An absolutely great experience. This is a very small shop, they are right next-door to the Chevron/Baskin-Robbins on Folsom Boulevard, just west of Mather Field Road. I had a Groupon, and I showed up on a Friday about an hour before closing. As I mentioned, it is a small shop, so they can only do one car at a time. There were like three or four people waiting, so I said I would just come back first thing in the morning. I came back at opening time, and got right in. I was helped by Godfrey. Very professional, very personable, very friendly. We chatted a bit as he was doing the paperwork. My car goes in for the smog check, and unfortunately, it didn't pass. I had just changed the battery yesterday, and that had basically "rebooted" the Car's computer. He said I needed to drive the car about 50 miles or so, to bring the computer back to where it needed to be, so that it would pass the test. I drove 45 miles "up the hill" to Pollock Pines to look at all of the pretty brand, new snow, and then brought the car back. This time, it passed with flying colors. We finished the paperwork and I was out the door. This was a very good shop, everybody was professional, and friendly, I would come here for a smog check again. Thank you. read more

Like having to go through a specific drive cycle the BMW requires so the sensors can get the data they need. Ended up being a stuck thermostat. After had it replaced it passed smog no problem. Phenomenal customer service, the gentlemen at the register was so polite, helpful & I enjoyed my conversation with him. The mechanic who I spoke with (shortly) was also very polite, something under the hood was disconnected & he asked my permission to re-attach it. My check-in at the counter was quick and efficient, and my smog test took about 35 minutes because a couple of other customers were already in the lobby ahead of me. Upon checking out, I had the pleasure of meeting Godfrey, the owner, who was exceptionally helpful and personable. He made the transaction easier by accepting my multiple payment methods. I genuinely enjoyed a conversation with him, when I mentioned I was looking for work, Godfrey shared valuable career advice and took a real interest in my background, even offering helpful pointers since we had similar college degrees (he holds a master's). This location is under new management as of June 2025 and the new owner is very personable, professional and understands good customer service! Their pricing is fair and lobby is clean. This guy is extremely rude. I've dealt with him twice, and both times, he was rushing me and in a hurry. The way he speaks with people is extremely rude, and there's several smog places right up the street that aren't unprofessional like this horrible business owner. I would drive for an hour to not have to deal with this guy. He also charges significantly more than other places in the area. The facility is extremely dirty on the inside. You feel like it's infested with roaches and like he lives out of the back of the shop. He seems really miserable and like he wants you to be just as miserable. I have simple mods on my car, nothing too crazy/illegal. The illiterate guy working at the time came up to my car with bad intentions before even trying to read it on his computer (as a smog tech should). With no other customers there, he reviews my car for about 25 mins, going all around/under it and trying to find reasons to fail me (no check engine lights, and I'm on stock exhaust lol). He sees a small weld in my exhaust and assumes it's heavily modded and tells me he won't smog my car. If he wasn't a simpleton he would know the weld is from replacing my flex pipe on my STOCK EXHAUST. Worst customer service ever, extremely rude, unprofessional, and just a sh*t attitude. 0 stars if I could, wasted a good 30 minutes of my life here but I got my smog done down the street in 10 minutes and passed with flying colors. I went to this station last week at noon, sign on the door said he'd be back at 12:30. I came back at 12:20 and waited until 12:45. When he didn't show I left. Stopped by today, just after 4 (closed at 4:30). Open sign was off but his bay door was open. I pulled up and he told me to come back tomorrow. I told him about showing up and waiting for him before and he gave me some BS excuse as to why he wasn't there at 12:30 like his sign said. All he could was Sorry. I told him I'd go somewhere else. I've used his services many times for both of my cars over the years. I guess providing good customer service, treating his repeat customers right... and making money is not part of his business model. I guess I should have mentioned that I'm a BAR employee.... 1st, that photo of two bays is NOT the smog zone. It's a generic. Seriously, I usually don't like leaving crappy reviews, but this shop sucks. First of all he forces you to sit, he does not like you standing because it distracts him. This building basically has a hole cut out for smog. He sits you in front of the car. He has no fans blowing so your breathing all the exhaust fumes from every car in front of you and your own. It's just ALL wrong. His smog for OBD I is $60 if you get a coupon from SMOG USA down the street. So $70 if you walk through the side door or bay door, not sure which is right. Again, SO SO SAD...:( read more

I took it to his guy and he failed me because he couldn't read the number on my catalytic converter....It passed emissions, I contacted the muffler shop to very the correct one was put on and we put it on a lift to check the number. When I tried to talk to him about it over the phone he became very obstinate ending with him hanging up on me. I ended up going to another shop to pay full price and it passed with flying colors (significantly better results than the ones he gave me) I would avoid this hole-in-the-wall scam place like the plague. read more

I went to this guys shop to get my smog repair. First time I arrived he had a sign up saying he's at lunch. Second time I come back he charges me $56 for the smog check. Then fails me because a hose wasnt connected to barb completely. So I went to Smog Point on power in road. A friendly mechanic came out put a rubber boot on my hose and clamp. Told me to come back to him if this guy at smog zone gives me any problems. after that I went back to smog zone. The guy working there sat and starred at the rubber boot and clamp job done by another mechanic for a few minutes and almost didn't pass me. He said that other smog shops will give me issues about that in the future. Charges my card the remaining balance and adds a dollar up charge to the transaction because it was a card not cash. Which he didn't do the first time I came in. This guy is a jerk. Very demanding. Crappy attitude and his shop looks ran down. The flooring is a mix between old partly stripped out tile and concrete. He also over charges by 20 dollars. Save yourself the frustration and go to another shop. This place is a joke. read more
