The atmosphere is upscale yet welcoming--modern decor, lively vibe without being overwhelmingly loud The staff was super attentive and friendly from the moment we walked in, making great recommendations. We started with the salt & pepper calamari and some dumplings--both were fresh, perfectly crispy, and packed with flavor. For mains, the fried rice was spot-on (flavorful and not greasy at all), and the torched tuna with truffle butter sauce was absolutely divine--such a creative fusion twist! The sushi options looked incredible too, and everything came out hot and beautifully presented. Portions are generous, and the quality really stands out compared to other places nearby. Went to Karma with a group of 9 people for a birthday dinner. Made reservations and the table was ready when we got there. The waitstaff was very friendly, remembered it was my birthday! The food and drinks were very good and we were even brought ice cream for some birthday singing!! The only reason I am giving this 4 vs. 5 stars is the atmosphere was not what I expected after looking at the high gloss menu and the price point. This location is in Andover, MA, in a strip mall with many other stores. There is ample parking and it's easy to get too. When you enter you are greeted by a smiling hostess and friendly staff. We ordered fried rice, pupu platter, salt and pepper shrimp and dumplings. The rice was good, very flavorful and authentic. The appetizers were good and fresh, as well as the crab ran-goons. I was quite surprised during my recent visit to see that food prices have increased by 20 to 25%, and the quantity has been reduced by 30%. There used to be a time when ordering one dish was sufficient for one person. But not anymore. We recently ordered a seafood dish (scallops & shrimp). There were exactly two pieces of scallops, thinly sliced, and 4 medium shrimp for $25. Such small portions that if you're not on a diet, you need 2 to 3 dishes to feel full. I did a takeout a few weeks ago for 2 shushies dishes for $18 for my teen, and he asked whether we had any food after eating those. They were so small and not sufficient at all. The menu is large so we needed a bit of time to choose. Luckily the people at the next table were friendly and enthusiastic. With their guidance we ordered the Tuna Pizza which was shockingly delicious. Then Happy Family which contained so many things, both seafood, meats and veggies. My husband got several sushis as well. After spending just a little over an hour dining and more than $200, I was asked to leave moments after taking the last bite of my dessert because "another party was waiting." Even during COVID patrons were allowed up to 90 minutes. It was crystal clear they were more focused on flipping the table for their next dollar than respecting the customers who actually keep their business running. The rush-out was rude, unprofessional, and completely inappropriate--especially considering I frequent this restaurant often and order takeout nearly every week. For a place I've supported so consistently, being treated like an inconvenience instead of a valued customer was downright offensive. If this is how Karma Andover operates now, they can count me out. Awful. From the service to the food to the atmosphere, awful. The website (and price tag) makes it look like a posh, upscale restaurant. In reality it's an outdated, tacky sports bar with a restaurant hanging off the side of it. Where do I start? Service: I should have realized what the meal was going to be like when the waitperson asked me which gin I wanted in my Old Fashioned. After a comical back-and-forth, because she didn't have a good grasp of English, I gave up trying to explain what an Old Fashioned was, I ordered a sake. Every piece of our meal came out piecemeal. Two apps came out. Then after we finished those, the third came out. Three of our meals came out together and 15 MINUTES LATER, the last entree came out. Then, after we all were finished, the two maki rolls I ordered for the table came out. I thought she forgot about them but she didn't and now they're both in my fridge. The waitperson never came to check on us and I constantly had to search for her when we needed something. Food: The crab Rangoons were excellent as were the gyoza. Three of the entrees were good but not great. The maki was weird for the sake of being unusual so none of the flavors matched. I sent my chicken teriyaki back, it was nothing more than boiled chicken with some thick, sweet goop poured over it. Then they sprinkled uncooked sesame seeds on it. One bite and that was it. Atmosphere: Dozens of sports jerseys and other sports stuff mixed in with tacky 70's fixtures and decorations. A large rectangular bar takes up half the space and it's loud. We all hated it. The Bill: Over two hundred bucks for four people with no desserts (we got the heck out of there after the mains) and only two drinks. I had only one sake because I couldn't find the waitperson. We stopped into Karma at 3 pm on a Saturday after running errands and the place was hopping! We were seated immediately and presented with a menu similar in size to that famous CF menu-a never ending menu with lots to choose from in so many different Asian taste delights. Since it was 'linner' for us, we decided to split the hipster maki roll which was freshly prepared and delectable. We then shared the Peking Duck because honestly, haven't had it in so long and this looked like a place that would prepare it well. The wraps were presented in a bamboo container and as the menu says-they were truly paper thin-even translucent, which enable me to concentrate on the flavorful combo of crispy duck with thin matchstick sliced cucumbers and scallions. Because of how thin they were, they stacked and rolled easily with the duck! It became a perfectly sized trio of treats in its wrapping once coated with the hoisin. So good! We live about an hour and a half away from Andover and come to town only when we visit our daughter who attends the boarding school here. I've been disappointed by the lack of amenities and restaurant options in town. Normally, we go to Caffe Neroon for coffee and a quick bite before we head home after a brief visit. I actually met a friend through Yelp who used to live in Andover and Karma was one of the restaurants she recommended. So glad we decided to come here! My friend ordered the Lettuce wraps, DD chose the Duck Bao Buns, and I selected the Cantonese Basil Chow Fun. Both my friend and DD rated their dishes 8/10 but I was very happy with mine, which I thought was PERFECT. I'm a fan of Chow Fun and this was probably one of the best I've had. I wouldn't add or remove a single ingredient. I was surprised by how nicely the restaurant was furnished and decorated, especially since the entire strip mall seems to be outdated and unassuming, located further away from the trendier establishments on Main St. Our server was also very patient and friendly. Very comfortable and pleasant atmosphere all around. I have a bad habit of always ordering the same thing once I've discovered a stellar dish, so I will probably come back for their Chow Fun whenever I'm in town. This restaurant is supposedly Asian fusion, but I get the sense that the chef specializes in gourmet Chinese food. Most Asian fusion restaurants serve Thai Iced Tea, but Karma does not. karma is situated in a plaza adjacent to planet fitness. there is a large parking lot and its always full. i've been to the other karma's including concord and westford. i would say this one is more sports oriented in décor while the westford location is the most chic followed by the concord location. i haven't been to the burlington location so can't comment there. i recommend reservations if you want a nice booth. we didn't think rez was need and were sat in the bar area. no complaints. when we inquired about an open booth, we were informed that's for a rez. came here on a thursday night for dinner. the four of us ordered a sushi boat for three with an additional veggie dish. three different bottles of sake to pair. surprisingly the portion was just right, provided we were four hungry guys. all the sushi & sashimi were really fresh. some had sauces on them, which were tasty and in their own elements. everyone enjoyed themselves and i would come here again. read more

I'd been to Karma a few times several years ago, and I remember enjoying it. Since I was craving sushi I thought I'd pay this place another visit. Holy false advertising Batman. I've never been to a restaurant where every single item I ordered was not what I expected. You ever order something online, only to get something that looks totally different in the mail? This was the dining version of that. Bolt Speed: Cocktail with rum, Midori, banana liquer, cream, and pineapple juice. Said it was a smoothie on the menu. Of course I expected a blended drink, so I was confused when my drink was clearly shaken. I asked the waitress if the drink was supposed to be blended because it said it was like a smoothie on the menu. She said it's a "smoothie" because it has cream. Excuse me, what? I don't think I've ever had any smoothies with cream. I did keep the drink and it did taste good, but I was disappointed since it wasn't what I expected. It was $7.50 which I think is a reasonable price for what I got. Tuna Taco: More like tuna nachos. Spicy tuna mixed with sesame seeds, fish roe, and green onions on wonton crisps. Again, tasted very good and fresh, and the waitress mixed everything together and put the tuna on the chips which was nice. But it's not what I expected, and not worth $16 in my opinion. Paradise Maki: Supposed to be a sushi roll with spicy salmon, mango, avocado, and spicy crab. I expected fresh chunks of mango as sushi rolls often have, but instead the mango was chopped into very thin slices which was texturally odd. There was a paltry amount of crab on top, and the texture seemed more like imitation crab, not the snow crab as advertised. Definitely not worth the $19. Since I generally don't like to be entirely negative with reviews, here are the positives: Good service, pleasant ambiance, and everything was very clean and appropriately distanced. I'm willing to come here again because I was satisfied with the quality of the food. However, given the high prices and feeling like I didn't get what I ordered, I don't think I'll be back for a while, and I definitely will not order the same things. read more

I ate at this restaurant for the first time today, I ordered the caviar and pad Thai dishes. The space inside is very pretty, and there are ample spots to sit and eat. The menu itself is stunning and vast as there are many options to choose from. I also found the wait staff to be very friendly and accommodating! Overall, this place is definitely five stars. We put in an order for a pupu platter and a chicken and Mongolian beef dish with two sides of rice; it literally took 25 minutes for the poo poo platter to come out. For $30, the amount of food was abysmal. Small portions and literally 2 chicken wings...Now let's get to the Mongolian beef, for $22 (which took 20 minutes after the platter to come out). It literally had scraps of beef mixed in with mounds of vegetables to cover up the lack of meat. The service was good but the upcharge for brown rice is where I draw the line. We really like Karma, and this last time we had an exceptional waitress who was very helpful in selecting our dishes. The appetizer of salt & pepper calamari, shrimp, and scallops was a bit spicy, which we enjoy, and with good flavor, enough to share with 4 people. We usually order Uni sushi, which is expensive at $10 a piece, but always good, even if a bit small. "We always order" should tell you something. The sashimi platter was wonderfully presented, and the sashimi was cut thin enough to be enjoyable, but the pieces were rather small and the flavor of the fish was not super impressively overwhelming. We have ordered Maki (Rolls) in the past and will probably stick with those in future visits. Our entrees were pretty much perfect. The beef was tender and flavorful and the green beans served with it were cooked just right, not over cooked at all. The chow fun noodles were sublimely exceptional in compliment with the spicy chicken, and the Pea Greens were delicious.
