beautiful location, cool idea, better drinks. We loved our visit here. It was so easy and convenient to get to since.... ya know.... you're parked in the same garage. It was nice and cool on a hot summer evening. Their old fashion was *chefs kiss*. The drinks are a bit pricey but... what do you expect for trendy hipster vibes in downtown austin?? So cool and so good. Def going back. read more

I thought it was my first time coming here but according to my Google location history, I came to Garage years before I moved to Austin when I was in town for SXSW... 2016, maybe? Anyway, no recollection, so I finally crossed this one off my happy hour list. Vibe was great, Old Fashioned was great, and for $9 I'd say it's a pretty good happy hour option. Regular prices? Yeah, high as expected but it's a cool old garage, so you can't go wrong to have a drink here. read more

Chill, upscale cocktail bar in an interesting location which is honestly a great use of space which obviously was not being utilized. Very easy to get to, literally just park in the parking garage and walk up the ramp. We did not have reservations but luckily only had to wait about 15 minutes to get in. It was interesting that for those who don't have reservations, they have a side area with a few small tables that you can sit at if they are open. If they aren't, you'll just be standing sipping your drinks. The menu is relatively simple with a few drinks going into kind of a combination of experimental and old school with some interesting flavor pairings. The bartenders seems quiet and unapproachable at first but upon talking to them, they were very quick to answer any questions and were quite warm. The drinks were pretty good, though as one other reviewer stated, one of my drinks, the Sherry Cobbler, was mostly ice, and about three sips. Overall though, very cool and chill vibe on the inside and somewhere I could see myself taking friends or a date to show them that I know at least a few hip spots in downtown Austin. read more

I feel like over the past 4 days we have been on a craft cocktail exploration. One is not complete without visiting Garage. This is definitely an interesting place to check out. I was skeptical that it was really in a parking garage, but it is REALLY in a parking garage. The aesthetic is interesting and I was fascinated to look around and see the ways they closed it off from the rest of the garage. I liked the decor, and it definitely has a hip vibe, with candles and incense. The drinks are complex but quite expensive (many were $20...sorry, what?) and I thought the server could have done a better job guiding us through the menu. But we did enjoy what we got, except for one person, and the server brought her a new drink since she didn't like the first, which I thought was nice (but also appropriate given the cost). Cons for me were the tiny tables. It is more of lounge seating, so the table was at my knee-level, which sucked for being in a dress. There were 4 of us, bent over the table, and it is also hard to hear, and you are close to other parties, so it was very hard to get comfortable in the tiny seats while having a conversation. It is somehow both intimate and cozy while also having no privacy or space to relax. I also could smell the faint scent of...well...being in a parking garage. Gas? Emissions? Rubber? Not quite sure. Cool spot but not my favorite, and I won't go back. read more

I'm not quite sure how it took me 10 years before popping in here but I'm so glad we did! Staff was great- drinks were excellent- vibe was on point and it's not too quiet and sleepy. Definitely go! They do take reservations although Friday at 10pm we were able to pop in without one. read more

We made a reservation for 5pm at Garage, and were the first ones to arrive. We were quickly seated and welcomed warmly by the entire staff! Our server was an absolute angel, and was extremely attentive, offering to answer any questions or give suggestions. We opted for a total of 4 drinks off the menu and my mom ordered a glass of wine. The drinks were actually good sizes, and not overloaded with ice or watered down. They were all very unique and very, very good!! We could have stayed longer and enjoyed the ambiance but we'll definitely be back! Garage is a great spot for date night, happy hour with friends, or even just a solo drink at the bar! I hi go my recommend this not so secret spot to anyone, local or visitor! read more

Speakeasy... It's always fun to explore some "hidden gems" and this place is a good definition of that. My partner and I enjoyed some well-crafted libations and the atmosphere was pretty inviting. The whole reservations thing was a bit much in opinion. Maybe I just haven't been to enough speakeasies, idk. Having a slightly extended wait to enter was a bit off putting but being able have drinks or order and sit at the outside foyer was a decent compromise before a space at the bar opened justas we were about to put our drink orders in. The space is roomier than I imagined it would be and the space was very comfortable and pleasantly lit. Each cocktail was made with a little umph in it so no complaints there. I'd come back to this place and bring some out of towners for a quick stop in earlier in an evening out. I probably won't make a reservation, though, because I like living on the edge read more

I would highly recommend for date nights/first date/chill hangout. I love that it's kinda of cutaway and hard to find adding that speakeasy feel. It's dimly lit with plenty of spots to sit comfortably. The bartenders are great and give amazing service to back the pricy specialty cocktails. read more

logistics: This speakeasy is pretty easy to find. It's inside the garage and has a huge neon sign pointing to the entrance. We had reservations for Thursday at 6pm and it was busy when we arrived. The hostess mentioned happy hour ends at 7pm and that's when it cleared out for a bit. A good mix of groups and couples which made a great ambiance. We parked in the parking garage across the street for $10. I'm not sure if they validate parking in their garage, but that would be a nice touch. drinks: They have a good-sized menu so our bartender recommended the Indian Paintbrush and Penicillin as they are always on their menu. My personal favorite was Bad Apple and Pepitas, Spice, & Everything Nice. Overall, I loved the drinks and the vibe. Our bartenders were helpful and fast. They have a rotating menu so I will be back! read more

Despite the thoughtful cropping of the photos this bar actually feels more like a YMCA crossed with a parking garage, from whence the name is derived. The cocktails were poorly crafted and overly sweet. There was not much selection on the menu. It's very loud and echo-y. Left after one drink. Skip it and check out Here Nor There, where you need a reservation btw. read more

TLDR: recently has bad queue management and over filling issues, not worth the wait for potential seating issues. Recently they started letting more people in than they can seat, so you kinda just stand when u get in, which is annoying. This time tho we had already waited for 45 minutes and they then told us they mis quoted us a time and said another hour wait. They started serving people outside the front and we asked to just wait for a table instead. They gave our spot to another group of 4 that we were originally ahead of cuz they got served at the waiting area option. Super confusing and just really disappointing. Used to bring all my people visiting Austin here, cuz great drinks, now it's just been a miss lately, frustrating to waste time on a night out, won't bother anymore, really disappointed :( read more

Garage is in such a unique spot, literally inside a parking garage. We had a reservation on a Friday night and we're about 10 minutes early and were seated immediately. The first round of cocktails we got (My Favorite Favorite and Yerba Buena) were very good, the best one was actually the one called my favorite. The second round of drinks we ordered weren't as impressive. The presentation of the cocktails weren't as extravagant as other cocktail bars around town. Overall, it was nice and interesting to experience. read more

The concept is super fun. Two of us were able to walk in at 6 on a Saturday afternoon. The inside is super dark which was nice in a super hot day. Drink menu looked fun. I forget the cocktail I had but it was something smoky with whiskey. Very intimate location. Good for 1 or 2 drinks. read more

This place is too cool for me! If you are reading this, make a reservation! Came in a recommendation from a friend, wasn't expecting much. We were pretty lucky in that we were first in love for a wait, so we only waited about 10 minutes. I don't know if night blindness is very common at all. I know 1 person with it. I mention it because this place is DARK. The only lights around are votive. I didn't mind, but my partner was struggling. Also the acoustics are concrete. Keep in mind you are literally in a garage. I was shouting at the person right next to me to have conversation. That said, Mr "I don't drink cocktails" fond one he liked and they set it on fire! Well they set a sugar cube on fire in the Enhanced Catnip, it was very good, not too sweet. I did get 3 cocktails on our visit, starting with an old fashioned and ended with one that was too sweet for my taste. Overall very fun experience. read more

My friends and I passed by on a Tuesday after dinner and decided to go in for a night cap. This was all of our first times but the outside decor was so cool we decided we had to try. Everyone was attentive without being over bearing. read more

I used to frequent and really love Garage but my latest visit was quite suspicious. I ordered one drink ($17) and tipped 20% when I closed my tab ($21). When I checked my bank statement I was charged over $32... this was not what I signed for. My bank reimbursed me directly and sure it's only ~$10, but it felt disappointing to have that trust broken. I'm not sure I'll be back, there are other local spots that have a similar atmosphere who won't treat customers this way. read more

Such a cool place! We tried to go here once before and ended up somewhere else. This time we made it and it was above and beyond our thoughts and expectations! Such a great vibe and all of the staff were very professional and knowledgeable. The menu had some many great different cocktails that our group of six all got something different and everyone's drinks were outstanding. Such a cool gem downtown Austin! This place will do disappoint! Definitely good for pre dinner happy hour or after dinner cocktails. I did not see much in terms of appetizers. LOVE! Not sure how we've always overlooked this place in the past, but it will become a staple of our Austin visits from here on out. Tucked away inside of a downtown parking garage, this hidden bar has some of the best cocktails in Austin. Walking by this place, you'd almost never know it exists except for the neon sign that says "cocktails" in front. It isn't apparent where to exactly walk for cocktails at first unless you've either been here first or there's a wait and people are waiting outside the entrance. I've never been here during the day, but during the night, the ambiance is dark and mysterious. There is a small candlelit waiting area just inside the entrance and making your way to the bar, you'll eventually see that indeed, you are drinking in a garage. Between the lighting, concrete walls, and vinyl records playing (which I think may be connected to a vintage Marantz?), it's safe to say that there definitely isn't any bar like this anywhere else. What's even better? The cocktails are some of the best in Austin. It's been said before, there are five areas of the menu typically: custom, refurbished, vintage, GTO, and unleaded. Custom drinks are drinks that are entirely unique to Garage, and generally these are worth going for. Refurbished drinks are new/different takes on classic cocktails; if you're into more traditional cocktails, these are worthy of a try. Vintage cocktails are classic takes on classic cocktails; I've had these several times and they are good, but I generally go with other options since I can get an old fashioned just about anywhere. GTO are more spirit-forward drinks and are basically just spirit-forward "custom" drinks. Finally, unleaded is for those in your part who don't drink alcohol. There is also a very short/small snack menu, which usually only has things like chips and salsa on it (FYI, this place is mainly for drinks, so get your dinner elsewhere nearby). Overall, a great spot for dates or small groups. read more

This place oozes cool. Bartender made me an off-menu Black Manhattan that was OK. A bit over-stirred to my taste, but to be fair, the place was packed and he was making 5 drinks at once. A better choice was the Boulevardier of Broken Dreams; fantastic with ingredients that are a step up from the standard. Loud music and dark atmosphere make this a cool place for a date. On a Friday night, there was a line outside when we left, so get there early or be prepared to wait. Worth checking out. read more

This bar is located in... you guessed it, a garage. You will see a garage and on top you will see a sign that says "Cocktails". If you walk into the sign you will most likely see someone at the front checking IDs. I ordered the Indian paintbrush which seemed to be very popular among people on Yelp and it was also named the official drink of Austin in 2015. I had one... and I can TOTALLY see why. It was SO. GOOD. You can't taste any alcohol at all. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. It is so refreshing and honestly one of the best cocktails I've ever had in my life. You can taste the sweetness of the grapefruit, the citrus from the lime, the refreshing rosemary, and that's it. No vodka at all. It was perfectly balanced. After having it I am not surprised that it has the popularity and the accolades that it has. It was so good that I had to order it twice which is something that I rarely do. As a side note, I ordered the paper plane as well which was also solid. Sorry paper planes, the star of the show here is the Indian paintbrush. Another thing that I rarely do when I'm on a trip is go back to the same bar twice. Well I came here two days in a row because all I could think about was the Indian paintbrush. The second time I came here, I ordered it three times, so in total I had it five times in two days. It got to the point where I was trying to figure out the proportions of the drink so I could replicate it at home. I want to give a shoutout to my bartender Allie and all the other bartenders who served me. They were all really nice and cool. Another bartender (I forgot his name) but he eventually gave me the ingredients list for the Indian paintbrush. I don't think it's like a deep dark secret since he gave it so freely but it was still really nice of him to do that because I couldn't stop gushing about it. Now that I have it I'm going to try to make it, although I know I won't make it like the way this place does. read more

Located inside an actual garage (with a tell-tale sign of cocktails to guide the way), this speakeasy serves some inventive drinks. We ordered two drinks - one with alcohol and one without. The non-alcoholic was citrusy and tangy, with a crystallized ginger to top it off. The alcoholic drink was more disappointing, and had flavors of rose, orange, and bergamot, but overall was quite tasteless. Overall, a fun experience in a unique location, but would have wanted just a bit more from the drinks. read more

First time here, had reservations and glad we did because it does fill up fast. There is currently a 2 hour time limit depending upon their reservation load or availability and we actually got an additional hour as we were passing time til dinner. We tried several cocktails and one we liked so much we ordered it multiple times. We tried Lion's Tail, Porch light, Dr. Sageapple and Autumn Sweater, we ordered the Autumn Sweater a total of 3x it was so good! The ambiance lends itself to oldies soul and jazz music with dim lit corners and lean ins for convo. We really enjoyed the vibe! read more
