If you need an honest, knowledgeable, and fairly priced auto repair shop near Gold River or Rancho Cordova, I'd definitely recommend them. They've worked on my 2017 Ford Transit Connect, 2014 Mercedes GL63, and 2014 BMW X5. They replaced a driver-side CV axle, did oil changes, replaced brake pads and rotors, diagnosed and fixed an A/C and heater blower issue, repaired a trunk/liftgate problem, and also replaced a valve cover and gasket and battery. What stood out to me most was how knowledgeable, honest, and fair Samson and his team were throughout the process. The staff are friendly, the front desk is welcoming, and the customer service has been great. It's hard to find a shop that does quality work at reasonable prices, but 916 Auto Repair has done that for me. Definitely recommended.

My AC Drier was cracked and inoperable since last year. In this region of the Sacramento Valley and Placer County, 916 Auto quote beat 5 shops I contacted in the region and 1 shop even told me it's not worth it and I should get a new car. Bet if my car was a 69 Camaro, they'd do it. Why? Cause its a Classic Camaro. No matter the condition. Some shops don't want to work on Imports. But oh well. Their loss, not mine. I contacted 916 Auto and spoke to Samson to schedule an appointment and he said to come by that very same day. And so I drove from Roseville to Gold River that morning. Samson is honest & to the point. When he pulled my car in, he noticed a coolant leak. Now I didn't notice any leaks in my driveway, as it would seem the Coolant is evaporating or dissipating, but he notice it was getting on my Alternator, by the stains. It turns out, my OEM water pump (factory part since 2003 for this model year in 2004) finally gave out at 262K miles. Who'd ever think a Mazda/Ford part would last this long. This was an unexpected thought as I only had budgeted for the quote. So I called my CFO (Wife) and let her know of the issue. She said get it fixed and she'll adjust other expenses as she knows I need AC for the upcoming summer temps. So I authorized Samson to proceed with the entire job. Now I can't couldn't do any price comparison, but he did give me a discount which still fit in my overall budget. I spent my whole day in their lobby. They have updated their lobby to make it feel more comfortable and less Auto Shop feel. I notice the many people who drop by to have their car service are all happy and are returning customers. From a Dealership oil drain plug that was torqued too tight, to oil changes, brakes, and even a customer who was a bit upset where the Dealership sent the wrong part twice. The Dealership. I spoke to many of them and they all had the same answer when I ask. "What made you come here?" They replied, "Their price can't be beat!". In summary, my AC is now working as it should. Now I only used my AC for 2 whole days It gets cold and it has been awhile since I have felt cold in my aging car of 22 years. With my new water pump installed as well, my car is running smoother overall. Smoother shifts, heater gets warm fast. Almost, now almost like it was in 2004. So, Did I find a new shop for my Project Commuter Car? Yes I sure did. They have gotten a new customer. Up next is my Transmission Gasket & plug. One thing at a time! They did a borescope of the cylinders and found abrasions on the cylinder walls and traced the noise towards the bottom of the engine. Unfortunately, to further troubleshoot they would have had to open the engine, a bit time consuming and a costly repair if the piston components were damaged. The news was unfortunate but I just wanted an honest assessment rather than just shotgunning parts like the last shop that tried to troubleshoot the issue.

It's smog check up the road, and so I needed to drive it about 50 miles or so to "reset the car's computer, " before it would pass . I decided to stop here for an oil change before I did that, as the car was way overdue. I was helped by Mike. He's helped me before, he's always thorough, friendly, and helpful. He got me checked in, he told me the different options for an oil change, and I told him which one I wanted. They did the oil change, and I was out in about 15 to 20 minutes. The price was extremely reasonable. Everything was great. Before I left, on the side, I happened to mention that I had needed the oil change because of the smog check. He said, oh, before you take the car back to the smog shop, stop in here, we will do a pretest to make sure you drove enough to reset the computer. I said, no charge? Nope That was nice of him. I drove 45 miles "up the hill" to Pollock Pines, to look at all of the pretty new snow. I came back, it took less than five minutes to do the pretest, and he told me, "green lights all the way." I took the car back to the smog shop and passed with flying colors. As I mentioned, I've always gotten great service here at Danny's. Thank you, Mike, for taking that extra step for me. I truly appreciate it. I will be back.

Today, I requested a diagnostic of a specific issue. I was already aware of what it "could" be and Danny took the time to show me what the issue was...a wheel bearing. it can be nice when the customer and the business end up on the same page. Sometimes that doesn't happen. Customers really should understand how the process works and how a business is run before getting "triggered". Always competitive pricing and this shop can do it all. They responded very quickly, priced fairly, and even provided time slots they had open, so I headed to the shop that same Saturday. When I arrived, they quickly directed me to pull in to start the service. It seems like I had just sat down when they called me back out to show me the the underside of the van. They wanted to know where I'd done the prior oil changes since whoever did them had stripped the tread on the pan from tightening the bolt too tight. I could clearly see that what they were saying was true and the pan had no tread and had been leaking oil this whole time. There really would be no way to do the oil change without also changing the pan. I asked how much that replacement would cost, and told them to go ahead complete the repair along with the oil change. This is my mom's mini van that I was going to drive back down to LA, so definitely wanted to ensure I was safe. I was told it would take 2-3 hours, but was quickly out in about 1.5. They even provided a discount when I paid since the repair was unexpected and fast, which I really appreciate. They pointed out some other concerns, but did not force any repairs on me, which I am grateful for. Will definitely be coming back for any future oil changes and repairs.

My partner and I (well, mainly he) did some research into local shops in and around the Carmichael area. Master Tech had great reviews, so we went with it. And let me tell you, I'm SO GLAD that we did! Aside from the numerous details that go into the overall outstanding customer service this place had to offer, one thing that I took away from today's experience is that humanity can be very kind and that family values inserted into a family business absolutely work. The entire shop (which consists of the husband, wife, kid and dog!) worked together to research needed information regarding a part we may have needed to fix our problem. And it wasn't like an Italian mob family during Christmas, freaking out and bumping into one another-- it was smooth and they did what they needed to do to get it done and get us out of there. As other reviews said, the place was clean, the Keurig was awesome, we were in and out. Most smog and repair places present the customer with missing teeth, terrible front-end hygiene and obnoxious vehicle stays and mind-boggling rape of your wallet. None of that was present here. Nothing but a sweet family who care about their business and the customer's satisfaction. We said we'd let people know outside of the Carmichael area, and trust me, phone calls have already been made! And for bonus points, mad props to you guys for treating my partner and I like human beings. Being gay and partnered can present problems very easily in businesses involving auto motives, thank you for making us feel welcome and for being patient with total car-retarded, redundant questions! Came here right before lunch on a Tuesday! This place is on Fair Oaks Blvd and easy to find. There was no one there so Brian got me in right away. The first thing I asked him was about the smog check special since it was the reason why I came in. He was very helpful and honored the deal! He said "yeah no problem" I was in! My experience was very pleasant and good. I enjoyed a cup of fresh coffee and my children drank hot apple cider while waiting. Later in the week I brought in my other car a 2008 ford escape in for a water pump repair. The car had been sitting for a while and I was dreading repairs. Brian got me in right away again, repaired our SUV, and when he gave us our bill it was beneath the estimate! I have never had this happen before and asked about it thinking it was a wrong number. I was told it had taken him less time then originally estimated and he was passing the savings on to me! Quality of service A+... Helpfulness A+++. Experience A+... Honesty A+... After going to a smog only station, only to have it fail, I brought my higher mileage out-of-state vehicle to Master Tech. They were very quick to get it in to look at it even though they were swamped with business. Shannon at the counter was very polite and both her and the tech Brian were so helpful and knowledgeable that I was immediately at ease that I had brought it to the right place. Shannon gave me a rough quote to look at it and Brian was straight up about what it may or may not be. I asked them to call me after the first hour. Brian called me back and he pretty much had troubleshooted the problem. He has a database of vehicles that helps him diagnose your issue. Very very helpful! He explained in great detail what it was and that he would try the first thing he thought was wrong. Well, by the next day he had installed the part and by that afternoon he had called me to tell that my car had been fixed!! It passed smog check and was ready to go! Took my 1995 F150 in as my A/C was not working - no power to the compressor. Also asked Brian to replace the multifunction switch as I could operate my windshield wipers on high only. Truck was done by 4:30 and the bill was three hundred bucks - quite a surprise. Brian replaced a cycling switch on the A/C and charged the system. He said I had a barely detectable freon leak and recommended a recharge on a as needed basis vs spending hundreds more at this time. He also said he looked at the connections on my multifunction switch as the connections tended to loosen over time but in my case the switch was bad. The bill could have been less. Wow! I think this place is a keeper and will get more of my business. Oh, one other thing. Both Brian and Shannon are polite, friendly, and professional. read more

Overall, the office manager and techs were AWESOME--professional and very friendly--and their services was the best priced in all of Sacramento area (trust me, I checked over 20+ center). I have a diesel all-wheel drive, and when I called around, every shop (EXCEPT Master Tech) wanted to charge me $20-$40 more than they would for a gas engine. I also needed an appointment to ensure I kept to my busy schedule. I was able to the best appointment time for my schedule. I was in and out in under 15 minutes, although I even arrived early. Michael R I am the original owner of a 1985 Nissan 720 truck. This truck had not had a smog test in many many years. I took the truck to Brian and Master Tech and they were simply put the greatest!!! My husband and I moved across the country a few years ago and no longer have access to my dads garage and fancy tools (dang), and we found Brian and his family at master tech the first time we couldn't do a repair on our own. 1. They made an appointment for me, when other shops were first come, first served. 2. Receptionist was pleasant and polite. 3. They got me checked in quickly and took my car right in even though there were already three people in the waiting room (but none of them was waiting long--very efficient). 4. My car was done in 10 minutes and I got the proper paperwork. 5. When I got home, the update was already processed on the DMV website. 6. The price was reasonable. A+. read more

This place was so amazing! I had called around the area and after speaking with Laura I knew this place was going to be perfect. The price was best around! I was there maybe a total of 30 minutes. Went in for a smog check after purchasing a Groupon. I made an appointment for 4PM ended up being a little early and with the room being full i was in and out of their before 4. This has been by far the quickest place iv ever been. Excellent customer service. I would recommend them to anyone. I will be going back for smog or repairs. read more

We have used Master Tech several times over the past few years now, and they are always very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. My Volkswagen failed it's smog test and I had to get a repair done. They had to remove the gas tank to fix an EVAP leak. I took it back to the test only place and this time it passed. Heck yeah! read more

I had a Groupon, and I showed up on a Friday about an hour before closing. As I mentioned, it is a small shop, so they can only do one car at a time. There were like three or four people waiting, so I said I would just come back first thing in the morning. I came back at opening time, and got right in. I was helped by Godfrey. Very professional, very personable, very friendly. We chatted a bit as he was doing the paperwork. My car goes in for the smog check, and unfortunately, it didn't pass. I had just changed the battery yesterday, and that had basically "rebooted" the Car's computer. He said I needed to drive the car about 50 miles or so, to bring the computer back to where it needed to be, so that it would pass the test. I drove 45 miles "up the hill" to Pollock Pines to look at all of the pretty brand, new snow, and then brought the car back. This time, it passed with flying colors. We finished the paperwork and I was out the door. This was a very good shop, everybody was professional, and friendly, I would come here for a smog check again. Thank you.

It's smog check up the road, and so I needed to drive it about 50 miles or so to "reset the car's computer, " before it would pass . I decided to stop here for an oil change before I did that, as the car was way overdue. I was helped by Mike. He's helped me before, he's always thorough, friendly, and helpful. He got me checked in, he told me the different options for an oil change, and I told him which one I wanted. They did the oil change, and I was out in about 15 to 20 minutes. The price was extremely reasonable. Everything was great. Before I left, on the side, I happened to mention that I had needed the oil change because of the smog check. He said, oh, before you take the car back to the smog shop, stop in here, we will do a pretest to make sure you drove enough to reset the computer. I said, no charge? Nope That was nice of him. I drove 45 miles "up the hill" to Pollock Pines, to look at all of the pretty new snow. I came back, it took less than five minutes to do the pretest, and he told me, "green lights all the way." I took the car back to the smog shop and passed with flying colors. As I mentioned, I've always gotten great service here at Danny's. Thank you, Mike, for taking that extra step for me. I was already aware of what it "could" be and Danny took the time to show me what the issue was...a wheel bearing. it can be nice when the customer and the business end up on the same page. Sometimes that doesn't happen. Customers really should understand how the process works and how a business is run before getting "triggered". Always competitive pricing and this shop can do it all. Excellent customer service and they have an excellent shuttle service as well!

And when I say working the front, I mean working EVERYTHING. This man was basically the quarterback, offensive coordinator, and entire coaching staff all in one. He was cashing people out, pulling the next customer up, keeping track of the line, answering questions, giving updates, and somehow still moving with the precision of a surgeon on a double espresso. Boom. Next car. Boom. Payment. Boom. Helpful tip. Boom. Back to work. No wasted movement. No chaos. No attitude. Just pure efficiency and great customer service. While my truck was getting smogged, he was also dropping little gems and giving me helpful tips along the way, which I genuinely appreciated. That's the kind of stuff that sticks with people. He wasn't just trying to rush me through--he actually cared enough to be helpful. And here's the part that really stood out to me... People were still showing up after closing. I drove about 70 miles with no issues, but roughly 10 miles into my return trip the car began smoking, the oil light came on, and the engine shut down. The shop later claimed a blown head gasket due to low coolant and said it wasn't related to their repair. However, coolant doesn't vanish on its own, and the timing strongly suggests a leak or improper installation connected to the hose work. No documentation was provided showing any pressure test, leak‑down test, combustion gas test, or verification that the cooling system was properly bled. There was also no evidence of any pre‑existing head gasket issue. I am requesting a clear explanation of their diagnostics, proof of any tests performed, and a statement on whether they accept responsibility for the engine damage.
