The best indian food in Sarasota. Great service, nice atmosphere, and delicious food. A must try

100/10 incredible start to finish it was an amazing experience. The staff was so kind and everyone was happy to be there and proud of the food they provided which was very nice to see. Every dish we ordered came out better than our high hopes already were. The secret best dish may have actually been the Tofu Dynamite! The wonderful flavor and delicious crunch paired with the elegant presentation made this dish a true standout. But like I said no dish disappointed, both the appetizers were mouthwatering and very filling for only the two of us. (Great spot to go with friends or family) We did manage to save some appetite for our two main dishes and wow were those flavor packed. I got the lamb shank cooked to perfection and my wife loved her Murg Lababdar! We had to top off the incredible night with the chocolate mouse and Banana Ice cream. Although I may have gained 10 pounds at this dinner it was well worth it. We will be back and I highly highly recommend this to anyone and everyone!! read more

Ganges is incredible! We went on a Saturday night and as we walked in, every single staff member greeted us with a smile, as we made our way to our table. The ambience is romantic and upscale with light music on in the background to compliment the atmosphere. The cocktails and mocktails are delish and the food is phenomenal! A group of us headed here for dinner- I was intrigued by the name- remembered as a kid seeing people bathing in the Ganges(seemed very polluted). The restaurant is tucked away in the Meadows and when you walk in you hit the bar area which was very busy with Karaoke. Fortunately we were seated in a different room and had a wall separating us from the singers. Our waitress was terrific steering us with shared plates and main dishes. Also, she divided up our bill equitably. The food is delicious and beautifully presented; best Indian food we have encountered in Sarasota. I wish I took more pictures. The seven of us split different naans, but my personal favorite entrees were the ghee roast brisket, feta Murgh malai tikka and a shrimp dish. Each accompanying sauce was unique and added to each dish. All the naans were awesome as well. The cost was quite reasonable given the variety and portion size. We had some leftovers for tomorrow. I highly recommend this establishment and we will definitely return in the Fall. read more

I almost don't want to write this review because I want to keep Ganges all to myself! This might be the BEST Indian food I have ever tasted! We started with the FIRDAUSI ALOO. It was so creamy with the Gouda cheese it is delicious and a must try. I had the BURRATA BUTTER CHICKEN, the twist on all the flavors made it hard not to finish the whole thing. My husband had the GHOST BIRYANI with side of yogurt dipping sauce with a cucumber pico. It was like an Indian pot pie. The lamb was very tender and puff pastry on top just made it so unique. They have a full bar and live music. The staff and service is fantastic. To say the least, this place will make it in our regular routine! I am already craving Indian again! read more

We had drinks, several apps and split an entree and had a fabulous time with the wait staff and gave the chef a standing ovation! We came here for our anniversary. It was hands down the best food I have had so far in 2026. The Gulabi Kachori was stunning upon arrival and the taste is hard to describe. It was a cold appetizer with chickpeas and potatoes covered in a beet yogurt. This was flavorful, light and presented so beautifully! The honey smoked salmon was tender and so delicious. I had the Burratta Butter Chicken and my husband had the Ghee roast. For dessert we had the Lotus Kapi-Misu. It was a presentation, beautiful and tasted heavenly. One of our dining companions lived in the far east and said that the food in this restaurant, especially the Peshwari Naan, were the most authentic Indian food that she had had overseas. I heard good things so I tried to make a reservation. It happened to be for 9 people. When I mentioned that on the phone the person who answered's tone changed instantly. All of a sudden she got rude and snapped and said "we can't book for 9, sounded aggravated so I never went there. This is by far the best Indian restaurant I have ever been to. The food and drinks were outstanding and our waitress, Anjali, was the sweetest. The inside is super clean and modern with special touches like candles and roses on the tables. We walked in through the bar, at 7:20pm. They had a live musician playing Lenard Conan covers. We walked into the dining room, the tables were well spaced apart. This was a plus for us as we enjoyed this meal with my 82 year old father in law. We had the oysters and the fire grilled cauliflower to start, then the lamb and morel korma as well as another lamb dish plus the saag. All three were delicious, perfect spice levels the garlic naan was fantastic as well. Service was gracious and on time throughout the meal. It was not too busy but the location was definitely off the beaten path. I would have to say worth the trip. Nice looking cocktails as well. My husband and I had dinner at Ganges recently and were honestly blown away. It's traditional Indian cuisine with a modern twist, and everything we had was incredibly flavorful and really well executed. The presentation stood out right away!! each dish felt thoughtful and intentional. The lamb shank was served covered and when they opened it, it released smoke which was such a cool touch. Dessert was also made tableside, which made it feel like a full experience from start to finish. What we ordered: Gulabi Kachori, Burrata Butter Chicken, Feta Murgh Malai Tikka, Butter Naan, Ghost Biryani, and the Lotus Kaapi-Misu for dessert. The burrata butter chicken and lamb shank were probably our favorites, but truly everything was great. The ambiance is warm and elevated, and the service really stood out...attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. This is easily one of the most unique dining experiences we've had in Sarasota and somewhere we'll absolutely be coming back to. I had high hopes for this place , especially with all the many stars reviews. The menu is NOT traditional Indian cuisine. It is all a FUSIAN creative style of food. I am a foodie, and with a wide experience with international food. In fact , I prefer international food. I was completely LOST in this menu, and asked the waiter to coach me through what the unfamiliar ingredients were. He took this to mean to just parrot back what is written on the menu. I told him that I had already read the menu but I am not indian and do not know what karmiri sauce is, and that most Floridians are not Indian , and don't even know what or where Kashmir is. He got frustrated and immediately pushed me off to the nearest woman, who did a good job of fielding my inquiries. But, did she get my order right? NO. So she had listening problems as well. When I go to a new restaurant, I typically order about 3-4 dishes to have a fair sampling of their menu. TWO of the dishes were dishes I did NOT order. I never got the curry chicken that I did order and instead she made it a lamb curry when I already had another lamb dish and she brought yet another lamb dish when I ordered a shrimp dish. The food tasted prepped ahead and put in the frig. Or drawer. It did NOT arrive freshly cooked and hot. I asked for an iced tea refill and it was completely forgotten. I just spent $125 NOT including tip, for food I now have to find space for in the frig, that I didn't like, and probably won't ever eat. Sorry to say, I will never return to this place. One side guy interrupted me mid sentence with my server, and I told him that he just interrupted me while I was speaking. He was completely unconscious of his actions, so I said, the right thing to do would be to apologize and not interrupt again. He went to the manager and whined to her about me asking for an apology, like some toddler pulling on mom's apron strings. Watching this shit show, was painful to watch, AND painful on my palette, AND painful on my wallet. Never again. read more

Last night was my 2nd time dining at Ganges. The presentation of the food was some of the best I've ever seen. It was like a Michelin star restaurant. Best of all, the food was amazing.
