Thai fried rice is very good, but tofu as "meat choice" on a takeout order not a good idea, as the texture gets weirdly tough.

I found very tiny portions and overcooked chicken satay. I wish them well because it seems like a Mom and Pop and I always want to see them do well. However, it was a very scaled down Americanized version of Thai. Brown Sugar by the Sea is miles better. More expensive, but worth it. read more

Absolutely delicious, Thai zap doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you sit down you not only get great service but also fantastic food. I've spent 3x more in Boston for the same meal, it never compares to malis. I usually get the beef pho and fresh rolls (extra peanut sauce) they are sooooo good!!! The headline is that I will definitely try it again even though the review might suggest otherwise. I ordered takeout but once I went in, I'd consider eating there. It's a cozy, clean restaurant and the staff is very inviting and friendly. The food I ordered on line was ready quickly and remained warm for my 15 minute trip home. I love dumplings and ordered both a steamed and fried version. Sadly, neither impressed me. The fried version didn't have a lot of flavor and thankfully it was greasy. The wrapping on the steamed ones was thin (which I prefer) but I didn't think the filling was flavorful. I order "Thai medium" spice to the papaya salad and chicken pad Thai and even though I can generally handle spicy food, my mouth was on fire. Extremely Disappointing, Not Worth the Hype or the Price After several people recommended this place, we were genuinely looking forward to trying it. Unfortunately, the experience left us frustrated and disappointed. It started with being handed the wrong takeout order. Mistakes happen, but it's still surprising for something so basic to slip through, especially since the restaurant wasn't busy at the time. Luckily I caught it before we left and was able to get it corrected. When we got the right order, things didn't get any better. The portions were shockingly small, maybe a pound of food total, which included a wonton soup. We double-checked, and yes, it was all correct. Opening the containers at home was the real letdown. The chicken was painfully dry, honestly some of the driest I've ever tasted. The crab rangoons and yellow fried triangles looked and tasted like something microwaved from a big box store freezer section. There was nothing fresh or flavorful about it. We spent just over $60 with tip, and for that price we expected a decent meal. A comparably priced place just down the street would have given us quality food and enough leftovers for a couple of days. Instead, we were left hungry, frustrated, and honestly a bit stunned. What a surprise! Was looking for shrimp wanton soup and this was where I found it! The soup was delicious! Small restaurant with a lot of takeout orders but the food was fresh, crispy and tasty. I live somewhat locally and never knew this place existed. I asked who I believe was the owner how long they had been here assuming it was new and then he told me it had been 12 years... in any event I ordered the pad Thai, pineapple, rice, chicken satay, tofu, soup, golden triangles, and I think another item or two. I was afraid to order pad Thai here coming out of NYC but found the noodles here quite good. Everyone has their version of pad Thai and I'd say the spectrum of this dish's elements was met here. It's not the absolute greatest and sort of mild but good in flavor. Tofu chunks were nicely roasted. I will be back to try other plates. read more

Went to Thai Zap on 110 in Salisbury, MA, today for lunch. It was awesome! Don't be deceived by the exterior. It's cute as anything inside and the food was delicious! I had the yellow curry with chicken and my friend had pho with fresh herbs and lime and chicken. We started with crispy wings (out of this world!) and golden triangles (Thai Samosa). The owner came over to chat and we had an absolutely lovely time. I'd never had Thai food before and I loved it. Gave Mali's a try because of the reviews. Unfortunately we found the food the be very average. The crab Rangoon appetizer was a lot more batter than filling, they were also extremely small individual pieces. I had the Pad Thai. I did appreciate the fact that you can pick your level of spice ( mild, medium, hot). My wife had the Pad See Ew. I asked her opinion of her meal before I commented on mine, "Mine doesn't really have any flavor.", she said. My sentiments exactly. We split a Thai Lo Mein, same problem, no flavor. We did get the Mango Rice as desert and that was excellent. We will keep Mali's as a backup, but I think there are better options in the area. read more

Amazing delicious Thai food! I dined here with friends before seeing the Amesbury fireworks, so we shared various vegan and gluten free dishes. I especially enjoyed the scallion pancakes, fresh vegetable spring rolls, vegetable and tofu mango curry and the jasmine rice. We left feeling very happy and satisfied. I learned from the owner that this restaurant spun off from an award winning Thai food truck in Idaho. The truck did so well and the recipes were so well received that they brought the recipes to Massachusetts and started this restaurant. Aren't we lucky? :-) read more
