Each time I've taken my vehicle to Garage 47, I got the impression that Steven (owner) genuinely cared about my issue, made sure it was carefully diagnosed, and explained everything with ultra clarity (I like details). He and his team goes above and beyond in an effort to take care of the customer. And not that this matters significantly, but I do appreciate the fact that the waiting area is female friendly (i.e. clean and esthetically pleasing), so I'm not hesitant to sit down the way I've been in some other shops. This place is the only place I take my car. It is trustworthy. I never have to question the judgment used and know my car will be reliable. I have been blessed to find it and have never been disappointed. We take our family cars there and my kid has learned to go there with her car. I feel good that she can drive a car that is not likely to be going to be failing on her. It means peace of mind and they are fair. Very good hands. Honest. I want to add that this shop will never start work on your vehicle without your consent about how much. They take pics and share via email or text what they found specific to your complaint. After you tell them what part you are ok with or confer with them about what they think is critical to fix and what not to fix do they start working. I add this because it appears that someone has complained about a charge they could not pay and I have been to this shop over the last 6 yrs with 3 and soon 4 diiferent cars and I have always experienced the same procedure. Take it in, tell them complaint/ goal, they hive feedback / explain findings- show w/ pics, you decide or confer( with a new used car the list might be long so we break it up in pieces and stretch out the work based on critical to least, but on junkers they will even say just fix what is absolutely nec and do not put more in) then the fix you pay done. I was used car shopping and called them two different times to get a pre-purchase inspection. The first time, Colton willingly helped me by phone to determine that there I was dealing with a less than honest situation with the dealer. When I called several days later to book an inspection for another car, they fit me in although I ended up going to the Bay Area to buy. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!!!!Took my diesel here to just get a new fuel filter and reprime my fuel system. As soon as I got 15-20miles away my truck stalled out and died on me. Took it back to them and they had no idea what was wrong or even how to diagnose the problem. After going to a far more professional shop in the area (NorCal Diesel Performance) I was told that Garage 47 not only DID NOT reprime my fuel system correctly but they got fuel all over my engine bay creating a large mess. NorCal Diesel reprimed it correctly and sent me on my way FREE of charge, cleaned my engine bay spotless and gave me yet another warranty of good faith that they uphold there work. Garage 47 refused to pay me back or even give me store credit and denied that they did such horrible work. Most the staff is under qualified and/or take on jobs they shouldn't be taking on. Way overpriced, 200+ for a gas cap and air filter plus labor, charged extra for a battery hold down bar that they didn't secure last time. Over 850 $ quote on so park plugs and replace a couple gasket covers, said there wasn't a wait over phone then told me after arriving that I might have to leave car overnight for a tuneup!! Feel like most of their reviews are fake as I've talked to two other customers that had bad experiences. If you want to spend extra and wait longer for repair, hit these guys up!!! If I don't do my own oil change, I usually take it to Jiffy or Walmart which is a gamble but for such an easy service, the risk is low. However I'll be taking my cars to Garage 47 from now on. I dropped off the 2018 Honda CRV for routine service--So amazed at the care taken with cleanliness and non contamination of everything. Steve and team--you are amazing. Gloves, sanitizer, yes, even the keys were cleaned. They serviced the CRV quickly, called about something the car needed (interior caabin air filter) and Steve called mid afternoon to say car was ready. the only reason i came to this place is because it had great review on yelp. however they charge $80 just to inspect my car, so i left right away. i don't know if that's normal but i took my car down south (my home town) and took it to a place where my dad is a regular and they checked my car for FREE and fixed the little thing for FREE as well. why pay $80 just for inspection. sounds like a ripe off to me. but i do gotta say that the people there were super friendly and awesome. that's why i give them 2 stars. if it wasn't for customer service, i would give them zero stars. read more

It's a little bit dated review, but anyway. A year ago I had my check engine light on, but only for periods of time. Sometimes it's on, sometimes off. I went to Garage 47 for diagnostics. They suggested that the problem was in VVT solenoid but were not sure and asked if I want to change it for $500+ (+tax and +$78 for diagnostics already paid). With my car cost about 5 times that much I declined and continued driving with check engine light. A week ago I talked with friend and he told me that VVT solenoids usually not a big problem to change. So yesterday I went to the closest place where I was that time (San Jose area) and asked how much is it. They answered - $180-$200. I was very surprised. I was sure that in Bay Area prices would be higher. I left the key and in less than 2 hours I got the call that my car is ready. I paid $204 including tax. I tested the car and it looks like the problem was solved so Garage 47 was probably right about solenoid. read more
