We had a copper pipe leak in out private suites boiler room. We called Gandy 1st and the tech showed up on time, calling ahead as requested. The plumber was nice but seemed to lack confidence to work on our boiler piping and talked for 30 minutes on the phone to his head office. Getting off the phone he quoted 4-5 hours $1950.00 plus tax and parts. He said part of it was for his licencing he had to upgrade the venting and few other small things and that it would be better in the long run.(this made sense and understood what he was saying) But I was still feeling like I was being bent over a barrel and as it turned out I was. I paid the $89 assessment fee and told them I was going to get a second opinion. The tech was cordial and politely left our site. The competition (Milani) had no idea they were the second call. Our total bill, parts labour and taxes was just over $850.00 As it turned out the leaky pipe was just a presenting issue to potentially larger one. So we ended up with re-plumbing a portion of the system.They also included new venting and the same little things to maintain licensing but for over $1100 dollars less. The over quote was not a mistake on the techs part (he was actually polite and professional) but a direction from the head office for what to charge. Got a quote last year for a new boiler, AC, and replacement of water tank with on demand heating. It was decent. Life got in the way and we didn't go forward with the work. My husband called them about 3 weeks ago to ask them I'd they would be able to give us an updated quote based on this uears prices. The gentleman at the other end of the phone was exceptionally rude and condescending, he clearly couldn't be bothered doing the work and said that it would be difficult to find the original quote. We told him that we still had the email and would that help he essentially hung up on us and rudely said I'll call you back later. Disappointing and very rude. We are getting all 3 done next week by a competitor so they have lost out on a fair bit of cash. Updated to say that the chap that came round last year was very nice as was the customer service. I would be giving 1 star If that wasn't the case. An off day maybe. read more

Great service from the minute I called them with my heater broken down. The technician came down on time on the day of service, he was clean and the work he did was on the money. At first he did a temporary repair to keep our house warm while they ordered the parts and came back to finish the job as they promised. I highly recommend these guys. I had a furnace issue Nov 7. It was diagnosed on Nov 8 by my plumber as an issue that had warranty coverage through the manufacturer. I called Gandy Nov 9 as they were an authorized dealer for Carrier. Talked to a tech who confirmed the part and some labor would be covered. He said I would owe for the balance, likely 8 hours - maybe a 1000$. This tech said their usual diagnostic fee might be waived as the issue had already been diagnosed by my tech. I spoke to the main office Nov 10 who scheduled my repair for Nov 26. At this time I was not told they operated based on flat fees - I assumed they like most plumbing and heating companies billed by the hour. During this call I was told it could be two guys for a day. Nov 13 I received an email quote. It was for a large sum, parts and labor, and a diagnostic fee, despite the fact no Gandy tech had been onsite. I replied that the quote was incorrect - parts and some labor were supposed to be covered. Also I wasn't expecting a diagnostic fee. I received a revised quote Nov 16 which showed parts covered but still no mention of the included labour. There was a large amount quoted for labor but I assumed that was in the eventuality it did take two guys a day. The diagnostic fee was still there but in the invoice notes it said the diagnostic fee wasn't included so I assumed that would be adjusted later. I asked Gandy to go ahead. Nov 20 I get a call from Gandy saying the parts had to come from the US and it could take a month. Did I want to pay for expedited shipping? As I had been without heat now for 12 days I reluctantly agreed. We had to reschedule then as the parts wouldn't arrive in time for the 26th. Parts came finally and the repair was done Dec 4. Final invoice was a total rip off. The repair only took 2.5 hours for one guy. There was some prep in the shop ahead of time assembling the heat exchanger. So I expected my bill would be for a few hours plus shipping. Instead they charged me a flat fee of 1350 for labor. This plus the warranty monies for labor (370$) amount to 1720$ in labor for 4-6 hours work. (287-430$ an hour). And they still included a diagnostic fee. I called the office but was blown off. I contacted the GM who responded quickly and in detail but in the end still stood by the bill. Also they would not provide a shipping invoice to prove the shipping cost. Would not recommend. They may be competent techs but their flat rate billing is a predatory billing practice. Gross overcharging. read more

We had a technician come out over a month ago to look at our hot water tank. He flushed it and said that we would have to replace it very soon. It's 7 years old. Called Gandy to have a Sales Representative come out and give us a quote on a 40 gallon Rheem with electric start, and a 40 gallon just gas. In addition what the cost would be on a central Air Conditioning unit. After quite awhile a Robert Dolinsek Sales Representative came out. Looked at everything including our electric panel which is 100 amps. He said we we need a 200 amp installed. He said he would talk to his electrician and give us a quote on all 3 items. I was okay with this. After 2 weeks from his visit I never heard from him. So I sent him a text, to which responded that he was sorry and that after work he'll send me the quotes via email. Well it's been almost 2 weeks now since we spoke. I have not heard back from him at all or received any quotes. We have bee with Gandy for several years and purchased from them a high efficiency furnace and a Rheem hot water tank, and had them serviced regularly. Service was excellent. However, with the neglect on your Sale Representative to address our needs, and not create more business for you, we have decided to go elsewhere. read more

Update...since Lilly Family plumbing did the correction on the settings ..everything runs great. There was only 1 recommendation made by Gandy and that was to put a FILTER in front of the Navien which is useless as the unit has a filter at the water intake !! read more

The customer service was awful. Take your business elsewhere people. I am legalizing my basement suite so had to put fire dampers into the ducts and install a duct type smoke detector. The city inspector actually recommended Gandy so I thought why not go with it. Cory came over and gave us a quick quote which was nice. But the quote was vague, with no price breakdowns in any way. Just straight up $1800. I asked for a breakdown and Cory said "it's for the cost of materials with mark up and labour, taking about 4-6 hours". I don't know about you but that's not my idea of a breakdown. Regrettfully, we went with them anyways since I wanted the job done asap. Day of install, 2 guys showed up 40 minutes late and were done in less than 2 hours. I was out in the garage and didn't get notified that the work was complete. I expected to get a walk through of what was done, or when I could lock up, etc, but no, they just left. At least they had cleaned up after themselves which was great. All that was left were pieces of the ceiling they had cut out. No manual or specs for the special duct detector installed. My electrician needed the specs in order to wire and initialize the duct detector. So I contacted Cory who didn't get back to me until called him again in 2 days to follow up. The guys told him they had left it on the furnace which they didn't. I looked all over the place. Another day later, still no reply about the specs. I ended up having to google it and print out the manual and specs at work b/c the next day the electrician was coming to do the install. Day of invoice, I got the same vague style bill of $1800. No breakdown of what cost what, how much the labor was, what the markup was, etc etc. I contacted the clerk for a breakdown and instead of getting one, all I got was attitude. She stated I should have requested a detailed breakdown at the time of the quote. Uhhhh... I DID! There seems to be little communication between the office staff and the guys that go out to the jobs. I just don't understand why it is so difficult to get a breakdown. It's not an unreasonable request even though they made me feel like I was asking for the moon. It's almost as if they're hiding something or lying about the cost of things. So frustrating dealing with these people. I never did get a detailed invoice or an apology for the shitty customer service. read more

Impressed! Great customer service. They do my regular maintenance on my furnace and heat pump. My furnace gave out. Called them to get an appointment ASAP, but they were really busy. Spoke to the manager and they sent someone the next day! My warranty on the furnace just expired but they said that since I just had my maintenance done, they should have caught the problem, so all parts were free and just payed labour which was reasonable. The warranty of our new furnace was assigned to Gandy Installations late last year by the furnace manufacturing company (Carrier), as our original furnace installation/servicing company had closed down their business. Recently we observed the furnace was not giving any heat. I phoned Gandy Installations and scheduled a service call. I sent them a copy of the warranty document beforehand and asked whether any parts & labor for this service call would be covered under the warranty. After checking the document, they confirmed that it would be covered and therefore I don't have to pay anything. Two technicians came over on the scheduled day and after some checking of the furnace and the thermostat, they got the furnace working, without having to replace any parts. Even though they suspected the thermostat to be the cause, this could not be fully confirmed. Few weeks later, Gandy informed me that the service call was not covered by the manufacturer's warranty because there was nothing wrong with the furnace itself. However, even though they were not reimbursed by Carrier for their service, they waived the charges for the service call, as they had previously told me there wouldn't be any charges for me. As I was very pleased with the way they handled this issue, I even offered to pay part of the charges for the service call very willingly. However, they wouldn't accept it, saying that it would amount to poor customer service if they accept even a partial payment from the customer. What a great customer service! I'm giving 1 star only because they answered the phone and showed up when they said they would. Sept. 2015 no heat, call Gandy for service call. Arrived when promised and diagnosed needing a new circuit board. Oct. 1 installed new board which came in a kit ( cost $1288.00 ) which included the first service call. 2 weeks later no heat. Call Gandy for service. Lady at phone can't have anybody here for 3 days and explained if I wanted them sooner it was extra $ for call. OK we need heat, the tech arrives Sat. afternoon. After 5 mins. finds that not all the pieces of circuit board kit were installed and therefore burned out the igniter.. he replaced the rest of the kit which included a new igniter. No charge. 2 weeks short of a year no heat (Sept 2016 ). Not wanting to go to Gandy again I call in a other local service co. to repair furnace. After 30 mins. of testing ALL components he tells me I need a new circuit board. Being that the one there is less then a year old he tells me it should be under warranty. Call Gandy for service call and check board for warranty. 2 "techs" arrive 2 days later and after 15 min.s of checking and testing they tell me I need a new inducer motor. With their voltage meter showing that the inducer motor is receiving 24 volts they explain to me I need a new one as it is not starting up and it is getting power ( 24 volts?). They inform me that even if they replace motor and it doesn't work there could be other problems causing it not to work. 2 days later get estimate for motor at $320.00 plus install @ $120.00 per hour. Service call charge for this diagnoses $125.00. After 1 week of fustration I call in another co. as I already knew the inducer motor was fine as the first co. tested it and had it running when it receives the proper voltage (110 volts ) bypassing the circuit board. The 3rd co. brought out a new motor and installed it just to clarify, it did not run therefore it has to be the circuit board as first diagnosed. Gandy did not check circuit board. Now the warranty ( if any) has run out. I fell that Gandy should hire people that come out to your job with the intent of fixing your problem and not salesmen that come out to sell you parts at highly inflated prices and incorrect diagnoses. Also check Gandy's warranty. 60 days parts and labour, most are 1 year. I will never use them again. People check and do your homework. P.S. Not wanting to put another circuit board in I just installed a new furnace instead (10 year warranty). read more

I bought a g71 Lennox from gandy installations four years ago . There was several problems with the installation at that time , and after being talked down to by the owner chuck well I gave up and had someone else fix the problems. It's 2014 and my furnace stopped working . I called gandy and they sent out a tech to look at it . He told me I needed a new heatexchanger , wow it's only 4 years old. When they returned to put it in after leaving me with no heat for two weeks , the tech told me that this happens every day ......... In his opinion he said they are defective and built cheap.... This is a outrage . Basically he told me I will have to go through this every four years .......... It cost me 1000.00 dollars to do this as well , I am trying right now to find out more about this furnace and Lennox and the possibility of a defective furnace or a bigger problem ! All I could find out so far was that Lennox was sued in 1997 for another defective model furnace ( pulse ) My advice to anyone is don't buy a furnace from these guys and definatly don't buy a Lennox . read more
