Everything was super clean, including the bathrooms, and the service was friendly the whole time. The dumplings were so good, the miso soup and salad were absolutely hitting, and the salmon was AMAZING. I also tried some of the steak and loved that too. The fish tasted fresh and everything came out flavorful and well made. Definitely a spot I'd come back to again if I'm in the area. read more

A perfectly decent experience but nothing to swoon over. The experience starts well. A spacious interior with live fish but also a projector with tranquil scenes. Fast seating in an area that looks like it could easily accommodate a wheelchair or other accessibility need. The service is fast, attentive, and friendly. Unfortunately, the food is where the experience flattens out. Miso soup, very good. King crab gyoza, why spicy? You could tell the gyoza tasted good, but it was drowned in a spicy sauce needlessly, obliterating the flavors within. The lobster rangoon were inconsistent, some were filled full, others were flat because nothing was in them. Then, the sweet cream cheese flavor overtook the lobster. The shrimp yaki udon had little flavor at all, which disappointed mightily because I usually love yaki udon. There was a special roll, crystal sea roll. Amazing, this is where the balance of flavors was found and it was the best part of the meal. A shrimp and asparagus roll was also ordered, but the strong asparagus flavor led to another imbalanced experience. Greeted right away and were seated quickly. As we sat the other tables started to fill so we chose a good time to show up. Server quickly took our orders and the Miso soup and salad were brought right out. The entrees came out soon after and we were surprised at the presentation and taste of the food. I stopped By for lunch had an amazing Sushi, Sashimi, California roll combo. This included salad and soup for only $22!! I ordered a white Mai Thai. Been there in the past seafood got sick... i thought maybe it was me at the time... Recently went back the other night with my 12 year old daughter who ordered udon and shrimp... The shrimp was very large and i noticed that it was cleaned, its guts or poop whatever it was, wasnt fileted i noticed after a few shrimp she got sick. really board of health should investigate this place it was the most disgusting thing loaded with the black crap in its back... sickening.... do not suggest this place to anyone tried the one over in Brentwood, just as bad too. horrible place... This used to be our go-to spot for sushi date nights, which makes this review especially disappointing to write. We've always enjoyed the food and service in the past, but our most recent visit was a completely different experience. Our waitress was rude and barely spoke to us. When it was time to order, she would simply walk up to the table with her notepad in hand and stand there silently waiting. There was no greeting, no "How are you?" and not even a simple "Are you ready to order?" It made the entire experience feel awkward and unwelcoming. Another frustrating part of the experience was the inconsistency. In the past, we've never had any issues ordering alcoholic beverages responsibly while dining, but this visit was completely different. My boyfriend was told he could not order another drink despite showing no signs of intoxication, and I was the designated driver that did not order any alcohol beverages. We fully support responsible alcohol service, but the inconsistency compared to our previous visits added to the overall frustration. Also, if you're going to enforce alcohol service policies, you should probably be checking IDs as well. (She did not ask for an ID) The sashimi arrived warm instead of cold and fresh, which was concerning. It also looked unusual compared to what we've received before. The noodles were cold, and some even seemed stale. What disappoints me most is how different this visit was from the many positive experiences we've had here before. Between the decline in food quality, poor service, and inconsistent treatment, Kume has unfortunately lost its place as our favorite sushi date-night restaurant. What a shame. read more

Takeout was sub-par: small portions for a lot of money (e.g., $23.50 for six pieces of salmon sashimi, $19 for a smallish beef udon, etc), flavor was lackluster (e.g., the Pad Thai was pretty boring; no flavor!), and the scallion pancake came burnt. The steak and shrimp on the hibachi was sooooo good. Very fresh and flavorful and perfectly cooked. More than enough food for sure. Even the simple soup and salad was delicious, don't underestimate either one. Place was clean but very dark and our servers were very welcoming. I NEVER write reviews. We live nearby and went a few years ago because our kids wanted to go to Hibachi. The food was fair then...tonight my husband and I went for dinner-Hibachi it was barely worth eating. . The server was nice, the chef was somewhat entertaining...but abbreviated. The steak was tough no flavor was cooked appropriately as medium rare. Chicken was moist but no flavor. My husband got the noodles barely cooked no flavor. I got vegetables -well cooked still crunchy no flavor. The shrimp tasted off definitely not fresh. The fried rice was pale tan and no flavor. We have gone to original Hibachi restaurants and this was really no better than my own home cooking. Possibly the other types of dishes at Kume are much better ... but skip the Hibachi. read more

I have regularly gone here many times over the last several years and I have always had an exceptionally good experience with the incredibly friendly staff and tasty food. Unfortunately, the last 2 times I got a lunch special there for sushi the sushi did not taste as good as it used to. I was going to overlook it but now I come to find out it's not even open on a Saturday anymore which was my favorite time to go. I don't know if I will be going here anymore which is sad. With none of our regular sushi bars being open for dine in we checked it out and had a wonderful meal. Lobster Rangoon's were yummy....he had a hibachi combo which was generous and perfectly cooked.
