Great food. It was good enough to go two nights on a row. Between all of us. We had the cordon blue, pork schnitzel, goulash, rump steak, garlic soup and fried emental cheese. It was all delicious and so much food. Highly recommend. read more

Quite tight seating. Restrooms are not accessible by people with limited mobility. No baby changing stations. The food is okay. The schnitzel was fine and so was lamb. Okay to eat but not memorable. Caprese salad was tasty. In conclusion, if you are passing by and hungry, feel free to stop by. If you are looking for a memorable lunch/dinner experience, plan to visit a different establishment.

It took quite a while to get the food after placing the order. but i think they were still making the dumplings when we walked in. Keep in mind, this place is very low key, they serve everything in cardboard boxes. The menu changes from week to week... we ended up getting the beef soup w/ cheese dumplings, green salad and the roast pork with crackling (breaded dumplings with sauerkraut). The soup reminded me of pho soup, and it was a nice appetizer to have while it was cold outside. The roast pork with sauerkraut was my favorite thing. if they have it, get it. Its filling and the crispy pork worked so well with the sauerkraut. They also have edm playing in the background if that's something you like.

In the end I wondered if I would have like just a lamb version versus a mix. Nonetheless it was super tasty and a good value. Actually some onion would have made it better. Highly recommended - we were lucky when we stopped there was not the long line we had seen at other times of the day.

Like Demel, Cafe Central is a MUST visit when you go to Vienna, where the coffee houses are a sight to behold on their own. Yes, the wait is quite long. Every time I pass by, there's a line, but it actually goes rather quickly and if you can find something to do to pass the time, it's like nothing at all. First off, the interior is STRIKING, a work of art in its own right with marble columns, stylish looking cafe tables, and paintings every where you go. Apparently Sigmund Freud has been a frequent patron here. Even if you were to get nothing at all, just the experience of sitting here is worth your eyes absorbing. But, oh!--the cakes--and the coffees! I had me an iced coffee that had a great body mixed with a delicate flavor to give me a jolt through the day. The hazelnut cake was airy and fluffy, not at all too sweet like American desserts have a tendency to be! The staff here move efficiently, and I love how there's no pressure to hurry up and pay your bill or make your order. A repeat place to be sure if I were to go back to Vienna.
