My bartender told me he'd been working on something, featuring punt e mes, and I was totally down for trying something new. I took one sip and knew it was a miss. I wanted to politely send it back. But he just kept avoiding me. I stared right at him and he was impervious. Finally, he saw me, and I told him what was wrong. I asked for a sip of punt e mes so I could understand the failed cocktail better, and asked him for a more traditional drink: a mai tai. The mai tai was sweet and unbalanced. Giving up, I asked for a check. He charged me for the drink I didn't finish, a shot of punt e mes (!) and the mai tai. Unreal. Never again!
Garage is a cool craft cocktail bar located in an actual parking garage. It's considered a speakeasy, however they do have signage outside of the bar which breaks the rules of a true speakeasy. It's not hard to spot as long as you're in the correct parking garage. My date and I stopped in for a quick drink. It was my first time visiting. We didn't have reservations, but it was early enough that we were able to grab a seat at the bar. They do take reservations on Open Table if you prefer. There's limited bar seating as well as tables and booths. The vibe was very intimate and sultry with dim lighting. The bartenders were nice. I went with a Pimm's Cup which is a favorite of mine. Garage's Pimm's Cup was actually very good, but it didn't quite compare with the Pimm's Cup at Anvil in Houston (IYKYK). We didn't order any food, but they have pizza (including gluten free options) as well as salads. The next time I visit, I'll be sure to try a slice.
One of my favorite date night spots in Austin. The ambiance is lovely, and the drinks are fantastic. They recently added pizza to the menu, and it was good!! We tried one of everything, and I think the kink and the hog pen were our group's favorites. They have reservations up to 6, but I'd recommend that only for drinks!
This bar is crazy Its in a parking garage which the outside look is just ok Open the door and its a speakeasy vibe very dark romantic Romantic in a parking garage who knew Service exceptional drinks were delicious Our bartender was fun and easy to talk to Overall fantastic place
100% worth the buzz around this place! The interior is beautiful, dimly lit and very intimate, great space for chatting. The hostess and bartenders were super friendly and helpful! Drink selection was a bit small but carefully curated. All the drinks we had were strong and each one was really unique. Pizza was also phenomenal!
Stopped in to have a drink after dinner in the area! Very small but cute spot, on a busy day reservations are highly recommended! Unique cocktails made fresh to order. Staff was kind and Sarah was really handling business behind the bar and serving tables too. very romantic lighting , great place to bring a date or friend who had never been before or just to handle out for a good time in general. they offer food as well but since we just ate we didn't not get a menu.
Overall: 4.5/5 [dine in] We were waiting to get into Tiger Lilly when they open at 5 PM but found out they've permanently converted to an event space, so our friends introduced us to Garage instead. Definitely did not expect to find a speakeasy in a garage, but it was a vibe. We were lucky and got seated right away. Very dark and moody lighting inside. They don't have happy hour and the drinks are on the pricier side. Portions are a bit smaller too, but they are craft cocktails. We got Lucas Fiasco ($19 each) and tried my friend's Indian Paintbrush which were both great. Service is slower, so expect to be there for a while unless you can flag someone down.
Came upon this place on a whim. We were walking home from dinner and were looking for somewhere to have a night cap. Luckily, this was not far away and they took us, as walk-ins. It's well hidden, in an actual parking garage, although the music is a bit of a giveaway. I loved the industrial, low key vibe and it seems like a lot of other people did too, for a Wednesday night. The drinks were beautifully presented and the flavors were subtle.
Speakeasy but not really. It was not that hidden or secrecy. The drinks are on the expensive side for this area. We came in a group of 6 and were charged 25% gratitude, then another 3% for insurance fees.
One of my favorite bars in Austin! Tucked inside an actual parking garage, this dark and moody spot feels like a true hidden gem, though it can get pretty packed on weekend nights. I've enjoyed every cocktail I've tried here. The drinks are creative, meticulously prepared, and consistently well balanced--never too sweet or overly harsh. The atmosphere, presentation, and quality of the cocktails make it a memorable place to bring visitors. I always recommend adding Garage to an Austin bucket list, and I'm excited to return every time.
Chef and owner Philip Speer was testing out his new offering of Sicilian pizza at the Garage bar, and my friend and I were lucky enough to be among his first testers. The pizza was so incredibly delicious, with a thick, fluffy crust. There were two options: a white pizza or tomato-based. He even made a special gluten-free crust for me to accommodate my diet. I had no idea it was gluten free until he told me. I will go back to the Garage when he formally launches the pizza as a regular offering. The atmosphere is very intimate, with candles on the tables.
We went on a Saturday night a few weeks ago, and thoroughly enjoyed our experience! We had to wait outside for about 5 minutes to be seated, and once we got in it was chill and not too crowded. The inside had a nice wood burning fire smell, probably to cover up the garage fumes. Our bartender was very sweet and didn't pressure us to order quickly. The drinks were tasty and made right in front of us. Such a fun vibe! It's almost on the order of a speakeasy, being tucked into the parking garage. Definitely a fun place where I'd take visitors in the future.
They do have pizza slices but did not try them. The service to start was outstanding due to Brian and checking on me. The ambiance is enjoyable and hipster.

This place is a vibe! A great spot for after dinner drinks and for date night. Nice touch with incense that's lit throughout for a more intimate feel. Reservations are not required here, but recommended. There are a lot of small tables since it's an intimate space, but recommend sitting at the bar to see the drinks being made and to chat with the bartenders about the menu. There are some small seats by the right side of the bar area--here you need to get up and order at the bar, there won't be a waiter to serve you. Menu is seasonal and they have a great variety of spirit-forward, fruity, and light. Cocktails are on the pricier end here, but bartenders took time with each drink they made us and gave us some background on ingredients etc. You can find Garage literally inside a parking garage, so keep your eyes peeled and when walking down Colorado! read more

I love this little hidden gem located in a parking garage downtown. It is dark and sexy and the staff are always very nice. We stopped in on our way to Top Roe and enjoyed an old fashioned and Indian paintbrush. This is a great spot for a date or a small group. read more
I absolutely love this place! It's quite literally in a parking garage and such a cool vibe. My friends and I were able to come on a Saturday night as a walk in without having to wait for too long. The drinks were very good and I appreciated the dim lit lighting. Next time I'm going to try a reservation since the seating is a bit better than the section for walk ins read more
Stopped in for the first time after over 7 years and I'm glad that we went at what seemed like a slower time - 5:30 PM. The vibe was both calming and electric, a perfect start to date night! Enjoyed a round of happy hour drinks - the Kentucky Buck and Old Fashioned. Both refreshing and enjoyable. With maybe 6-10 other people around us on a Thursday, service was just right. read more

This place is a cool hole in the wall bar in downtown Austin. The drinks are pricey but good. It is a very small bar with only about 5-2 top tables. Since it's in the middle of a parking garage, you can smell gasoline and hear the sounds of cars but that's kind of the point of this bar. You do have to pay for parking even though you're going to the bar read more

Fun speakeasy in a parking garage in Austin. We stopped by for drinks before our reservation around the corner at Comedor. Fun menu with bespoke cocktails that are made with fresh ingredients. I tried an espresso martini to begin with which wasn't my favorite, but enjoyed a good cocktail from their menu after. Service was good and it's a fun spot for a data night or pre dinner drink read more

I've been meaning to check out Garage since moving to Austin, and I'm glad I finally made time to do so! I went with my partner and his parents and we made a reservation in advance. We were seated immediately and the AC was blasting, thank goodness! Lights were a little dim, but other than it being hard to read the menu, it created a pretty nice vibe. The drinks were delicious, and service was nice and attentive! I'll definitely be back another time. This is a great, unique speakeasy in town and perfect for date nights and guests. read more

I had no idea this place was a speakeasy, a friend just told me to check it out on a visit to Austin. When I arrived, I was pretty sure I had messed up and navigated to an actual parking garage. Then I realized there was a sign saying "COCKTAILS" where it would usually say "PARKING"... once you look into the garage, you easily see the neon sign and bouncer at the front. We came late on a Friday night (after midnight) and there was no wait or need for reservations. The lighting was dark, the service mediocre, and the drinks not bad. But really it gets 4 stars for being a cool idea and an interesting experience! read more

The Garage is honestly such a cool concept for a speakeasy! Its located actually in a parking garage but its not hard to find! I would defff recommend making a reservation as the Garage is usually pretty packed. The vibes are super nice but it does get kinda loud and can be hard to hear! But service is great and the seating and bar area is so pretty!! They have a lot of options for drinks and the prices aren't too bad!! Def worth every penny c: Overall, Ill def be back and be sure to stop by if you're looking for somewhere nice with good drinks! read more
Fun speakeasy located in a parking lot. It was not too hard to find and I do wish it was a little more "hidden". It was also super dark in there but it fits the vibe of a speakeasy. We were able to make a reservation day of. They do charge you if you don't cancel within an hour though. The drinks were unique and yummy. We were also celebrating a birthday and they gave us a complimentary champagne to toast with :) read more

I ordered a $25 old fashion and all they gave me was an old cup of ice! Waka! Waka! . That's all my money flying away! read more
Such a unique speakeasy concept! Several small tables and a beautiful bar- love that you can hear the slight noise of the fully functioning parking garage above you. Drink was delicious, bartender was very accommodating. I tried the drink special of the day on happy hour, the happy hour menu has a little bit of something for everyone. Will definitely visit again when I'm in Austin! read more

I heard of Garage when I first moved to Austin and have passed it a few times while downtown. When waiting for another reservation, we decided to stop by Garage. It was super small and very dark inside. When walking up, there were people sitting out which I guess is a first-come, first-serve basis. It made for a very crowded door, in my opinion. When you get inside, the host stand is very small and overcrowded. The tables are close together and you're practically sitting on the group next to you. They do appear to have larger, booth like tables for bigger groups. The menu itself is very limited but the drink was good. I got the Hotel Nacional, which is white rum, apricot, pineapple, lime. I think they're better speakeasies in Austin where you can get a bigger bang for your buck. read more
We were so happy that our friend knew about this place when we were visiting from out of town. I was very confused why we were walking into a parking garage, but what a fun speakeasy. There was a wait, but it was worthwhile because once we got in the service was immaculate, the vibes were right, and the cocktails were divinely delicious. (I'm normally a drinker, but I wasn't in the mood for a drink, because I had to drive home later, and I got the Mocktail that had Thai chili, turmeric, and carrots in it, and it was my favorite cocktail ever almost.) We were in standing room only until a group got up, and then we were able to steal their seats to hang for a bit longer. Definitely try and find this place and check it out! read more
I'm a big fan of unique bars so definitely wanted to give Garage a try. We came right when it opened and it wasn't that much of a crowd which was good because we had a pretty decent sized group and wanted to be sure we could hear one another clearly. I love great intentional use of space and Garage does just that. The seating is great, so you can meet people if you'd like but also are fine to stay to yourself. The lighting is good and matches the theme, and it's very clean - including the bathrooms which I always appreciate. The drinks were spot on. From the cocktails they recommend to the bartender absolutely nailing a Black Berry Bramble. It's been so hard to find someone that can do it properly even at really high end bars and I was blown away by the drink. For that reason alone I shall return. But overall just a really neat place perfect for happy hour or small gatherings. A true Austin Gem. read more
