My wife and I have been a regular customer of this restaurant's Japanese Restaurant neighbor next door. Because of the coronavirus and our inability to sit down in a local restaurant, we decided to get a Chinese dinner to take home from this restaurant. BAD DECISION. We ordered three dishes: 1) Seafood Delight; 2) Beef Mooshi; 3) Chicken LoMein. The Seafood Delight was full of seemingly good quality seafood - scallops (hardly cooked at all - almost "raw" - sauce totally bland - no effort to make it tasty/flavorful ---- shrimp (large ones I will admit) but tasteless - no sauce except for the bland (at best) brown sauce that had no flavor, some vegetables (under-cooked and not even warm by the time we drove home - 5 miles away); The Mooshi was literally swimming in the tasteless beef broth - so much so that when I tried to place a portion on a pancake, the resulting liquid spilled over my place mat and on to the floor - again no flavor; The LoMein was the same - except maybe (?) a little less liquid. The food was totally "TASTELESS", lacking anything remotely like flavor, everything we ordered had not one redeeming quality that would ever suggest to me I wanted to go back "ever" again. If you can imagine sauces that consisted of either beef or chicken broth with a little arrowroot or flour to thicken it up served with the contents of one of our three dishes we ordered to overflowing, you'd get some idea of what they presented to us for $45+. I couldn't believe it. We didn't have a chance to taste it when we were there because of the virus - we only had that chance when we arrived home and sat down to eat it. NEVER EVER AGAIN. Maybe one could presume that the cornavirus situation might have compromised some of the kitchen staff's skills/ability to deliver a tasty dish? But that wouldn't make much sense considering how little business was coming in the door. One couldn't eat in the restaurant because of Governor Baker's rules about only going to restaurants to pickup food to eat at home. Any other far fetched thought about justifying the quality of the food doesn't exist no matter how long I thought about it. My wife and I will continue to go to the adjoining Japanese Restaurant but will avoid this DISASTER CHINESE RESTAURANT AT ALL COST. If you want a good Chinese meal, either go to Boston or try the China Star DIM SUM Restaurant on Middlesex Street in Lowell during lunch hours (11AM-2:30PM). They do a great job with a terrific bit of Chinese cuisine (DIM SUM). read more

After checking out the Teatone menu on their website, I decided to stop in here for lunch takeout very recently. This Chinese takeout restaurant is located next door to Moontone and across the street from the Andover Commuter Rail Station. The place is order at the counter with a few tables for eating in. I ordered the L8 Shrimp Lo Mein ($7.25 plus tax) with Pork Fried Rice and 2 Chicken Fingers, which was ready to go in under 10 minutes. The woman at the counter was very quiet and handed me my order in silence. The portion of food was pretty good. The lo mein dish was fresh & light which was mostly firm noodles tossed with onions, scallions, cabbage, and very minimal shrimp and a couple broccoli florets. The pork fried rice was good, which had a soft texture with peas, carrots, green onions, egg, and small roast pork cubes. The chicken fingers were crispy outside, not greasy with tender boneless white chicken meat. Overall, the food tasted pretty good and I did not finish the lunch combo in one sitting, a second lunch for tomorrow! (3.5/5.0 stars) read more

This place is AMAZING! It was a great find in Andover and it rivals any Chinese food in the Boston area. Their dumplings are incredible and the fried rice is right on the money. If you prefer the typical overly greasy, brown Chinese food then look elsewhere. Teatone's variation consistently proves to be fresh, not cooked to death, vibrant yumminess with colorful, crunchy vegetables. They are unceasingly friendly on the phone and in person. My son was craving for Chinese food and asked me and my wife to take out few dishes for dinner from Teatone. It was a bad decision. We (three of us) could't finish our dishes and eventually threw them away. Long story short. All of us ended up with upset stomach (not sure whether it was due to too much sauce or too greasy or simply something wrong with the dishes). Starting with my chicken wings, it tasted funny. Tasted like they used the same sauces that used for other dishes. Not even close to normal chicken wings. My son had a very similar experience with his two dishes and ended up with going back and forth to the restroom all night due to upset stomach. It seems some other people had good experience with the restaurant. Our previous experience with this restaurant was not that bad but this time not even close. Will not go back again. read more

I love living in Andover, but unfortuntely the delivery options are limited. We have ordered from here a few times, The food is mediocre. Chicken fingers are always super greasy. We normally stick to appetizers. The staff is very rude on the phone. We ordered two weeks ago and it will be the absolute last time we order. We were told 45 minutes... food didn't come for almost two hours. When I called twice, staff was very rude and didn't seem to care that our food was so late. They didn't want to service us. When I called on third time after one hour and 45 minutes from time of order, I demanded to speak to owner or manager. They were not there and girl on phone gave me their cell phone number. They didn't answer nor return our call. We refused to sign credit card slip. In the end, if you don't mind rudeness... then this is a great place for mediocre food at a decent price! read more

Generally reliable food. It is just your above-average American-Chinese place. The grain based food (dumplings etc.) are a bit larger in the dough as I suspect they are from Nothern China where it is the cooking style to do this. I try to opt for the combos, the dinner and lunch ones. A bit pricey but you're in Andover. I come here at least once a month. EDIT: 8/19/2014 Changed this to a 1* review. The people working here are rude and expect you to still pay after delivery takes over two hours and you get cold food. Horrible, absolutely horrible. I felt bad for the delivery driver - it was his first day and he looked frazzled. I don't blame him, because clearly, this is an issue with this place if you read the other reviews. Some issues that we had that were the same as others: Told 45-60 minutes, food took 2 hours because they were "busy" Requested refund and they said they couldn't take a loss on the food. (finally got them to refund it - at least they said they would, need to make sure it comes off of our card though). Asked to speak to manager and they said the manager was at mootones - mootones said the manager wasn't there. What restaurant doesn't have some type of supervisor/owner/manager on duty?? They were rude and hung up on us several times. We were also told that the delivery driver was close to us after we called at 1hour. when the guy showed up, we asked how long he had the food and was told he had it for 40 minutes. I like this place as a close by Chinese take out restaurant. Ordered on a Friday night, and food was ready very quickly! They seem to use a decent amount of fresh vegetables in their Lo mein, which is always a plus. I was surprised by their pork fried rice - it is actually flavorful and not dried out (I usually despise pork fried rice, and happened to try some). It has lots of meat and egg and peas in it. The wonton soup is good, lots of cabbage floating with the wontons in a tasty broth. Crab rangoons are good, nothing special. Egg roll & spring rolls were greasy but good. Prices are moderate. Servings are moderate to large.This will likely become my go-to for Chinese take-out. read more

Don't offer delivery if you can't deliver. I was told 45 min. which turned into two hours. The food arrived cold. I called after an hour and was told that the driver was stuck in traffic. There is so much traffic in Andover in July, I totally understood...NOT! And we live less than 1/2 mile away. If you want delivery of good Chinese food in Andover, order from Peking Garden. Lost my "food poisoning" virginity a few weeks ago to Teatone. I've eaten here before over the years but clearly went down hill. I had all of my faves (Peking dumplings, crab Rangoon, beef and chicken teriyaki and house fried rice) which is disturbing since they seemed to be cooked and I don't even want to think about the cross contamination factor. One of the worst take out experiences of my life and really poor customer service. Ordered take out on a regular Monday evening and was told 45 mins. Two hours later and multiple calls my order finally shows up stone cold. I called to request a refund and was told to call the owner. I called the owner and told her about my situation. She said that I got my food and she can't take a lose on the order. It was dinner for three, so the charge was less than $40 buck, For $40 I got an order of cold rice and had to throw out the rest of the food. I said to the owner that the food was very late and cold, which she told me about how busy they were and only had one driver etc... I felt these were her issues and should get a full refund. Why do I have to pay for food I can't eat? By the time the conversation was over I received nothing off the bill. Pretty piss poor service if you ask me. Its too bad, because I have picked up food there and it was not half bad. I don't understand the lack of customer service however. read more

Wow im suprised of all the bad reviews. This is our spot on sunday for chinese takeout. We love how fresh there oil is cuz the chicken fingers and crab ragoon are always nice and crispy not browned out by old oil. My son is 3 and hes a picky eater but the veggie fried rice and boneless spareribs he eats a whole plate no problem. Cant make everyone happy thats for sure. read more

This is the second time in recent months we have been unhappy with our food. Crab Rangoon and fried shrimp were over cooked to the point of dried out and unable to eat. The shrimp with lobster sauce was so full of carrots and peas there was almost no "sauce". Grease must not have been changed recently. About a month or two ago we had similar experience with food being so over cooked it was inedible. Let me preface this by saying I'm sure the owners are lovely people - this isn't anything personal about them. BUT. Worst Chinese food I've ever eaten in my life. EVER. Florida Chinese food is better -- and if you've ever been to Florida and had their Chinese food, then you know exactly what I mean. This wasn't Chinese food. I don't know what it was. The actual descriptor my daughter used when tasting the "lobster sauce" (absolutely no oyster sauce in there, some semblence of brown gravy with a ginger spice that was so strong it burned your mouth) - was that it tasted like "warm vomit". I hate to be so specific, but I've got to be honest, she wasn't wrong.... To those of you who think this is the best Chinese in Andover, I'm so sorry that you've clearly never had real Chinese food before. I'm new to Andover, and trust me when I tell you, I will be doing take out from other cities from here on in. I'll drive it home, and skip the delivery service. We literally threw out $100 worth of food. The "lobster sauce" was inedible, no exaggeration. The chicken wings, were fried?!? And didn't taste like Chinese chicken wings. The beef and chicken dishes were flavorless, and had no semblence of any Chinese authenticity. The fried shrimp seemed like it was in a panko, which would be okay but the shrimp was mealy. The boneless ribs and crab rangoon were mediocre at best, but at least they were edible. Truly, the best feature was the duck sauce - and the delivery service was prompt.
