**In advance, my apologies for such a lengthy review, but I'm hopeful my exp. will be of some benefit in helping others who may be looking for a quality, efficient pharmacy here in Lancaster**
I had actually been a Ganse customer for about 5 consecutive years, and then briefly moved out of state. When I moved back to PA a yr. or so later, I decided to try a different pharm. (for mere location convenience) and still ended up right back at Ganse's. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to criticize, or sway business from other family owned, or commercial pharmacies in our area. The other pharmacy I used did in fact fill my Rx to the best of their ability, and most of their staff did offer courteous polite service, however, when issues arose with my insurance, it was evident that it was still about money...and not about me.
It was a bit discouraging, and even embarrassing at times, to feel like a pain in the a#$ , as I could often sense the annoyance on behalf of some (NOT ALL) of their staff when I had to call/check on the status of my insurance coverage, or delivery of my medication. Regardless of what the case may be, a good reputable company should never leave its customers feeling like an inconvenience, or sound annoyed because I have to call continuously to check on my insurance/ refill status. Period. I want, just as everyone else does, a pharmacy that will go the extra mile to ensure that my Rx is filled as needed, and do at least try and do everything they can to help with the cost of it in the process, should something happen with the insurance end of things.
The script I take is a health sustaining med. meaning that I can't go without it. And sometimes I felt like a few chosen staff members of theirs could've cared less whether or not I got my Rx filled, or if I had to fork out hundreds of dollars each and every week to get it. The determining factor in finally deciding to drive those extra few minutes back to Ganse's was when I had learned that the pharmacy could in fact give me what is called an "emergency supplly" of my medication, free of charge, until the issue with the insurance was resolved. The other pharm. not only didn't offer this courtesy to me, but even watched me pay SEVERAL weeks in a row (out of pocket, of course) the hundreds of dollars, without even offering an alternative, or telling me that I could get an emerg. supply!!! My guess is that they either A) weren't experienced enough to have even known an emerg. refill was possible, or B) didn't want to encourage this option because, well, hey they'd much rather have my money in their pocket versus dealing with waiting on the insur. to cover it in a few weeks.
When I went back to Ganse, my issue with the insur. was still ongoing. The difference in pharmacies was made clear as soon as I submitted my first refill. Not only did they simply go ahead and offer me the emergency refill, I didn't even have to ask!!! I wasn't left feeling that I was inconveniencing them. AT ALL. And to top it all off, the smiling, helpful lady tending to me that morning went so far as to offer me a cup of coffee while I waited the whole whopping 10 minutes for them to fulfill my prescription!! Companies like this are almost unheard of these days. Ganse Apothecary is definitely the kind of place that will fulfill your medication/Rx needs, and leave you feeling like a valued customer. Regardless of what issues may arise with your script. read more
