Came to Gator's Dockside with SantaPaws for the $1 wing special and ended up staying way longer than planned because of bingo. Somehow we won the blackout round, which was a nice surprise and got a 10% off coupon and $10 toward our tab. The place had a really good vibe. Lots of families, people laughing, just a relaxed crowd. The servers were friendly and kept checking in without being over the top. The restroom was clean too, which honestly surprised me based on some of the reviews I saw before coming. Overall it felt like an easy spot to unwind after work. I live probably 10 minutes from gators in Deland, Florida and it is awesome. The service is always great and the food is really good. I am hooked on their fish sandwiches. Typical Gator's chain atmosphere, service is great at the bar, wings , app's, burgers, can't go wrong. Plenty of seating & Big screens for the games, shoot a game of pool if you like, they have a few tables, also arcade games for the young ones. Pretty disappointed with the food here...... The fried gator tail was tough, and the breading looked off. It should have been cooked longer...... I also ordered the Gator Style Honey Garlic wings and the came out with FRESH CHOPPED GARLIC all over it..... all I could taste was raw garlic. I love garlic but not RAW GARLIC all over my food....... That's just stupid........ I sent the wings back and ordered the fried shrimp platter. That was actually pretty good...... I was in Deland on a Sunday afternoon and decided to find somewhere to grab a bite and watch some of the NFL Games. I'm familiar with Gator's as there are a few around Orlando. They're famous for their wings, but I did not partake (although I love their grilled "scooter" wings). The menu here also was a bit smaller than the other locations I've been, but could be a product of the pandemic too. Fried Pickles - Wow, if you've ever eaten fried pickles and were frustrated with all of the breading falling off, then you need to try these bad boys. You can bite into these bad boys and get a nice crunch and pickle combo without them falling apart. I ended up just putting each full delicious bad boy in at once as they weren't that big where you need to bite them. Fish Tacos - I took a chance and ordered blackened instead of fried and I was super happy I did. They were healthier, but the fish was so moist and flavorful that I didn't miss the crunch of the fried version. There was also a lot of fish on each taco. Fish Sandwich - This reminds me of the fish sandwiches from eastern PA where the piece of fish is WAY bigger than the bun. Excellent crispy flakey fish. Service was great and the wait staff were all friendly and in their NFL gear to add to the atmosphere. They had a bunch of different NFL games on so if you're looking to watch a game you might not have on your TV set at home, this may be a good spot. read more

Came here for the first time while visiting family. Our server was sweet and took care of us. I ordered a cobb salad. Can't believe they had french dressing. My fav! No one ever has french dressing. Wanted wingers (which is a popular Gators menu item) it the waitress stated they didn't have them-- so I ordered the chicken tender meal. When the food came out it was actually wingers. Very greasy and terrible breading. The sweet tea was good at least. Too many customers and not enough waitstaff. This location was the first, the original- what the waitress said. This is the third Gator's Dockside location I've been to in Central Florida and so far the most disappointing. The first thing that should have tipped me off was the fact that on "All You Can Eat" wing night the place was barely 1/3 full. The UCF location was always an hour+ wait on AYCE night. The hostess sat the pair in front of us who said they were a party of 4, and I think she thought we were the other 2 because she never came back. Another waitress happened by and finally sat us. As she showed us our table, another waitress ran up to her all flustered and whispered something, then stomped her foot and left in a huff. We started looking over the menu (which looks nothing like the other Gator's Dockside menus, some items similar but totally different design and missing a few things I love at the other Gator's). Finally the waitress that sat us came back to take our drink order and jokingly commented, "Since no one can decide whose turn it is, I'll take care of you." Cute, but not cute, that shows poor management if the waitress rotation isn't on point. My Dad ordered the ribs which according to him were surprisingly decent for a sports bar (he's a BBQ afficianado). I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich and what I got was sloppy and not in a good way. While the chicken was very well cooked and juicy, it was WAY too thick of a breast and I think that's why the breading was just falling off in soggy glops. Pair that with an overly saturated bottom bun slathered in blue cheese dressing and cheddar cheese and the whole thing lost half its flavor as soon as the breading sloughed off and took the buffalo sauce and cheeses with it. I ate about 2/3 and declared it too mediocre to continue. I was going to give bonus points for the curly fries, but half of them were mushy and luke warm and definitely frozen. We waited an unusually long amount of time to complete the "get check, pay check, sign CC slip" process and left to never return again. The waitress was nice, but the whole place seemed out of line and ill-managed. The food was edible but definitely not worth what we paid or the time spent there. Next time I want good wings or a good sandwich, screw it, I'll drive back down to Baldwin Park or UCF. read more

Absolutely disgusting service and food. We waited over an hour for all you can eat wings. Our first order came out with o my six wings and French fries. The server asked if we wanted French fries and we said no. He brought us out a plate each of 6 wings and French fries. The fries were cold and soggy from soaking up the oil from the wings. We placed a reorder before the server left the table. Waited another 15 minutes before a different server brings us our reservation order. We try to order more with her but she says our original server has to take it. He never shows back up. My re order was wrong. He gave us the wrong sauces. My husband and I ate only 10 wings a piece and a handful of fries. The server is busy hanging out and socializing with his friends who were sat behind us. We didn't want to wait any longer. We ask to pay for 2- ten count wings since that's all we ate. The server goes to talk to his manger and comes back out with a solution to our problem. The server said the manager stated we could pay for 2-six count wings and he apologizes. The server drops off the bill and everything is still regular price. He says the manger already fixed it. Didn't do anything. We get the server again and said he's afraid to talk to his manager because he's new. Just get me the correct bill at this point. The manager comes over and talks to us. He's dressed in an untucked shirt and dirty sneakers. The restaurant already smells like the night before. I shouldn't expect too much at this point. The manager says there isn't anything he can do and that's what we are paying. He walks away and another sever attempts to help us. A girl walks by and listens to us and then says she's going to get the manager. The same manager from before comes back over and gets in our faces and starts to Get loud with us, asking why we are refusing to pay our bill. We explain the situation to him and he says he doesn't care and that we have to pay for what we eat and can't leave until the bill is paid for. Refuses to make the situation right. I paid him and we left. I don't feel comfortable being in a restaurant where the manager harasses us and their wait staff is too busy to wait on customers and would rather talk to their friends read more

Usually a regular for the pool tables but lately the service has gotten worse and worse with the food following it down. They can't play music in the pool area. No reason why. Just cause. They never have chalk and I get people take it but no chalk on a pool table is silly. Especially when you ask and they say it's here somewhere. Food comes out cold and without the sauces. Even if you ask in advance. Drinks are watered down and forget about the advertised specials. Waitress laughed and said "but those are two different buttons". It became my fault she rang it up wrong. I genuinely like Gator's food, however this location has been disappointing on two occasions. (Fool me twice, shame on me right?) Our server, Sterling, was great. Very apologetic and helpful. The rest or the servers were very nasty towards one another and didn't try to hide it in front of customers. They're extremely understaffed when we go so waiting 15 minutes for a refill or an hour for food isn't unheard of. When we got our food, my fiancées was cold and the lettuce on mine was wilted and browned. Sterling was very apologetic and had the kitchen remake it. It also feels very dirty and unkempt. Like I said, love them food, and ONE of their servers. Unfortunately I will not be back to this location :( read more

The staff here was really great. I took my mother out one night and she NEVER drinks. She had one Long Island Iced Tea and was lit! But since she never drinks, she really wasn't aware of her limits. She kept asking for more and the server was cool enough to bring her non-alcoholic drinks, she never knew the difference and I thanked them for this. She asked for a White Russian and they brought her a chocolate milk. She said "this is the best drink I've ever had!" Thanks to the staff here for helping me keep my mother in check! It was much appreciated! On to the food...Gator's has GREAT boneless and bone-in wings! I crave them sometimes! read more

I've been going here for months and never written a review, shame on me. When it comes to the sports bar and grill combination this place takes it for me in DeLand. I've had many different meals here and have never been disappointed. I've had ribs, wings, burgers, sandwiches, all sorts of sides and all sorts of appetizers. TV's are all over the place so you can watch whatever you are into. My friends and I also love a good game of pool and Gator's has lots of great pool tables and good sticks. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone whether it be for a night with the family, friends or a place to start the bar hop. Good food, beer, pool tables, and sports means that I am a man of simple tastes and happy here. read more

Service was horrible! Ordered drinks and mushroom appetizer...was brought but no silverware or plates. When drinks were empty she was very slow to respond! We ordered 50 wings (AT A WING PLACE) and it took nearly 40 minutes for food to arrive - excuses included "a couple of new cooks in the back" and "they had to throw new fresh wings in" - all very odd since other people came in after us and ordered wings and got their food (and left) be we did! We had ordered fries as well and it took me reminding our waitress 4 times (including once when she "damn what are they doing in the kitchen") before they finally arrived! The worst Gators I have ever been to. I get the same wings every time. They came out with no sauce. I had asked for re tossed When I mentioned it to the server her comment was they were re tossed. Wings were to be grilled and they appeared to be burned in some areas. The French fry's were cold and not the usual seasoning. I had to ask for water twice. Terrible service, dirty. I visited Gators Dockside Deland Friday, January 4th around 9:30 pm following a date night at the movies with my girlfriend. We walk in, stand at the front waiting for the hostess to finish her conversation with someone. She doesn't even greet us at all, so my girlfriend and I start walking in. That's when the hostess asks, "Two"? I say, " yes. A booth please". Hostess walks off. That's when my girlfriend comments to me, " I guess we're supposed to follow her?" Hostess leads us to a booth, tosses the menu's down and walks off never saying a word or looking at us. RUDE. The first thing we notice is the table is not clean. We looked through the menu together and decided what we wanted. Ten minutes had gone by at this point. No sever ever came to the table. I walk outside to get my girlfriend her sweater from the car because she was cold. I came back and my girlfriend said she stopped a server from another section to get our drink order. She said that server said to her, " I guess I'll be your server". Another ten minutes go by. Nobody ever came back with the drinks OR to take our order. MIND YOU, THIS PLACE WAS HALF EMPTY FOR A FRIDAY NIGHT. It's not like they were busy or anything. 5 more minutes went by when we made the decision to leave and go somewhere more appreciative of the business. I even had a coupon I could have used at Gators but decided it wasn't worth the trouble anymore. We went to Applebees and had great service, great food and a great atmosphere. This place used to be good, but has since slid way downhill since our last visit. I even sent an e-mail to the corporate office about my issue a week ago today. NEVER GOT A RESPONSE BACK. The drinks are damn cheap. 7.99 for a pitcher of bud light line and 8.99 for woodchuck you seriously can't beat it. Any time you come in you can pretty much get right in and served. The food isn't too bad either. Can't really complain too much about this place. Not a 5 star restaurant but very good. Took too long to get our food.
