I was around Anaheim and spotted this restaurant.

I visited Gateway to India, the name drew me in but the location and lack of customer should have given me away. The service was okay. It's located in an older plaza 5 blocks from Disneyland. The parking spaces are fainted so I feel some cars were parked in non-spaces. The interior of the restaurant is nice with lights coming in from the large windows. The visit didn't get off to a great start since they opened about half an hour later than the posted time, which was a bit inconvenient as I was planning to order to go -- wanted to leave before the lunch crowd that did t show up...no one came in that half hour I was waiting. The curry I tried was decent--flavorful enough but very oily and watery. Unfortunately, the fried vegetable pakora was overcooked and mostly batter, with very few veggies ingredients inside, so I'm a bit disappointed placing two orders. Overall, it was an okay experience and I enjoyed as bummed. I was hoping to find a new Indian restaurant.

This was my first time trying Indian food and this was amazing! It was so flavorful, creamy, and just so much going on. It was so so wonderful, I highly recommend eating here if you're craving some good butter chicken as well! We also wanted to try something different and got the mango chicken, which was also very yummy. Perfect amount of spice level as well. The service was amazing, and we were always serviced, despite being shortstaffed. We were always being refilled with water, and checked in. The ambience was wonderful, good music, and overall good scenery. They look very fancy, and I had a fun time eating with my family. Highly recommend eating here! It was so good!

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. The samosas were crispy and flavorful, the mint chutney was excellent. The chicken tikka masala was creamy and tasty. The rice was very good, they add cilantro to bring out the flavor. The garlic naan was buttery and yummy! The Indian music was fun and the server was nice. I'll definitely come back when I'm in the area.

My favorite go-to spot for Indian food! I've been here about three times, and it never disappoints. This time, I ordered the samosas, butter chicken, and pita bread. Everything was fresh, hot, and very tasty. The ambiance was well-lit with music playing in the background at a good volume--not overly crowded. I really enjoyed the place and definitely recommend it! Waiters were very friendly, informative and attentive great customer service!

    Too tall bejeweled tables!

Food - 2/5 Service - 1/5 Ambience - 3/5 Value - 2/5 Located in an L-shaped strip mall this Indian restaurant looks like it could have potential when you first walk in. Then you realize the 'ex-water feature' against the back wall is now dry. Odd, and scruffy. The tables are too high and rather umm, 'tacky' shall we say? The kitchen setup looks more suited to a takeaway only place. This wasn't the problem. The 'problems' started when our server appeared to struggle understanding anything we said, then far more worryingly denied the restaurant served any of the liquor on the menu stating "Only wine and beer". So much for that gin one of us wanted! The biggest problem was a watery, bland chicken and lamb vindaloos we ordered. The garlic naan bread was ok. My house white zinfandel was also ok, but such a limited wine selection to pick from. I'm eaten vindaloo in many countries, the UK is hard to beat, but I', judging this one against others here in the USA ...I've had way better. How does place get 4.5 stars out of 5 unless those leaving reviews don't know what Indian food is meant to taste like?

The staff member who stays until the restaurant closes is very rude. Tell him to be polite. I wouldn't want him to get beaten up.

In addition, at dinner only, each person can order one lamb shank - just this piece of meat alone is worth your $28.99 visit. The restaurant food section is maintained very cleanly, food is beautifully displayed for a self-serve buffet restaurant. Plenty of seating area with ability to accommodate larger parties, and feels family friendly. The only shortcoming they have is that their fruit section tastes consistently unappealing, and some of the desserts don't tastes too great either. But at least their main dishes taste good. Regardless, this is a regular lunch spot frequented, and would bring friends over for dinner here, if they ever feel like Mediterranean.

To be fair, I went on a weekend, so I paid the highest price. I could see this place being a much better value during weekday lunch. The inside was very clean, which I appreciated. One thing that felt a little awkward was the service setup. There didn't really seem to be servers inside, and you pay when you leave, so I wasn't completely sure how much tip made sense. I noticed they even had a 10% tip option, so I'm guessing they know the setup can feel a little unclear. The food overall was clean and decent. It felt like they had pretty much everything you would expect from an American-style Mediterranean/Middle Eastern buffet. Nothing really stood out as especially amazing, but there was a good variety, and most of the food gave me that "this is probably healthy" feeling. I'd consider coming back if I were with friends who really like Mediterranean food.
