Never Again -- Completely Mishandled Nintendo Switch 2 Launch We showed up at this GameStop today for the Nintendo Switch 2 release party, per the official GameStop email instructions. According to that, the event started at 3 PM, with pick-up for pre-orders beginning at 9 PM Pacific Time, and the potential to purchase a console without a pre-order if you arrived early enough to line up before the 3 PM event. We got there before noon to be proactive and were immediately concerned that no one else was around -- no signage, no excitement, and no staff outside. When the store opened, the clerk flatly told us, "If you don't have a pre-order, come back at 9." I mentioned the email instructions clearly said otherwise, and he just shrugged and told me to call back at 3 to "see if they had any." We decided to call another GameStop about 15 minutes away, and they were shocked -- they confirmed what we read in the email and even mentioned that they know this particular clerk and that he's done this before. A look at past Yelp reviews confirms this location has a pattern of misinformation and poor handling of release events. And the fact that nobody else was there at the store lined up means he's been telling everybody this over the phone if people have called asking questions. At some point, management needs to step in -- either retrain or replace this employee. Events like this are supposed to be fun and exciting, not confusing and dismissive. Because of this experience, we will never shop at this location, even though it's around the corner from us. We'd rather drive the extra 15 minutes to the other store that actually understands customer service and follows company protocols. One of the best GameStops in the area. Traded my 3 old consoles in for a New PS5. On one of the consoles I was missing hdmi and broken controller Cody helped me out big time and got me the best deal on my trade in value so I didn't lose out on money. Even pre-checked all the prices so I could see what each console goes for, I got my New PS5 and they even manually converted all my data over from the old console to the new console... I just had one of the worst experiences at this GameStop. The staff immediately assumed I was going to steal because someone else supposedly took cards earlier. I wasn't even near the counter, yet I was treated with suspicion and attitude from the moment I walked in. Completely unprofessional, judgmental, and downright rude. It's ridiculous to stereotype paying customers like that--especially when I did absolutely nothing wrong. Man, I had ordered Breathe of the Wild 2 and was going to pick it up on 5/19 so I can have a game night amd pizza with this new game. When I got there, a sign was up that says left at 7:55 will be back asap. Ok, I can wait. So I waited in my car....5 min pass, noone showed. 10 min pass, noone showed, but wait someone was walking up. Nope it was another customer. 15 min pass noone sho........wait 2 people walked up and they were customers. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. 20 min pass and noone ever came back to open the door and lift the security gate. Oh, I didnt mention the gate was down.....YEA! Thanks to this mucka lucka closing early......an hour early, wasted my time and messed up my night. Mucka lucka thought they can close early cuz no customers. Well guess what mucka lucka..... you had customers. Probably pulled a "Next Friday" and smokin that ganja in the back with the vaccum so it wont smell. Before trading in stuff you might want to check their website to see if it has trade value. With older Pokémon or general Nintendo games the value can go up and down over the years. read more

However the manager said he couldn't exchange and have me pay the difference for a new one because it's against return policy. Also it blows my mind that even though my ps4 is working perfectly, typically GameStop would have me return the console and controller just because my controller is broken.. wtf??? This is the best Gamestop me and my kids have been to. Lately we have been here a lot with all the big releases coming out. Everytime we have been here the staff has always been extremely helpful. Sure they try to up sell you and get you to pre-order games, but hey that's there jobs. Two employees in particular Jake and Victoria have always been very helpful and taken the time to go over specifics and recommendations on purchases I have been thinking about making (Triton Headphones, which I am very happy with). If I could rate zero stars I would. I'm new to California and found this gamestop through a neighbor who overheard me make a video game reference to one of my co workers. Give gamestop's track record of poor customer service, I was hesitant to try it out but the store is closer than the nearest target. If most of you are like me then you have been waiting for the release of Fallout 4. I made a reservation for the deluxe edition a few weeks ago and asked if there would be a midnight release. The associate named Jordan told me there would be. When I arrived on at midnight on November 10th, 2015, I waited outside of the store for twenty minutes with another customer. In that twenty minute period we took turns calling the store and trying to get the attention of the two workers inside with Jordan being one of them. After twenty two minutes of waiting in the rain and 40 degree weather they finally came to the door to say that the already did the launch. I asked why didn't they let us know right away and was told to have a nice night and had the door slammed in my face. This is my first time on yelp and I usually don't complain about horrible customer service but after the way I was treated tonight, the community deserves to know. read more

Really annoyed that I even have to write this but I am. I have called twice in the past 2 days and have been put on hold for over 10 minutes each time. This doesn't include all the other times I called and got an automated message saying "all employees are busy, please call back in a few minutes." So technically I was only able to get through to speak with someone twice within 2 days of calling...only to be put on hold again. I have worked in retail most of my life and have never been placed on hold that long unless I was already being helped. Both times I called right in the middle of the day when it is less busy. Whoever is in charge of this business needs to train your employees to be more proactive and take a name and number and call people back if they know they will be waiting that long. Maybe that's too much to ask at this location..... Both times I called I had the same man tell me there was 1 customer ahead of me. I can understand holding for a few minutes but anything over 10 minutes, as a customer, is unacceptable to me. After all, I'm calling you at work and have other shit to do. All I wanted was a game to be put on hold so I could go there quickly after work to purchase it for my boyfriend for Christmas. I haven't even gotten to the store and already terrible customer service. I think I'll pass and go somewhere else. I purchased a purple PlayStation 4 controller back last year in October. I used it for a while and noticed that one of the joysticks was messing up. Decided to give a call and see if I could do an exchange because I purchased the warranty on this one. The guy who I was talking to on the phone kept saying my warranty didn't cover it to exchange to another color and kept saying I couldn't get my money back either. So I decided to go in and talk to someone in person and her name was kaylin, she told me I could exchange it for another color and she also check for me if they had the purple one in stock. Unfortunately the purple one wasn't in stock but she got me the dark blue one which was better then a broken controller. Overall kaylin was very helpful and I really appreciate her helping me because the guy over the phone didn't help much. Approaching Gamestop, a man sitting outdoors at Starbuck's next door started asking for money so he can take the bus. He started with asking for $1.50 in quarters so I was like okay.. I can do that. I gave him $1.75 because that's just what I pulled out. Then he proceeded to ask for another dollar but I looked at him crazy because I couldn't believe the audacity and went into Gamestop. Now, the employee was very helpful with finding the game that I wanted but then the beggar came into the store and put the quarters on the counter in front of the employee and was thanking me for the money and was asking if I had a boyfriend or would I like one.. And I thought the money was for the bus but he was just yapping away some nonsense and laying out his change. The store is fine. I got what I came for. This is probably my favorite south area location. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and I have never had a bad experience shopping here. They do not try to oversell you or push products you are not interested in. However, they will make recommendations based on prior purchases, even when you have not been in their store in a while. Parking has never been an issue here and even during the holiday season, shopping here is not overwhelmingly crowded or chaotic. I have to say though I have moved most of my shopping to doing an online purchase and pick up in the local store option. It just seems more convenient and easier than perusing a store. However, when I feel like perusing a store, this is usually my go to location. read more

They rejected her ID since it was 1 day expired ok dmv has been next to impossible to get into since covid but ok. So she brought in her employment authorization card and they took once glance at it said "we don't accept matricula's here" it wasn't even a matricula. They saw Mexican and made assumptions. We went into the store at 5:58 to pick a game out for my son when a lady approached us and my son and told us unless we know what game we wanted to pick we had to leave the store since they were closing. I bought a PS4 from them when it first came out and it broke 4 months after. I bought the 2 year warranty and they said that once I get my ps4 replaced my warranty is out. What?? Its only been 4 months! I was unaware that when you purchase a ps4 its already a 1 year warranty for free so it was pointless to buy a 2 year warranty when the PS4 broke after 4 months and I could of got it replaced for free under the automatic 1 year warranty. So that 2 year warranty I purchased was pointless. Also everyone who works here seem very clueless. Dont purchase the 2 year Warranty for ps4 because it comes with a free 1 year warranty and chances are it will break way before 1 year even happens. read more

I have been shopping at this Gamestop pretty consistently and have never had an issue finding a game, making the purchase or negativity with customer service while checking out. The only thing that I have been noticing is there is no welcome at the door when you walk in and very little communication between employees and customers, unless of course you make the initiative to go ask for help. Please note that when asking for help it is always there. He was quite upset, but one of the workers said she would try to call around and find one. My husband thought there would be no hope in finding the special edition.
