You know, for what I paid to get my POS fixed I could have used it for a down payment for a brand new fuel efficient car that I actually might like to drive. Anyways, they did a really good job on fixing most of the stuff that was wrong with my car. The other stuff I can change out myself. Gary, the owner dude and the rest of the people that work up there are really nice people and do look out for you and for the best interest of your car. When my card didn't work for some reason, Gary even drove me up to my bank so I could pay him. Cool dude, even offered to get me some Micky D's since it was right next to the bank, hehe. Gary was recommended to me years ago, but we used the dealership for service. Finally, the dealership made what seemed an unreasonable recommendation. So I took it to Gary for a second opinion. So glad I did. We have 4 cars ranging from 60+ years old to 10+ years old & Gary (and the team) work on all of them. They are willing to use parts I source (sometimes from Craig's List) and recommend what needs to be done rather than what could be done. Great Service!!! My breaks were giving me issues and then COVID hit. Fortunately they were open as I also needed oil change and inspection. They were amazing! They picked up my car for me and even delivered it back to me once they were done and I paid over the phone, they even sanitized my car as well! WOW! Great communication during entire process. This review is way overdue but so worthy. A couple of month ago my SUV started to give me problems after 9 years of great performance. After some research I decided to take my SUV to Gary Miars. From the moment I explained what was happening with my car, they listened and asked to bring it in for diagnosis. Once diagnosed, Ramiro explained to me in a very detailed manner the repairs my car needed which is what I thought it needed. After spending a day and a half at the shop my SUV is like new. I took my high performance car to this place to troubleshoot a check engine light because I wanted to give my business to a local independent place rather than a dealership. They kept the car for 4 days, clearly had no idea what they were doing and then had to find away to compensate themselves for the down time so they marked up the parts by 50% (more than twice what the dealership charged) and charged more than double standard prices for the labor. When I asked to see the invoices for the 2 parts, the owner refused, stating he never shows the customer the receipt for the parts and then claimed he did not have them. He then threatened to impound my car and charge me a daily penalty if I did not pay the invoice in full. When I explained they charged more than double what the dealership quoted for work that would have only taken 1 day and I would have had a complimentary loaner car, he told me next time to take it to the dealership. He said that if I wanted to know what he was repairing, the cost for the parts and labor, I should have asked in advance but I had been asking for the estimate for 2 days and they did not provide one and purportedly made the repairs (or not) without my authorization. They waited until 1 hour before closing on the fourth day (a friday) to give me the "estimate" thinking I would not have time to fact check it (and because I am single and female). This is a dishonest business practice with no customer services skills. I recommend that you avoid this place all together or you fact check the prices and ask to see receipts for the parts. Also, they charge separately to diagnose the problem in addition to charging for the work which the dealership (and most places) do not do. They do not have a shuttle as advertised. You will be put in an Uber. I am not a fan of posting reviews but I wanted future customers to be aware of the business practices at this place. Once I get a copy of the estimate read more

I am new to Dallas and Miars was recommended to me. My check engine light was on and I needed an inspection. They quickly worked this out and reset my engine light and completed the inspection. My wife accidentally filled the tank on her Corolla with diesel fuel. I called the Toyota dealership and they asked me to have the car towed to them. They couldn't quote me a price, but said it would take three hours to drop the fuel tank and empty the diesel fuel which sounded expensive (assuming $100 per hour labor rate X 3 hours labor = $300 minimum). My cousin recommended this place to me. Gary Miar quoted $186 and said he would call first before starting the work if it was going to be higher than $186. It was about 5p on a Friday so they would have to start on Monday morning (closed on the weekends). Didn't hear from then by noon on Monday (they open at 7a) so I called and they said the car was ready. Total price was $213 cause they said they put $20 worth of gas in the car. The fuel warning light came on (comes on at about 1/16 full) so on a 12 gallon tank, there's no way they put $20 worth of gas (current unleaded rate roughly $3.50 per galon). Nevertheless I couldn't complain with the total price and would take the car bac to them for future needs. read more

I knew what the problem was as it hadhappened before and even advised Gary of this along with giving him the printouts from Pep Boys but apparently he didn't listen. I advised him I was trading in my vehicle so I wanted it to be fixed as inexpensively as possible. Nobody ever called me to give me updates I was constantly having to call up there. Friday my vehicle wasn't ready as promised and Gary stated they couldn't find out what was wrong with it and he would have to do some research over the weekend. I'm pretty sure they never even touched it because Monday when I called I was still getting the run around, they were still running diagnostic testing, etc. It was nearing the end of day Monday and it wasn't fixed. Then Gary calls telling me they figured out the problem and he was having someone run to Plano to pick up the part and it would be ready for me. I was about to head over and then no surprise he calls, he only ever called to give me bad news. They were wrong and that wasn't the problem so it wouldn't be until the next day until it would be ready. Gary yelled at me when I asked him if he checked the coils, I had a problem previously and was doing the same thing. I was at his mercy so I just asked him to please get to it first thing in the morning. I call and he's with a customer but will call me back. He never does so I call again and he tells me it's 2 coils and quotes me a price doubled what Pep Boys charged me 2 months prior. Later that afternoon he calls me back and says it's misfiring, the coils aren't connecting and it will be morning until they can find out how much a new computer will cost. Are you freaking kidding me??!! I reiterated that I was not paying another penny and that I was trading it in so as long as it made it to the dealership it was fine the way it was. He kept trying to scare me saying it's going to drive rough. I told him I didn't care, put it back together and I'd be there to pick it up. Magically when I arrived he told me it was just a bad connection with the coils and it was running perfectly. Seriously you don't check the connection before you try to make the customer buy a new computer? It was quite apparent that he was trying to take advantage of me because I was a woman to see how much he could get out of me. I could have taken it to the dealership and paid less but I was trying to give a job to the little guy in the neighborhood and not sure I will ever do that again because of my experience with Gary Miars!!
