Gary was recommended to me years ago, but we used the dealership for service. Finally, the dealership made what seemed an unreasonable recommendation. So I took it to Gary for a second opinion. So glad I did. We have 4 cars ranging from 60+ years old to 10+ years old & Gary (and the team) work on all of them. They are willing to use parts I source (sometimes from Craig's List) and recommend what needs to be done rather than what could be done. When picking up or dropping off is a logistical problem, they come get me or take me home. And they are all super, super nice & friendly. read more

You know, for what I paid to get my POS fixed I could have used it for a down payment for a brand new fuel efficient car that I actually might like to drive. Anyways, they did a really good job on fixing most of the stuff that was wrong with my car. The other stuff I can change out myself. Gary, the owner dude and the rest of the people that work up there are really nice people and do look out for you and for the best interest of your car. When my card didn't work for some reason, Gary even drove me up to my bank so I could pay him. Cool dude, even offered to get me some Micky D's since it was right next to the bank, hehe. I'll probably be going here to get my oil changes and stuff from now on, until I move again in a couple of months. read more

These are some go-to nice, honest, and professional people for neighborhood car repair. Sadly, sometimes it is hard to find honest people in this business, but these folks are as honest as the day is long and do great work. Notice I did not say they are cheap, but professoonal great mechanics aimply are not cheap, but they are also a good value. read more

I have taken all my cars to Gary Miars Automotive (GMA) for the past 24 years. I have recommended GMA to many friends and family and all are repeat customers. There's never been a problem they haven't solved quickly and I have never been surprised by any outrageous bills. I would recommend GMA to anyone with any sort of car. My Jag, Mustang, Tahoe, 300ZX have all reaped the benefits of GMA's excellent care. My friends and family also take a wide range of vehicles there, from new Beemers and Porches to 1976 Convertible Cadillac Eldorados! Above all, GMA is honest. Something you can't say about a lot of people in this business! I believe it's also one of the reasons why GMA has so many repeat and high profile clients in the DFW area. BOTTOM LINE - If you've got a mechanical issue with your auto, take it to Gary Miars Automotive!! read more

First time here. I was a little anxious seeing that mechanics tend to pull on over on you. They were very friendly and worked with me quickly to get the work I needed done. Will come back next time! read more

This review is way overdue but so worthy. A couple of month ago my SUV started to give me problems after 9 years of great performance. After some research I decided to take my SUV to Gary Miars. From the moment I explained what was happening with my car, they listened and asked to bring it in for diagnosis. Once diagnosed, Ramiro explained to me in a very detailed manner the repairs my car needed which is what I thought it needed. After spending a day and a half at the shop my SUV is like new. Service was awesome and price more than reasonable. Gary Miars will be my go-to shop for my car. I can certainly trust them without being ripped off. Thanks Gary Miars and your team! read more

Gary Miars Automotive is fantastic! Been taking my vehicles there for 19 years and won't trust my car's health to anybody else. His mechanics team has been with him for many years and that is hard to find in this industry. If you have problem other mechanics can't figure it, Gary or his lead mechanic Tony will. I'll pass 40 repair shops on my way from Frisco to drop off my car when it needs a little love. Yep he is that good. Honest, trustworthy, fair, consistent a real class act! That's Gary Miars Automotive! read more

I don't live in Dallas , but have had breakdowns twice in the past several years while visiting family . Gary Miars automotive was recommended to me by my brother in law (who has used them for many years). I was very pleased with their service and pricing . Friendly staff . If I lived there , this would be my "go to" mechanic . read more

I took my high performance car to this place to troubleshoot a check engine light because I wanted to give my business to a local independent place rather than a dealership. They kept the car for 4 days, clearly had no idea what they were doing and then had to find away to compensate themselves for the down time so they marked up the parts by 50% (more than twice what the dealership charged) and charged more than double standard prices for the labor. When I asked to see the invoices for the 2 parts, the owner refused, stating he never shows the customer the receipt for the parts and then claimed he did not have them. He then threatened to impound my car and charge me a daily penalty if I did not pay the invoice in full. When I explained they charged more than double what the dealership quoted for work that would have only taken 1 day and I would have had a complimentary loaner car, he told me next time to take it to the dealership. He said that if I wanted to know what he was repairing, the cost for the parts and labor, I should have asked in advance but I had been asking for the estimate for 2 days and they did not provide one and purportedly made the repairs (or not) without my authorization. They waited until 1 hour before closing on the fourth day (a friday) to give me the "estimate" thinking I would not have time to fact check it (and because I am single and female). This is a dishonest business practice with no customer services skills. I recommend that you avoid this place all together or you fact check the prices and ask to see receipts for the parts. Also, they charge separately to diagnose the problem in addition to charging for the work which the dealership (and most places) do not do. They do not have a shuttle as advertised. You will be put in an Uber. I am not a fan of posting reviews but I wanted future customers to be aware of the business practices at this place. Once I get a copy of the estimate read more

My wife accidentally filled the tank on her Corolla with diesel fuel. I called the Toyota dealership and they asked me to have the car towed to them. They couldn't quote me a price, but said it would take three hours to drop the fuel tank and empty the diesel fuel which sounded expensive (assuming $100 per hour labor rate X 3 hours labor = $300 minimum). My cousin recommended this place to me. Gary Miar quoted $186 and said he would call first before starting the work if it was going to be higher than $186. It was about 5p on a Friday so they would have to start on Monday morning (closed on the weekends). Didn't hear from then by noon on Monday (they open at 7a) so I called and they said the car was ready. Total price was $213 cause they said they put $20 worth of gas in the car. The fuel warning light came on (comes on at about 1/16 full) so on a 12 gallon tank, there's no way they put $20 worth of gas (current unleaded rate roughly $3.50 per galon). Nevertheless I couldn't complain with the total price and would take the car bac to them for future needs. read more

I am new to Dallas and Miars was recommended to me. My check engine light was on and I needed an inspection. They quickly worked this out and reset my engine light and completed the inspection. Price was great and service around my schedule was never a problem. If you need to take the bus back to work, a stop is on the same corner as Miars. They are my mechanic of choice. Dale read more

These guys are awesome! They took the time to explain my situation and even told me that some parts of the repair could wait if my budget didn't allow for it. Because of their honesty I went ahead and went with their recommendations and I'm so happy I did! They were kind and pleasant to talk to and really did outstanding work. I feel like they could've charged me far more than they did. I highly recommend GMA! read more

We had a great experience with Gary Miars Automotive yesterday! My father-in-law and his friend were in town (from out of state) for just one night and needed to get some work done on the truck before they headed out of town the next day on a fishing trip. On Friday afternoon Gary was able to diagnose and repair the problem....in just a matter of hours! We really helped out my father-in-law and his buddy in a big way! Thanks, Gary! read more

Gary and his team did a great job on my Jetta, delivered at the quoted rate and on time. He'll get all of our business moving forward.

I knew what the problem was as it hadhappened before and even advised Gary of this along with giving him the printouts from Pep Boys but apparently he didn't listen. I advised him I was trading in my vehicle so I wanted it to be fixed as inexpensively as possible. Nobody ever called me to give me updates I was constantly having to call up there. Friday my vehicle wasn't ready as promised and Gary stated they couldn't find out what was wrong with it and he would have to do some research over the weekend. I'm pretty sure they never even touched it because Monday when I called I was still getting the run around, they were still running diagnostic testing, etc. It was nearing the end of day Monday and it wasn't fixed. Then Gary calls telling me they figured out the problem and he was having someone run to Plano to pick up the part and it would be ready for me. I was about to head over and then no surprise he calls, he only ever called to give me bad news. They were wrong and that wasn't the problem so it wouldn't be until the next day until it would be ready. Gary yelled at me when I asked him if he checked the coils, I had a problem previously and was doing the same thing. I was at his mercy so I just asked him to please get to it first thing in the morning. I call and he's with a customer but will call me back. He never does so I call again and he tells me it's 2 coils and quotes me a price doubled what Pep Boys charged me 2 months prior. Later that afternoon he calls me back and says it's misfiring, the coils aren't connecting and it will be morning until they can find out how much a new computer will cost. Are you freaking kidding me??!! I reiterated that I was not paying another penny and that I was trading it in so as long as it made it to the dealership it was fine the way it was. He kept trying to scare me saying it's going to drive rough. I told him I didn't care, put it back together and I'd be there to pick it up. Magically when I arrived he told me it was just a bad connection with the coils and it was running perfectly. Seriously you don't check the connection before you try to make the customer buy a new computer? It was quite apparent that he was trying to take advantage of me because I was a woman to see how much he could get out of me. I could have taken it to the dealership and paid less but I was trying to give a job to the little guy in the neighborhood and not sure I will ever do that again because of my experience with Gary Miars!! The manager and other employees there were friendly it's a shame that the owner was so very rude and unprofessional. Shame on him! read more
