Still, they cannot get the food service right. Let's not forget the bar, self service, is really high-end and unmatched. let's get back to the food. A lot of the stuff looks un appetizing, dried out. You can confirm, after picking up a selection or two, that most of it is tasteless. Even though, their food presentations have fancy names. Lol. But once in a way, there are a few gems in the display. This time it was that chocolate ganache tart, yes really spectacular. Surely catered (later displays were soggy). They also have a so called "live station" from 6 to 8 pm. This time, I was able to make it. This month's selection was seafood (shrimp and real crab meat) crêpes, mixed in with a mushroom concoction. It is topped with a white wine sauce. Note, the crepe shells (no browning), like everything else, was pre prepared. Only assembly on a hot plate. They need to rename this "assembly station". It was just a show and tell, just okay. It would have been something, if they prepared the crêpes fresh from a batter, in front of you, don't you think? Just that aroma and the real thing, would have been intoxicating, and something to write home about. But American Airlines does not care about that. They dominate certain routes from LAX. They know that. They also know, people will still visit and stay, in their lounges. So how was the on demand Bulgogi burger, ordered by scanning the qr code at your specific seat in a different part of the lounge? I was able to get it at my table away from the specialized area. It arrived fast. The beef was marinated and tender. The fried egg that was part of the burger, had the look consistency and taste, that you would get on a egg and sausage McMuffin. No complaints here. It was the best presentation. Everything was superb in this selection. This was the best item of the evening.

Well, it was a lounge meant for Star Alliance First, Business and Gold members. So it should be at least presentable and premium, right? Negative. So let's dive into the food selection.. FOOD 2/5 Like I mentioned in one of my other reviews, one should not pig out in an airport lounge. Still a respectable lounge should offer a decent selection of food. The Noodle Bar offered in this lounge was a joke. Members are to make their own soup noodles with the ingredients and condiments laid on the counter. It was messy to say the least. I was not sure what to do since the ANA lounge at Narita and Haneda have Noodle Bar, the difference is a staff at each of the lounge would make the soup noodle. One would place an order and receive a buzzer, collect the noodle order when it is ready. I had the impression the Star Alliance lounge should be better. Not at all. So members made a mess at the counter and when I was there, I was wondering where was the protein, vegetables, etc? Only noodles, different broth and condiments were available. So I waited next to a fellow member, clearly she knew what she was doing. We were just standing around, when a staff was tidying the area meant for the meat and veggies. Another member came, the staff told him there would be a wait for another 10 mins for the items to be ready. I was like seriously? Why did she not tell us when we girls were standing around and waiting for a while? In the end, I walked to another section, dropped a few pieces of western chicken dish into the bowl of asian broth. It sounded gross, I know. There was also a lack of pastries. We don't need fancy pastries, just a few small pieces of cakes. Nope, not here. I do like the selection of tea here tho. Service staff kept coming to my seat and wanting to clear my tea, to the point it was disrupting to whatever I was doing. Not sure if it was a good thing when service staff was too enthusiastic in clearly everything. Note: the lounge was located on the 6th floor. One needs to take the elevator (between two escalators) up to the lounge. To the Star Alliance Lounge LAX, do take a page from how ANA (a member of Star Alliance) operates their Noodle Bar. Silver Kris by Singapore Airlines (also a member of Star Alliance) at Incheon is a lot smaller but the selection of the food is way better there. Just to state 2 examples.

The caviar stuffed olives in my martini were terrific, and the hamachi crudo was excellent. Avoiding the chaos of LAX entirely made my trip home to New York feel easy and stress free. Being driven directly to the plane was pretty fun, something I have only experienced before on a commercial flight at Lufthansa's First Class Terminal in Frankfurt. The outdoor space is also really nice, with games like Jenga and cornhole, which would be perfect when traveling with friends or family on a cooler day or at night. They were even kind enough to send me home with snacks, which I appreciated. I did not take advantage of them, but they also offer massages, manicures, pedicures, and other treatments, which is a great option if you want to relax before your flight. If you are flying internationally or, like me, you are on a domestic flight that happens to arrive or depart from this terminal, it is a great option. The food was good. When I visited, they were apologizing because they did not yet have restrooms inside the club, but honestly, the experience was still very good. The staff were kind, the space was comfortable, and the food was solid. For what it is, this little side pocket Admirals Club gets a full 5 stars from me.

This experience was in the smaller less comprehensive lounge. This was my fourth visit to this lounge over the past year, and it's usually pretty good. The check in staff member was friendly, professional, and provided a walking time estimate to my gate. The lounge was clean, organized, and the furniture remains in good condition. The bathrooms are also in good condition. As indicated above, this lounge has less food options but does have some categories of alcohol included. Regarding the food today, they had sausage and egg omelets. Both dishes were room temperature at best. The yogurt and bread selection was good, as were the coffee options. Overall, it was a good experience, but the food would have been better if it was at least warm.
