We recently had a gathering here coz the organizer is Lebanese. There were four tables of us, on a Sunday night. It was a pleasant experience overall with a little bit service problem for a huge group like us, around 40 ppl I believe. The food, in general, was nice. We had bread to start with, and some tea. Then, the main kafta and eggplant were both delicious. However, I cannot deny the service was quite slow. I was starving after an hour there, even with some bread and dipping. After the main course, dessert and tea were served. Not quite in an order, but I guess coz they are short of staffs. It's not that bad. For food, I will give maybe 4 stars but the service can only have three to be honest. read more

Grilled Vegetables -comes with grilled zucchini. squash, Mushrooms smells delish! -this is legit, perfect grilled flavor!**** -I would order this again! And dip it in the home made hot sauce (taste like spicy home made salsa) Garson special pasta -smells like butter yum! Bearable but not desirable. The chive sauce is creamy, doesn't taste too bad.. This restaurant is a real scam. Be very careful. I went to this restaurant, and we ordered two types of chicken, and it cost me $51 rather than $40. When I asked the owner, he did not answer me correctly and mentioned that they charged a service fee and taxes. The service was poor. Please do not waste your time, money, and feelings at this place. Tried this place for the first time with one other person. We started with the hummus, which was decent, but nothing special. We then shared a large plate #55, which had really flavorful beef, chicken, rice and roasted veggies. The waiter was very nice, but was tasked with taking orders, bussing tables, etc, so was unable to be as attentive as he should have been. I sat without water for about 10 or so mins before finally asking someone if I could have more. When we received the check, there was a $3 charge for sharing the dinner plate, despite ordering an appetizer and dinner vs two dinner plates (which would have come out to around the same amount of money). I don't agree with an extra charge for sharing a meal (especially when you've ordered additional food) and it would have been nice if the waiter had told us that a split plate cost an extra $3. Due to the nickel and diming, I will not be back ... being greedy will not pay off in the end. read more

Houston hometown staple, been here for decades. They home made bread is made in a purpose built oven - fantastic but don't over do it! 90% of the time I order the Shishkabob mince meat or chicken plus dill rice and roasted tomatoes. This is a great place that I drive past everyday but finally decided to try. It's a pretty casual place to get lunch but they have different events and even belly dancers during the evening. They offer lunch combos on the menu but I ended up getting the koubideh kabobs (which isn't on the lunch menu) and it was so tasty! Both the beef and the chicken were tender and had flavor. Each combo comes with either white rice or dill rice and your table comes with greens and feta cheese as a starter. We also ordered the hummus as a starter and I was really impressed! They make the pita fresh so it's nice and hot when it gets to you! Would recommended if you're looking for authentic Persian food. Only knock I would have is the service. We were 1 of 3 tables during lunch on a Wednesday and the service was extremely slow! Which was unfortunate because we were on a time crunch. We also ordered espresso at the end of the meal, which our waiter accepted, and came back three minutes later to let us know that they espresso machine broke last night so they couldn't make the coffee. Visiting Houston for my Mother In-law's Birthday we all decided to have the party at Garson. Start with Hospitality, A warm welcome by the owner and staff. Then their appetizer, every dish was more amazing than the other and right when we got ready for dinner there was so much food and a variety of different items that we forgot that we ate so much appetizer's, everything on the table was eaten. That didn't stop us we continued with the most amazing and delicious ice cream and Persian sweet noodle dessert. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. read more

Came here with my family of 14 on a sunday for lunch. Called ahead for a reservation. There were only 12 other people besides our table in the whole restaurant. It took1.5 hours to get our food. Getting appetizers was a hassle, imagine trying to get a drink refill. One side of the table got their food while the other half was missing for another 20 minutes,making it a very uncomfortable lunch as half our group watched the others eat with empty plates. When they finally brought the food, nobody in the our group really enjoyed it. .We spoke to the manager who really could not give us a good explanation.ice cream was brought out to make the situation better. The service was terrible; took so long for 3 plates of food to come out. The waitress didn't even refill our water cup and then my leftovers I was going to take home she put a dirty plate on top of it and then as the nerve to ask if I still want it. Really poor service and of coarse the tip as already added. I spoke to some random worker and he didn't seem to care much. Def not the high end Persian place. I came in from Florida and had been asking my Iranian friends before my arrival to take me to Garson, because I enjoy their Persian cuisine. We got to Garson and it's my best friend (Iranian) and two of our friends also Iranian ask for a table of four. The manager or whoever that guy was standing out in front was rude and unaccommodating. We got seated. Our so called waiter came out an over weight Arab dude, and he is just rude as can be. Our waiter and the manager combined were so unaccommodating to our dinner requests and grudgefully made our food, I mean this place seriously lacks customer service on all levels. So I'm the only white American in our group and for some reason I'm the only one to get sick out of the 4 and literally thought I was going to die. I had to get up from my seat and excuse my self, as I fell down at the curb outside barfing my guts out, what the hell did they do to my food? None of my other friends got sick, but I literally was very sick for 3 days after this event. I ordered the chicken and it was grilled and thoroughly cooked, I think I was poisoned. I have a medical degree, I know these things. Be weary of this place. They are not nice to Americans or even Iranian-Americans. Steer clear of this place and avoid getting super sick if you can! All the food served in the beginning was fine, because all 4 of us ate the 3 appetizers we ordered, it wasn't until my entree I took a couple bites and had to run outside, sweating thinking I was going to die. This place is rude. Very unaccommodating. Give your money to Kasra or Bejan. Just a note, I was the Yelper who previously posted pictures of Garson on my prior experience there. I had a work event in the area so checked out Garson after my boss recommended it. Nice looking restaurant and they serve you fresh pita bread to start things off. The bread wasn't as fluffy as ilike it but good nonetheless to start things off. I went with the Garson special which is a combo meal of chicken and beef kebabs with 1/2 white rice and 1/2 dill rice. I hadn't had dill rice before but it's tasty and I would take it over white rice every time. The meat was juicy and well-seasoned with the beef being better than the chicken. Service was pretty good and it's a nice looking restaurant. They also had fresh lemonade which is always a plus in my book! Good food, nothing stood out and you'll have enough for a to-go box as they give you plentiful rice. read more

I ate here with a group of friends, and thought it was a great experience. The food was really good, the servers were nice and I liked the ambience. I was a little disappointed by the lack of vegetarian options, but I guess that should have been expected. They did have several veggie options on the appetizers menu, so I ordered two apps: hummus and shirazi salad. I had meant to order the apps as my meal - but they both came out as appetizers. Oops. It wasn't a big deal though, because they were quickly followed by everyone else's food. They were both very good, but I especially loved the hummus. They also served pita bread with lemon and feta cheese before our meals. Delicious! I tasted the Mizra Ghasemi (grilled eggplant with tomato, garlic and scrambled eggs), which was very good. I wasn't a big fan of the dill rice, but I don't like dill flavor in general. The lime vinaigrette dressing on the shirazi salad was very acidic and kind of burned my lips, but still tasted good. I wasn't planning on buying dessert, but when they brought out the dessert tray, I couldn't resist. And I'm glad I didn't, the baklava was amazing!! Garson was a pleasant experience. I love that Persian food is so flavorful! I have to say that my favorite thing about this meal was the flat bread with feta, onion, and basil. Best thing, this comes free with the meal! As for the other beef dishes. I thought some were a hit or a miss. Some of the beefs were flavored very nicely, whereas other dishes were a bit on the bland side. Customer service was on point, they were pleasant, cordial, and very efficient. read more

We went to this restaurant this past weekend as a group of eight adults and 1 baby. Mind you, the baby did not belong to all eight of us, but in any case, the restaurant was very accommodating and willing to give us separate checks! There were a few couples, a few singles, and a child; we all were able to get our order promptly and without error! It is so nice when orders are both timely and without error for a large group! On the table I saw chicken barg, boneless chicken, lamb shank, and a shrimp/chicken combination dish. NO ONE complained about their dish...if anything, there were compliment around the table. It was all seasoned perfectly and so delicious! We definitely hope to return and know it's great for our families given their varied tastes. We find that Garson offers a nice mix of spicy, not too spicy, and lightly seasoned dishes .... for everyone! We hope to return soon, especially since the service was great! Oh, and the Persian tea, as recommended by everyone, was wonderful and bottomless :) read more

My parents immigrated here 22 years ago, and for nearly 20 years this has been our favorite restaurant of all time. The staff is friendly, and the food is utterly delicious. Love the naan and feta cheese before you get your food. I would recommend getting the eggplant for your appetizer, and If you're willing to spend more money and like fish, I suggest the red snapper for dinner. SO GOOD!!! The sauce and the mushroom an everything, so good!! To get the same taste for cheaper price go for the sautéed chicken! Last week I tried the beef medallions and I'm still very impressed. 20 years have past and I hope for 20 years more to come ! Definitely one of the best foods I've ever had. read more

Came here with one of my best friends, who's Persian and their family so I had lots of help deciding what to order. Pleased to say though that everything I tasted I enjoyed. Don't come here thinking that it's going to be similar to most generic Mediterranean places you see around Houston that serve kabob. The flavors are different. The standout dish for me was actually the first thing that we were served. The Babaghanosh is this chunky eggplant dip that I couldn't stop eating with the naan. Actually, it really did go well with everything I had that night and the bowl its served in is pretty big. Overall it was a great experience and I look forward to not only coming back here but trying other more popular Persian restaurants in the city. read more

I'm Persian so I know my Persian food. Ive been to Garson many times and it never disappointed. I can say that it is one of the best Persian/Mediterranean restaurants I have ever been in Houston. They have the best hummus I have ever had. I loved their Persian style eggplant and tah-deeg (crispy rice topped with a special Persian stew) appetizer too. I always get the chenjeh kabob with sour cherry rice. It is very tender beef kabob with fluffy rice and when combined with sour cherry gives it an unforgettable taste. I'm not a big dessert guy so I've never tried any of the desserts, but I always ask for a it off with a nice cup of Persian mint tea which is also great and soothing. Their service was always very good, specially Salar. He was very nice and kept checking on us to see if everything is perfect. Overall I've been very satisfied with my experience and Garson. read more

First off, for those who crave Persian food the quality was very average. What started my review rant was the moment I stepped inside the completely empty restaurant. The waiter greeted us and asked us how many people were going to dine with them tonight. I replied with "10 people". The surprised look I got was scary and then she asked "you didn't make a reservation?" I mean I didn't know what else to do, I scanned the completely empty dining room and asked if all the empty tables were taken? I decided to let that go. Next the Freeze. Apparently the heaters were not working tonight. We had asked them twice to turn up the heat if at all possible and the response was that the manager is taking care of it. To top the frozen environment they served us desserts straight from the freezer. For those who know your Persian cuisine we are talking about zooloobia. I mean I've never had a frozen erosion in my life. Finally when we went to pay, my wife noticed that the thermostats were turned off asked the manager about the cold again and the turned off thermostats the manager replied with... "well your not in a home, you are at a restaurant". I mean WOW, never had a so called manager insult a paying guests. Who ever owns this establishment better get the staff and management trained or retrained. I would give this place a zero. Never again. read more

I visited Garson's restaurant for the first time yesterday. I came around 8 pm on a friday and it wasnt busy at all. We were invited by family friends who chose the place, which is 5 minutes from my house. Unfortunately when i first walked in, there was a weird smell. I didn't pay attention once seeing family friends. I did not order, but i had the lentil? Soup, which was a little cold but it was still good. My boyfriend along with his mom and dad did not like the soup, but my boyfriends nephew did. The hummus was average. The bread was good! The other two dips that were put on the table were not good. Main course was the best part. 12 people plus a baby shared 3 orders of the mixed kabob plate? I dont know the name as i did not order. The green pepper and onion was good! The tomato was ok. The kafta kabob and chicken kabob were great! The beef kabob? Was ok. The mixed rice (green rice with some type of bean in it, with white rice) was amazing. Best part! I want to make that green rice one day The service was good, one waitress was helping us. The only problem with service was the drink orders were messed up twice. Oh, and that the manager kept staring at me as she was walking back and forth. I don't prefer to be stared at while eating. I would probably only go back for the rice and the kabob. But i would dress up more fancy next time, maybe then i wouldn't be stared at! Lol. read more

I've been coming here for years. So it's bittersweet for me to leave this review. The restrooms smelled horrible and were subpar. Especially during this pandemic, you would think the restrooms would be cleaner, sanitized, checked more often. Door to women's restroom doesn't even close. On to the food. They now serve food on disposable plates with plastic knives and forks. Appetizers were on foam plates, not sturdy, but understandable. Baba ghanoush was in a ceramic bowl with old metal spoon. very bland. No salt, not as lemony as before. Two orders were Yadi's favorite. The chicken came out pink...on both orders. Sent back. The others at the table finished their meals even before ours came back out. The owner was there- no apologies for the food or the delays. There was only one waitress. There were only a total of three other tables, a total of 10 people dining, including our party of 4. I will have to think twice before returning. read more
