This tow service improperly towed my vehicle from my apartments THIS MORNING, I was just in my car right before they came, they gave NO WARNJNG. Just had the wildest experience with Bob from Gary's Westside Towing. I came home around 1:30am and noticed someone parked in my designated parking spot. I looked at the side of the building and saw Gary's number, so I called it. Bob answered and belittled me, using the F-word and telling me he couldn't tow the vehicle that was in my spot because I'm not the authorized user on the contract for the building, although I am the authorized user for my assigned spot. In my lease and on the emergency contact info for after-hours, it states to call the tow company and to just provide my ID for them to tow the unauthorized vehicle. He complained, saying my manager has to call, which is not true after business hours. I spoke to my after-hours emergency line, and they agreed to join a group call with me. We left a message, but Bob declined to answer, so we left a voicemail with authorization to tow the vehicle. The whole ordeal lasted over an hour, and the vehicle still hasn't been towed so I can't park in my spot. He referenced ongoing legal proceedings as a reason he was scared to tow from our building, which isn't legally advised during such proceedings. I told him that's a them problem and if they want to make money towing, which is their business model, that's what we pay them for. read more

Overcharge by 1/2 hour for $225 then a 10% fuel charge for 67$ which for 10 miles is more than half a tank free then sales tax and then a 25$ credit card fee... like seriously people don't carry 800$ in their pockets... won't be using this company again. Gary's is the tow company of choice for my business and they've been great every time we've had to call them. Had someone leave multiple vehicles parked on my lot in fire lanes and even though they only had one driver that night and he was super busy, he was extremely friendly and quick. When I called he said he'd be there in about 30 minutes and exactly 30 minutes later he showed up! Let me share an experience with you. Seattle received some snow. One inch in 24 hours. Then, because the ground is warmer than the air, the snow melted, just a little. Then the temperature dropped to 10ºF. Okay, these things happen. I'm from Montana. "These things happen" every year for about six months. I'm fine with that. What I wasn't fine with was being squeezed in front and rear by two other vehicles. Again, these things happen. What Iearned, though, is that the vehicle in front belonged to a person who was out of town for a week. The vehicle in back? The owner didn't want to move it because "I'm just too afraid of trying to drive on the street again!" Well, these things don't happen too often, but I have AAA Washington, so I called them. Nope. All their contracted trucks are busy and customers are waiting. Well, I have stuff that is kinda important. The person with AAA Washington suggested I call Gary's Westside Towing. I did. *Ring. Ring, Ring, Ring.* "Gary'swestsidetowing." "Hi, I'm Griz, and I need some help, please." "What kind of help?" "I haven't been in an accident or anything like that; I'm parked legally on a residential street, sandwiched between two other vehicles that parked after I did. I can't get out." "Okay??" "I called AAA Washington, and I was referred to Gary's Westside Towing. Please just pull me out of the parking space. The other two vehicles' drivers are unable to move them. I know I'll pay, and in cash." "No", she told me. "We're not doing any towing like that on icy streets. No. Our trucks are really valuable.....heh." "Thank you for your time." "Yeah, 'K." *click* Well, here is a "Karen", but on the other side of the counter. I've met her before at other places, on the other end of other phone calls. Retail businesses at which I'm happy to throw money for the help I need. I needed help, and that's why I called Gary's Westside Towing. I wasn't in an accident in which my car had rear-ended another on the interstate, resulting in one of the cars being upside down and off the road in the gulley. No, nothing as complicated as that, and I've seen Gary's Westside Towing vehicles handle issues much bigger and more complex that getting a vehicle free from being caught between two others. I don't really think my request was (kinda rudely) refused because of this being 2.7 miles from Gary's Westside Towing (I live in West Seattle); I think it was because there's not much money in 15 minutes' worth of work. I know that sounds cynical, but time is money. Lots of time is lots of money. But I'm willing to be wrong. Regardless, "no" means "no". The upside to the story is that a neighbor realized my predicament and---get this!---using a tow strap and some liberally-applied clay kitty litter, she pulled the out-of-towner's car forward about six feet. With a pickup truck just like mine (but red! SO HOT!). So, Person-Answering-The-Phone at Gary's Westside Towing, here's the real issue I have with that exchange on the phone: I know the value of a well-outfitted tow truck. One of my best friends in Montana has a small fleet of them; three older, two new (F-550s. Just like you have.) And I know the risks of the big calls and the little calls, for older trucks and for new F-550s. Just like you have. What you don't know is the value of my truck. It's a 2011 Ford F-150. Monetarily, it's worth about $15,000.00. But it's value, it's worth, in other ways is inestimable. This is the truck that goes to buy groceries for a family of four, and takes kids to school, the doctor's clinic, takes my old people wherever they need to go, and also, it gets me to work. I know how valuable a truck is. Yours and mine. I hope 2022 will be a better year for you. However, if it's not looking good, I'd like to refer you to my neighbor as a tow truck operator. She got me out of my situation, and charged me a smile and a hug. I'd have paid a lot more than that (in money, not affection) if Gary's Westside Towing had been able to do what she did. And if you don't need a truck operator, maybe you need a phone operator. One who can decline the service of pulling a vehicle without pulling a "Karen" in the process. read more

My alternator died yesterday in the middle of Aloha Ave. S. and I called multiple towing companies, all of which were non-committal about when they could arrive. My Toyota Sienna was blocking traffic in a bad way so I could not afford to wait around for two hours. But, the dispatcher at Gary's said they could be there within 30-50 minutes and they arrived in 40 minutes! They had my AWD minivan safely hooked up and we were rolling away in under 10 minutes. Gary was very angry that I had a sense of Humor. I was willing to pay the high prices to get my money back. I was walking and making jokes. He told me to get the F out of his yard, that he owned it. I asked for my car back and he told me to fuck off and he'll keep it. I had to threaten the call the cops with my receipt in hand. This finally prompted him to allow me to get my car. If you want fast service call the cops. Also a note to all who come here, ensure you get a copy fo your "Right of Redemption and Opportunity for a Hearing Notice. You have the right to a district/municipal court hearing to determine whether or not you can get your fee's back for an illegal tow. They attempted to not give me this until I asked for a couple. Don't just get a receipt. This is DLR-430-506 (R/8/15)WA the forms are also online. This company is housed in District 11 so they might try to trick you on that where you need to input your form/claim. Doing this will force the money they took to go into a trust fund and no one can access until a Judge decides on the case. If Gary had been a little more friendly or at least not aggressive I would not be pursuing this. I have found 3 other people affected by a Tow today and we all will be putting this towards them thus taking ~1k out of their Bank. I urge anyone to demand this hearing. Gary or any other Employee are free to contact me to talk about this Suit and I will be willing to drop this case. My car was towed for no reason from an IHOP I was eating from. When I found out I lost my head especially because they didn't bother to check the vehicle if anyone was inside, which there was. A 60 pound dog in a sub compact in 30 degree heat. No one, not even the driver thought that maybe the reason the car was on remote start keeping it warm was for the dog in the back seat. instead of rushing down and apologizing for not doing their job of checking and getting animal control first, that they would just tell me to buzz of till Monday and they would have animal control come down later to get the dog. My dog was freezing by the time someone finally came down to let me get the car, and only after I called the police. Worst people ever. read more

My review comes from a different perspective as it wasn't a car that I needed helped moving but some construction equipment. I was driving a skid steer too close to an edge and it was soon on the risk of falling down the ditch and damaging another business. Instead of trying to gas my way out of the ditch (and heal my eqo), I decided to do the smart thing and call for some assistance. Gary sent out a driver, Len, and he promptly arrived. This required an unconventional pull and some creative winching. Len could have done a number of things to fuck this up but he didn't. I needed a solution and Len came through both efficiently and professionally. I know I'll be getting myself stuck in future development projects and if I do, Gary's number will be on file ready to go. On a side note, I gotta also say something to the other asshats giving bad reviews. It's understandable to be irate at having your car taken away but the reality is that they have an obligation to the businesses they are contracted to. Separate yourself from the situation and realize that they're doing their job. Give them a shitty review if they messed up your car while towing it, if not, channel your bile by...parking in a correct location. read more

Car wouldn't start on a Friday morning, and I needed a jump or a tow. I called some places from Google, and one of them referred me to Gary's. I explained to them my problem, and they had someone show up at my complex in Belltown within 40 minutes, which is pretty good for a friday morning morning. The dispatcher on the phone was very friendly and very polite. The driver was very helpful, and courteous. He was able to jump my car (fortunately it was only a dead battery and not something worse), and get me on my way. The whole process took not more than 10 minutes. Price worked out to be $90, which was pretty typical for having a tow truck come out. This seemed to be what other towing/roadside assistance companies were charging. Overall, I had no complaints, and would call them again if I needed a tow, or jumping my car didn't work. read more

Unbelievably rude and unhelpful. I called them mid-afternoon on Saturday asking for help towing a car that was in my assigned parking spot at my apartment building. There are Gary's Towing "24/7 Service!" signs all over our garage, so I thought they would be able to help me. However, when I called, I was met with an incredibly rude and patronizing person on the other end of the phone refusing to help me (saying they couldn't help since it was outside of regular business hours). First of all, I don't understand their refusal of service as their business boasts being available 24/7. Second of all, there is no excuse for that level of unprofessionalism in any capacity. No one ever wants to need a tow truck. How could breaking down on I5 during rush hour be on your bucket list? Still...it happens. Driving a 27-year old car, it's happened to me more than once. And, when it does, I call Gary's. I've always received prompt and attentive service. Call backs telling me when the driver is on his way. Drivers who wait with me so a friend can pick up my 120-pound mastiff co-pilot, so she doesn't have to ride in the car to the fix-it shop. Of course, angry people who parked where they shouldn't have are going to give low ratings. However, if you need help, Gary's will be there for you. They towed my car with my puppy inside of it, while I was helping a friend with her baby in the house. Although I was not currently signed into the visitor log in the apartment, I was in a visitor space before I was towed less than 10 minutes after I got there. Not only did they tow my car with my puppy, they didn't even try and contact me stating they had my dog, and then wouldn't even waive the after hours fee, since there was no way I could leave the dog in the impound lot overnight. I wasn't even allowed to come and pick up the dog!! These people are heartless and are just in it for the money. read more

I needed my car towed to the shop apx 6-8 miles away. Gary's Westside Towing quoted $160 and cited it cost that much because they needed to use the hoist to protect the car; but due to the issue I already had with my car, I didn't need them to use it. Gary's dispatcher insisted they would use it and charge for it. I moved on to DIFFERENT COMPANY and got cheerful service for $80. HALF of what Gary's quoted! Then more recently, my son's car was in an accident, and thinking it was undrivable, the police as a courtesy called Gary's Towing. Gary's Towing said they were taking it to their yard, and if my son wanted it taken to his home,, which was about the same distance away, then it would be AN EXTRA $179. He refused their service, as any sensible person should. I don't know why Gary's charges double what others do rather than just work for a living. Also, the Seattle Police Department is doing people a disservice by having Gary's on their call list. The SPD should research who it is they are calling. I wouldn't be surprised if there's palm greasing going on, because that would be the only plausible explanation for why the SPD would have a preference for him at his rates and attitude, and why Gary's has to charge so much more than everybody else. Thank God Gary's not in the ambulance business or he'd be taking out people's organs as payment for their ride. That's the type of businessman he is. Lousy, inhumane and greedy. BEWARE. read more

After one emotionally draining week of anxiety and tears, my stolen vehicle was located at Gary's Westside Towing. Gary was incredibly gracious with helping me get it back. I had spent hours on the phone trying to figure out how I was going to get it back in possession and because of the act of kindness from the owner it's finally home safe. I can't thank them enough for putting up with the hysterical mess I was and for all he did for me. When I thought things kept getting worse, he threw me a bone and made me believe that good people are out there and that is beyond comforting for I was starting to lose faith in people, SPD, and this city. We parked in what we thought was an unmarked lot for a Sounders game with several other fans. Turns out there were Gary's Westside Towing signs, poorly posted in the lot and when we came back our car was gone. Lot-owner conflict aside, when I called Gary's I was told that everyone else paid to park there and we didn't (there was nowhere to pay) and we had to come get it. He said "I'm here now if you can make it down" but when we got there the exact same man told me they had to drive in to meet us so we were going to be charged another $100 just for arriving after hours. We said we'd come back the next day instead and he still tried to charge us the $100 that night just because we arrived at the location. We argued and he backed down just so he could get us out of there. All of this, after lying to us about who we spoke with on the phone and trying to twist the words we said on the phone, as well. He got caught in his lie and got uncomfortable with basic questions from then on out. Very rude and dishonest. Will not be using them for any personal towing needs. read more

Gary snagged my daughters car and then told me flat out if i was at the tow yard anytime after 5pm he would assess a trip charge of 100the bucks. He said there would be no employee there. 509pm there was still a car and the back office lights were on. He stated he does not pay overtime to his employees. I bet the State might like to hear about that. He said to pick the car up in two days becuase that was easier.
