No obvious Gati presence, so (recalling the mysterious "inside Sweet Basil" notes in online references), we asked at Sweet Basil to get the story. Here's the deal: Gati Thai Bistro is a takeout-only operation that runs out of the Sweet Basil kitchen. Apparently an independent business (and menu) from Sweet basil. I'm not surprised everyone at my company raves about this place! The interior is super cute. They have an abundance of plants both inside and outside, even some tomato and pepper plants, which is a really nice touch. We arrived before normal dinner hours and found one of the ladies tending to the vegetable plants outside. Just from this sight, I knew the restaurant would be good. I wasn't super hungry, but ordered the fresh summer rolls with shrimp, a small tom yum soup with shrimp, and split the mango sticky rice with my friend. The summer rolls were delicious! Normally, I'm not a fan of the peanut sauce that comes with it, but this one was very good! The soup was the perfect level of spicy and had a generous serving of vegetables. Though we were both really full, I couldn't leave without trying the mango sticky rice. The mango was divine; I regret not getting my own plate. The rice was perfectly cooked and creamy. It was some of the best mango sticky rice I've ever had. I regret not coming here sooner, but I'm so glad I got to try it before I go home. It's a pretty good pad Thai. That'a what I try to compare when I go to every Thai restaurant. The noodles were a bit too oily and would have liked a bit fresher bean sprouts to add that crunch. The sauce wasn't as spicy as I would have hoped with no pepper flakes in it. Also, the pad Thai didn't have scrambled egg in it which is kind of a must. I did like how they had peanuts and a lime as garnishes which added to the flavor. pad Thai was good not incredible like lanxang star resturant in Dracut, MA is. Also I tried my friends chicken fried rice and the meal tasted a bit dry and had this Smokey flavor, also maybe bacon flavor that I just was not a fan of. There also wasn't any egg in my friends fried rice which is a what fried rice is so i can't give it more than 3 stars I will say the portions are big and after taxes I spent 16$. read more

The staff is nice, but very very slow. You have to flag them down for water, to order, and for the bill. The food left a lot to be desired. We ordered the: - Crab Rangoon - Khao Soi with chicken - Pineapple Fried Rice with shrimp - Cashew Nut with beef & rice Out of all the dishes, the crab rangoons were my favorite. The Khai Soi was so disappointing and came dry with almost no broth (nothing like the reviews/photos posted by others). The pineapple fried rice was flavorless and the rice was still really hard. The cashew nut dish was supposed to come with mushroom and bell peppers, but we only saw one piece of mushroom and maybe 5 pieces of bell pepper. It was mostly onions. Picked up takeout for lunch from here today, 2 Tom Kha soups, one chicken, one tofu, both extra spicy. Very good and the spice level was HOT and excellent. We will be back to try some other things. I love the food, but on a recent visit, the service has been bad. In the first incident, the waiter added too much to the hot tea, and they charged $4 to $5 when we asked him if we were regulars, and the tea seemed to be diluted. He said it was on purpose and very rude. A week later went back again, and this time, he remembered that we put a 15% tip, so he added a transaction fee of 2.9% plus an 18% charge for the room :O. This is new; we have been going there for years, and the previous waiters were really sweet, and we never had any weird behavior. I would have given 1 star if I had rated only the service. read more

Hands down the best Tom yum noodle soup ever had. So rich and flavorful. Their dishes taste a little healthier than other Thai restaurants I've had, which I like. Been ordering for a couple of years now. I order the Tom Yum Noodle soup along with Basil and chili. If, I have any small complaints, I wish consistency of the food would be better. Although I have been very happy with all I have received, you can tell when a different chef made it. Also, I have some small food sensitivities and when asking to withhold items they alway accommodate, however when asking for a substitute not always followed up with. For example. Please hold green bell pepper ann replace another veggie. I do understand that with delivery it is hard because there is no conversation. All and all I will be ordering again soon. read more

This is a little gem. Five stars to the poor girl who serves the entire restaurant and deals with the abundance of take out orders and still manages to keep it all together. After two great experiences here last month, we were somewhat disappointed by today's experience. They now want you to order via an app and pay for meal, tip AND a service charge in advance. Service was slow and fairly inattentive, not really surprising given that the tip was pre-paid. Food was good but not as good as it had been previously. Not the relaxing experience we were hoping for when dining in a restaurant. I personally hope that they will return to their previous format for dine-in service. we have done take out for years and always been very pleased. This was my first in person visit and it was fabulous. We got the pork bun and the pork belly was perfect! We also got the lettuce wraps (which we always do for take out) they. were beautifully presented and very flavorful. Very disappointed with my first visit. Decided to give this place a try and will not be returning. Difficulties placing an order online as the website only allows to pay via Apple Pay. Placed an order for Original Pad Thai & Fresh rolls through the phone. Pad Thai was dry. Peanuts, tofu, and eggs all with burnt marks. Shrimp also had burn marks. Hard to eat without getting a mouth full of the burnt taste. The shrimp was poorly deveined. Some pieces of the intestinal tract were in the noodles while other shrimp had it still stuck on the tail. Very distasteful! The same circumstances with the shrimp in my fresh rolls as well as a small spec of black matter that looked like a little bug. So upset that I drove all the way from NH to receive this. Definitely a one time visit. read more

Good showing for the area. The decor is a bit confusing but it's clean and has a nice atmosphere. Though we ordered vegetarian, we thought a Thai restaurant in Andover with wild boar available on the menu was promising, and it was pretty good! Just basil fried rice, so nothing to write home about, but adequately spicy when requested and tasty. Decided to try this place again a couple of weeks ago after a not so great experience a few years ago. The good news. Used a delivery app, everything ordered was correct and came early. The bad news. I just didn't like the food. It brought back the memories of the last time. Something is off with how the food is prepped. There was a bad texture to the chicken and shrimp in every dish. Food comes out pretty quick and was seasoned properly and very nice presentation. We both had noodle soups (it was a cold evening) and it was a good portion. We ordered the grilled pork appetizer and Tom Yum noodle soup, which are favorites; then we decided to branch out from our usual orders and chose the pad Thai (Good) but the star of the meal was Mom Khao Soi Beef. Oh my goodness was it good!! The curry was perfectly seasoned and very fresh tasting, we'll definitely order it again! We love Gati, but we're well aware that the quality of the meal depends on who is cooking it...unfortunately it isn't the same person all the time. Update review: Spoke to the owner about the mishaps, apparently the chef (her mom) was having a bad day. So we tried it again yesterday and yes the food taste good. We ordered it on weekend and meet July the girl that I used to ordered from a month ago. My chicken wing not as spicy as before, but I don't mind it I just have to order it xtra next time. Formerly the location of another Thai restaurant that we used to love so we decided to try it for lunch today. Went for lunch on a Wednesday a bit before noon and we were the first party there. Greeted immediately by a friendly hostess who seated us and gave us menus. A little disappointed that they do not offer steamed dumplings as an appetizer (which we always ordered from the prior establishment). We needed a few minutes to decide so as our friendly, young, almost timid waitress returned she was concerned that we place our orders before a large party they were expecting arrived. We skipped the appetizer and ordered the chicken basil fried rice (no curry powder) ($8.95) and the shrimp cashew nut ($10.95). Tap water for drinks. As we waited for our lunch, patrons began arriving for the big table next to us...10 or so people. A star for the waitresses diligence in getting our order in first! It took maybe 10 minutes of placing our orders for it to arrive. Beautiful presentation and hubby was very happy with his fried rice. Not "heavy" or laden with oil. Fresh veggies included carrots, onions, string beans, tomatoes all stir fried in a tasty but not salty seasoning. Chicken was also tender and flavorful. My shrimp dish included 5 medium sized shrimp perfectly cooked in a mildly spicy sauce with fresh carrots, peppers, snow peas, onions served with steamed white rice. I had forgotten to replace the white with brown rice and realized it when it was served. Overall a great first experience, we plan to return. read more

Disappointed in the customer service. Ordered food on their online system, to be delivered via Grubhub. I thought the 90 minute scheduled delivery seemed excessive but I accepted it. 90 minutes after ordering I called customer support and was told the restaurant is closed & my order would be cancelled! I called the restaurant, somebody answered, and asked me to hold. Waited a LONG time hearing the chaos in the restaurant, but nobody ever came back to the phone. I can't judge the food, because it never came. Frustrating!!! I called the restaurant back... this time a kind woman answered and told me the Grubhub system was broken today!!! She offered to make and deliver the order. Nice to try to make things right, but unfortunate we got this this point! read more

The number of flies in this restaurant made me think it's dirty. They were landing on our food and pestering us the entire time! Gross and unsanitary! The fact that they don't have menus and force you to use you phone to order AND pay a tip in advance is not ok. Service/gratuity should be based on the quality of the service but when paid in advance there's no reason for the service to be good. My favorite place for Thai food is definitely Gati! I always order the pad Thai (I know typical..) and I can always rely on Gati to make it deliciously every time. The portion sizing is very filling, and the food comes incredibly fast as well. The restaurant is very cute and has very nice lighting. NOT THE SAME since they moved. Oh? You didn't know they moved? Well neither did we when we called in our order! And did I mention we weren't told the new address? We drove to the usual spot to pick up our order, only to find a sign on they door they had moved and listed the new (incorrect) address, because it said Main St, but they're on North Main St which is apparently the opposite direction. I make a call and am given the correct address and off we go to the 'new spot'. Driving around the plaza we CANNOT find the place, and I make another call asking 'where are you?!' "We are inside the restaurant Sweet Thai Basil". I ask 'why didn't you tell me that before? How are we supposed to know that?!' She apologized and into Sweet Thai Basil I went to pick up my Gati Thai food. (believe me I KNOW it's confusing). Finally got our food (half hour later) and home we went. Here comes the worst part...the food is NOT the same! My favorite soup was so salty it was inedible...no exaggerating here. Pad Thai, and Pad See Ew tasted nothing like they used to. Just 2 noodle dishes, that we ate, but had no ring of the dishes we ordered. Even the sauce for the dumplings changed, and not for the better.
