Do not bring your car here! They do not stand by their work and you could pay dearly. Gary Knurek Goodyear destroyed our car and offered us nothing in compensation. We brought our 4Runner in on 9/3/2020 to have the timing belt replaced and the cooling system overhauled. My first time driving the car and less than 100 miles after Goodyear "fixed it", the engine overheated and blew the head gasket. Gark Knurek Goodyear claimed that the overheating was unrelated to any repairs that they performed, even though they overhauled the entire cooling system. 3 other mechanics have since looked at the car and verified that the cause was in fact an issue with the cooling system. As a result, we have had to scrap the car and buy a new one. A $15,000 mistake I will not be making again. We had previously used them for at least 15 years. They used to be a stand up and friendly mechanic for us, but not so any more. read more

I would not recommend this business and I'm surprised it has as high of a rating as it does. After checking my car for a rattling noise, they replaced my struts and it was a bit pricey, but I decided to have it done for convenience. The mechanic left a black oil spot on my passenger side seat, so I had to mention it to them and they promptly cleaned the spot on the seat. This was my second visit since having my cabin filter replaced with no issues. This was approximately 5 months ago, and about a month ago I started hearing a rattling noise again. I took my car to my dealer and they diagnosed the sound as an improper installation, stating that not only had the mechanic at Gary Knurek's installed low-quality struts, but that the mounts had not been tightened properly. Considering the high cost for the initial repair, and now having paid an additional fee that could have been avoided, I have to say I am disappointed in their work and I would not recommend Gary Knurek's for service. read more

I found a really good tire place today. I was referred by Robin from Sommerset to try this place said did great HONEST work. I wasn't disappointed! I walked in and Tom took care of me right away with great customer service. They worked me in. I had a nail in my tire. They fixed it within a hour and i was on my way. Tom and Chuck run the front desk and i was listening to them while waited and they were friendly with everyone. It's nice that some places still have good customer service. I worry going into tire places they will rip me off cause i'm a girl (cause they have in past) but not this place. I will definitely be a returning customer if i have any tire issue. What can I say? This service center is top notch. Not only did they diagnose and fix my problem in the same day, they also charged me LESS than what was quoted. These guys know how to exceed a customer's expectations! Jeep was even ready for pickup BEFORE the scheduled time. Who does this anymore? No one! They literally saved me hundreds on a rental, since no dealership would even touch it for days. Very busy shop where people actually WORK. No slacking off that I could see. Just many happy customers. I heard great things about this place. So I took off work early with a coworker to get an inspection on a car; I called ahead, but they said they could easily take a look. We got there at 5:30 and the mechanic told us that they are closing at 6 pm and that it would take ''half an hour'' so he won't take us in. The next day, we left work early AGAIN but this time we called in the day and a guy said he would see us, and I asked if it's okay that we come in the evening before their close, and the guy on the phone said it's fine, just as long as there isn't a long wait. So we left work at 4:30 and called on the road and asked if they would see us; the new guy on the phone said it depends on what we are doing. I asked for an inspection, and he said, "we're closing in an hour and a half, we're pretty busy so no we can't see you." Needless to say I'm never going to take my car there, and I found a better auto shop in town open until 7 pm and willing to work even if it was an hour before close. The car I wanted to buy has a few problems and a check engine light problem, but we won't be going to Gary to get it fixed. read more

The body shop sent me to Knurek Goodyear for alignment (at their expense) when they fixed my car after an accident. Knurek called after checking my car and said that I needed both front and rear brakes, that the front ones had 5% left and the rear ones 28%. Since the car has under 40,000 miles I told them I had to think it over and took the car to Midas, my mechanic, who said that the brakes are fine. This was almost 2 months ago and I have had no problems. They quoted $650 for the unneeded repairs. To do this to a retired woman is atrocious. read more

I have always believed that some things happen for a reason. While I was driving to the office this morning I could hear a noice coming from the back of the car. When I got there there was air coming out from one of the back tires. I decided to get back in and start driving to a nearby location that I frequent for those kind of repairs. As I started to drive I could see that the air pressure of that tire was almost to single digits. I looked around and there was Gary Knurek's Goodyear Tire store. I pulled right in. I explained the problem and was told that was next I line. I sat in the lobby and was watching the people working at the counter and interacting with customers in person or on the phone. I was really impressed by how polite everyone was. You could really tell that customer service is a top priority here. I also noticed on their digital tV that they do all kinds of repairs as well. They ended up repairing my tire and I was about to pay when I was told by the owner that there was going to be no charge. I asked why. He told me it was my first time there and they appreciated my coming in. Of course I thanked them and told them that I would continue to come here since my office is around the corner. I have been in business for a longtime and I know for a fact that customer service and the way you treat people is what sets you apart from other ones out there. read more

My 1995 Mercedes E300 required a 4-wheel alignment. I phoned in advance and they assured me that they could perform it to factory specifications. I brought the car in. In the following weeks of highway driving it was clear that the alignment was not correct. The car was now twitchy and unstable at highway speeds. I phoned them to ask about remedies and to again make sure that the car had been aligned to Mercedes standards. I discussed how the Mercedes factory service manual requires use of a spreader bar to set proper front axle toe angle. If not used, it causes these symptoms. The assistant manager assured me with 99% certainty that the spreader bar had been used, but he said they could re-check the car under the alignment warranty. He was polite and seemed concerned about correcting it. But, when I brought the car back for the re-check, I was immediately told by the manager that the car was aligned according to their procedures and that they NEVER use a spreader bar, under any circumstances. I showed him where the factory manual explicitly requires the spreader bar. He dismissed it. He said his guy has 20 years experience and a $40,000 machine, so they don't need to follow the factory requirements! I asked him to explain how they get the proper toe angle then. He got belligerent. Seriously, all I wanted at that point was an explanation... some re-assurance that they could get around that requirement and still do a good job. It was apparently too much to ask. They messed up my car, yet I got yelled at! I asked for a refund since it was clear they couldn't do the work properly. He refused. They could probably do an OK job on a normal car, but for sheer arrogance and poor customer service, I would never recommend them again. Big waste of time and money. read more

These guys didn't bother to take me back to shop to show me and explain issues with my brakes while they had it up on hoist, ie how worn pads were, rotors etc. Wrote up a significantly inflated quote that was MORE THAN DOUBLE the quote from 2 additional shops I had inspection done. I had work done finally at Brakes & More in Clawson. Glad I did! (anyone reading this make sure you go there instead of this Goodyear)..included in the inflated quote was "Front disc overhaul" @ $299 whatever the hell that means..."Rear disc overhaul" @$289..again, makes no sense. These two additional items were ON TOP of all four rotors and front and rear pads plus inflated labor charges. Watch these guys..they mask their gouging with "courteous and friendly demeanor". read more

Brought my car in for a routine oil change today and let them know there was some leaking and if they could check it out. Come to find that my oil pan drain plug had busted (due to lousy job at previous oil change) and part of it was in my oil pan. Stressed thinking I needed a WHOLE NEW oil pan,Randy "The Miracle Worker" was able to fish out the broken piece and save me 500 plus dollars. These guys are the best! I had a mystery issue that brought my car in multiple times, and each time they went above and beyond to fix the problem. Even refunding previous charges because it wasn't fixed right the first time. I have been taking my cars to Gary for a few years now. They have always done a great job. A few times they have talked me out of parts or services I thought I needed but didn't. Their prices are always lower than the dealer as well. Numerous oil changes and tire and wheel purchases along with brake rotor machining....all have been great. Shop is small, crowded and dirty. Staff is professional and friendly. However, they do seem to charge for things you don't really need. We seriously love this place! My husband and his family have been coming here for years and they have also taken great care of them. We live in royal oak so it's not super far, but there are definitely closer places to get an oil change/maintenance and we always come here anyway. They are reasonable and fair. They never try to do things on your car that aren't needed. I recently brought my explorer in with a cracked passenger side mirror. Because it's a newer vehicle they glass couldn't be ordered without replacing the entire mirror which would be around $500. Instead Gary Jr. Popped the glass back on and recommended fixing it down the road if I want to save some money. Even though it was an easy fix, most places definitely would have charged for the labor/having to call around. He didn't charge me a thing! I also love the fact that their sweet, old dog, Honey is a frequent visitor of the store. I highly recommend using Gary Knurek for all of your auto. needs. read more

took my truck there to have some work done. the price was high but they came recommended by a family member. i go there to pick it up and now it wont start. some how the alarm that has not been in use for almost 2 years armed itself and wont allow me to get it started. now i have a truck that wont start and i have to deal with trying to figure out how to get it started. after spending $860 im very disappointed in the service and will not be taking anything i own back to them. read more
