I've been coming here for years and never had an issue. Then I came in today to get .a tire fixed that had a slow leak. I just bought the tires from them 2 yrs ago. They tried to sell me 2 tires for $500 which I couldn't afford. Then they pushed me to buy $80 of wiper blades that I didn't need. I wait until they close in fact just for the man to walk out and tell me that they actually don't have my tire so I waited two hours for nothing and I had already paid for the tire so I couldn't go anywhere else so I had to spend $30 on an Uber to go home $30 on an Uber day $30 to get back to discount tire I get my tire and I leave now the next day I'm driving my car another one of my tires popped so I think Man I should go back to that discount tire they just ordered my tire while it turns out a different discount tire at the tire so I go to this one not only is the cashier very rude to me because apparently the tire I'm buying is too he tells me they won't put it on because the tire is too big. They can't even order it in fact, and then he changes his tune when I literally showed him that exact tire on my car from the day before and he somehow acts like this is my fault and he's very rude to me his name was Harold turns out they don't have the tire shocker so I tell them to order the tire and they very reluctantly do so tells me they'll call me when it's ready so I wait three days for a phone call and I never get one. They came early, the team at DT on 14 mile called to let me know they were in early and if I had time, swing by they could get them installed same day! So I did. Victor and the team took great care of me, double checking fitment and got me out the door in aprox 1 hour! They absolutely over delivered on sales, service and expectations. I'm not one to post bad reviews but this was a bit ridiculous. I made an appointment for 3:45 pm for a tire rotation and balance and arrived promptly on time for the appointment. Handed over my keys and sat in the waiting room, the gentleman told me it would be about an hour. At around 4:50pm a service worker pulled my vehicle into a bay where it sat. At 5:15 pm my vehicle was still sitting and I asked the gentleman who had helped me earlier if he knew how much longer we were looking at? He had no idea. I said if they haven't started working on it I was not interested in waiting. Zero efforts made to help a customer who has purchased several sets of tires from Discount over the years. Just curious what the point of an appointment is for a simple rotate and balance if you can't keep the appointment or at least give the courtesy of saying they were behind when I first got there. I've worked in the auto industry at various levels including rotating/balancing/mounting wheels and tires. It's pretty disappointing when you pay for the warranty package for tire rotations and balancing but cannot even use the service because the shop can't manage their walk ins/appointments. If you attempt to pickup a tire delivery for roadie here you will wait 15 min minimum for your $10 order so you can make 3$ a hour or work for free. Update I updated rating to a 2 after receiving a $5 tip for the first time. It's wild to me a huge corporation like discount only has 2 employees average working the front when there's 6 registers. Maybe setup a more efficient system for drivers pick ups & doesn't require extensive waits for the driver that gets negatively rated for delayed orders. You guys should be paying no less than a dollar a mile nowadays so stop with the 14 mile rides paying $11 & saying they're 10 miles to your other store in Utica. They were quick to get my in for new tires however they never said they stay open past their listed hours to finish the cars left. The gentleman on the phone stated they would get it done at the end of the day, I figured by 5pm since that's when they close but this was not the case. They also stated that I needed to wait around for my car to get done however could not give me a time of when it would actually get done which I thought to be unprofessional and rude. I would avoid Troy discount tire if you can but if you need tires asap and cannot wait then call ahead to see if tires are available and come in early. They seemed overworked and there's miscommunication between the front desk guy and they guys in the bay about how many cars they should do in a day so they don't get burned out by staying late to finish is the cars squeezed in. read more

Will upsell you and treat you like you're stupid. Name was Gerald I believe. Wouldn't let me talk and kept talking over me while I was explaining my concern. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION BECAUSE THEY DO NOT TRAIN THEIR EMPLOYEES THE BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF TIRES. DISRESPECTFUL, SHADY, AND UNEDUCATED. Got my tires replaced at 14 and gratiot discount tire. They forgot to recalibrate my tire sensors. I called ahead to the troy location, they told me to come in and they'll look at it. After walking to my car and looking at the tires he told me the batteries in all 4 tires were dead. He didn't know that I had a module upgrade on my computer to go with my touchscreen radio. My screen has its own diagnostics pages where I'm able to read my tire pressures. My tire had a leak when I took it to 14 and gratiot so after I got the car back from service, the sensor was still reading low. It's winter so I woke up and my tire sensor light came on in my car because overnight it read from 28 psi to 24psi. And anything under 25psi throws the dashboard light on. So All I asked was for the sensors to be recalibrated. I've worked in auto service and still communicate with buddies in service who immediately told me it was a "red flag" and he was trying to upsell me. Gerald I think his name is at the troy location didn't know that the tire pressure dashboard light flashes if a battery is dead on the sensor. My values on the touchscreen diagnostics page should also read 0 or - if the sensor in the tire died, however they still read perfectly fine and his response is to ask me how old my sensors are as if that's my issue on all 4 when they were just replaced 40,000 miles ago and still work perfectly fine. read more

Last week of December, 2023. Went to store at 14Mile between John R Rd & Dequindre Rd. Bordering Troy/Madison Heights, MI. Went in on a Thursday with a slow leak and a tire that had been previously plugged with prior owners. Sales representative reviewed the tire with me and found the old plug and instead of replacing just one tire I took advantage of their sale and went ahead with four tires. However, after it was in the bay, they discovered they only had two of the four I wanted so switched me to four other tires. I was OK with that at first. Car came out of the bay, pretty goopy and was a couple dings on my wheel. The weights were sloppy. Needless to say this was upsetting and I reported it to management management who assured me there would be a repair on the wheel and I'd hear back to schedule this. Come up to Saturday morning and no new information. Having had reviewed and researching the installed tires, I discovered that the new tires weren't really up to spec for my vehicle. This was disappointing as well, including a different revolution, speed difference, gas, mileage, etc. Having been disappointed with the whole experience overall and now with the sour taste of my mouth not hearing back about my rims, I went back into the store Saturday morning. Was able to speak with the store manager privately and explain the issues. Also explained that we are long-term discount tire customers in two different states. Asked him to make this good and make things like new again. Without a blink of an eye, he took our keys and accepted our problem with ease after one hour we had the correct tires, nice and shiny and clean with weights properly installed. Also an appointment for wheel repair. This is how we would've expected it done the first time. Customer Service was definitely a priority in this case and I will definitely recommend and continue to use the Discount Tire at this location. I haven't had the best experience with other discount tire stores but this one I can say is pretty good. I needed a wheel/tire replaced ASAP today so I called and brought my car to the store. They worked FAST, I was out in like 30 freakin minutes. I've had a mirad of tire problems in the past so it was an absolute relief to be able to get my car up and going in speedy time. Plus, they are pretty fast on the air check. Only complaint I've got is that there warranty can be a bit stingy in terms of how the tire got damaged. Overall, great team and fast service! read more

I had my front tires replaced in Waterford a while back while passing through well long story short the hub cap flew off a few hours after and being that I'm a single mom working two jobs and living in the TROY/Madison heights area it made it really difficult for me to get back to the Waterford area to replace it Well I finally figured out how to get it done in Troy and they resolved all my issues pronto! 6/13/23 I've been going to Discount Tire since I was in high school so, 15 years. By far the WORST experience I have ever had at this location (and 14mile and John R). My husband and I have been coming here for years and have never had issues until today. I arrived at the location and was speaking to an employee (Harold) at 9:15am. By the time he put all my info in the computer my check in time showed 9:23am. When I arrived there were 2 other customers waiting along with myself. Harold who assisted me assured me they'd have my car in and finished as soon as possible but it shouldn't be too long. I was given no estimate finish time as I noticed others coming in after myself had. I had seen no exaggeration at least 20 people come in and leave some with their cars since I had arrived. I understood they were busy so I waited until 11am to ask were I was in the que. At that time Harold wasn't the kindest and showed me on the screen where I was in line. He showed me the appointments that were ahead of me and according to Harold it didn't matter if an appointment that was after the time I came in my car was bumped each time. I was then told they were also short-handed today at this time. I was assured they would move my car up in line with someone who had dropped their car off since I was waiting but it didn't seem like this happened. I don't understand why it wasn't communicated when I arrived they were short handed and slammed with appointments, I would have scheduled an appointment and brought my car back in. Instead I waited 3 hours before my car was brought into a bay at 12:10pm and didn't drive off with my car until 1:02pm. To make things worse others who did have appointments at 9:30am and 9:45am were still sitting there waiting with me at the 12:30pm. Extremely disappointed in how this whole situation was handled. There was zero communication, no respect for customers or their time, and the rudeness on top of it all was beyond frustrating. The customer service was beyond terrible. read more

Came here during the week day shortly after it opened at 8 and was out within 45 minutes (with 5 other cars in the shop ahead of me). I was a bit apprehensive and wondered if my experience here would be similar to the location in Ypsi, but thankfully it wasn't. The person helping me was friendly, personable and informative. And most importantly not pushy. Paid $40 for balance and rotation since the car I took in was different but once I purchase new tires, the service will be included free of charge. Most tire purchasing comes when you need it, which is usually a bad time or an "I need it now" thing. And the overall experience can just plain suck. But it doesn't need to be that way at all. I have purchased two sets of tires (regular and snow tires) and two sets of wheels from Discount Tire at this location over the past six years. And they have proven to be great guys to work with each time. I was looking for a specific model of tire both times and instead of trying to sell something off the shelf, they found what I wanted, got them right away, and the price was very, very competitive. For the snow tires, they cost less than I expected based upon other stores. Extra bonus, unlike their big competitor BT (rhymes with Belle Tire), these guys don't do all the other services, just tires. So they won't BS you into services you won't need. They will happily refer you to places for oil changes, alignments, struts, and everting else. They only do tires and they do it really well. FYI, since I have the snows and regular tires on separate rims (and I bought them from DT), they swap them out for me every spring and fall - no charge ever. Rotations and air checks are free and pretty quick for either. I have made no less than 10 referrals to this store and each person I steered there is a satisfied as I am. If you need tires, call these guys. If they aren't as good as I say, then try somewhere else. But start here. read more
