The service here was terrible. I came to the gamestop store to browse for a Nintendo switch and one employee with the long hair and the beard gave me a surprise. Upon entering, he said something with the likes of "they're the type of people" and continues to whisper and talk shit. Not only he didn't greet us upon entering, he just gave us a snarky and rude stare acting like he was done with the place. On a good note, the lady that the rude person was working with actually cared and asked if we needed any assistance. Poor customer service had to wait in a long line just for them to tell us they don't match their own price that they had available for pickup in store. I wanted to purchase it online in the store but the lady said we had to wait at the back of the line again so I could get the game. Majority of the time, people take time to review the negatives. But when it comes to positive feedback, they don't have time for it, or it's because the service is expected. Well, the thing people need to remember is that the staff are human too and they don't make the rules. They do what they can within their company guidelines just like any other company. I appreciate every interaction I've had, even when it's for 10 seconds. The fact that some started remembering my name, I was surprised (or maybe I am there too much lol). Bottom line is, Majority of the team that I had encounters with are super cool and friendly. To name a few, Macie, Brandon, Mallory (I believe thats her name), and the girl with glasses (I believe filipina) that calls me by my name (I am sorry that I never got yours). You guys are awesome, and gamestop is lucky that you are on their side. I've been shopping there for over 20 years and a pro member for slightly less. The staff now is the best I have seen. I had placed Pre-orders for a Surging Sparks booster box 36 ct and a Terapagos ex Ultra premium collection. I paid my deposit for both preorders but when I went to pick up my preorder I was told they did not have it. I asked why is that so if I put my deposit down and was told I was guaranteed my orders when I put the deposit. I was told by the associate it is "while supplied last" as of today I have not received my order or even a refund for the deposit I put down which makes matters worse. When I asked the associate when can I expect my preorders to come in as a possible restock I was told "we don't know, we don't even know if there will be a restock. But now they made it easier to have one level of "pro" membership. I think it is around $15 for a year? It comes with a cool looking card that you can scan at purchase or trade in for something extra. * You can get a digital version of gameinformer magazine but you can always do both physical and digital. Now for pros and cons, Pros: * Get new releases on the first day release rather than ordering online from elsewhere and wait the whole day. * On Pro days, if you have membership you can get good discounts. * Find good collectible items that you can't find anywhere else. Cons: * If you are planning to trade something in see the trade in value using the app or website beforehand, you'll probably be disappointed in how much you'll get. * They don't accept games from other countries. I tried trading in a Japanese version of an anime fighting game and they didn't accept it. * Sometimes when you buy a game on sale advertised as "new" it will already be opened... * They only accept trade ins for opened products. So if you have an extra amiibo that has never been opened they won't accept it unless you open it yourself. Also the value obviously goes down if you open it. read more

Came to Gamestop to pay for PS4 preorder before the midnight release. I thought preordering would be easy. Pay and pickup anytime after but didn't know that picking up the PS4 at midnight was a requirement or they would cancel and refund your preorder. I even got an email stating that my preorder would be on hold for 48 hours after release. This Gamestop location says otherwise. They told me I must pickup at midnight. I don't get why i have to pick up at midnight when I already paid for the full amount I owe them to preorder my PS4. Why send me an email stating that my reservation for the PS4 will be on hold for 48 hours after release then??? I don't know if the stores just makes up their own rules as they go but it could of been more organized for Customers to pick up their game systems. I'm surprised this location only has such an average rating. This is my favorite Gamestop location around Elk Grove. The girls at the front greeted me right away and asked if I needed help looking for something. I appreciate this because I'm that one person coming in buying a game for someone that I don't even know what gaming system they have. These girls also looked like they know what stock they have without looking it up in their system. That's helpful for gamers out there wanting the latest craze. I personally came for Funkos though. This location has the largest shelf of Funkos I've seen for a Gamestop. They had Funkos that I've been looking for awhile and special ones such as the Comic Con 2016 ones. I also liked that they asked me to sign up for rewards but didn't push the issue if I refused. I've worked in videogame retail, so I don't really mind the upselling that EB and GameStop pushes their employees to do to every single customer. I'd imagine it's annoying to a lot of people when they're asked about buying preorders & subscriptions, but employees are just trying to keep their numbers up so I understand it. I've been going to this particular Gamestop on and off (off moreso lately) for about a decade. Their midnight launches went by rather smoothly (It took me 20 minutes to get my copy of Halo 3. The guy in front waited 13 hours). If you've been to one Gamestop, you've really been to them all when it comes to the new stock they carry; it's just the respective staffs differentiate each store. They've had pretty cool staff in the past (that one guy that staged the PS3 robbery rules though), but this current one is just OK. I was pretty grumpy too when punk kids would come by and play the kiosks for hours, or when smelly fanboys would try to bait you into console war debates so I don't hold it against them if the staff isn't so attentive from time to time. The only real beef I have with Gamestop is that they regularly sell customers gutted games as new. I personally love the feeling of opening up shrinkwrap, so I feel that customers who share this love should be given some kind of discount. It's also a bummer to see that they've strayed away from taking in old hardware. I've had some glorious pickups in the late '90s, but finding older games seems to be a lost experience in today's gaming retail scene. read more

If you have been to one gamestop, you have been to them all. But at this particular location, I went in to pre-order Destiny and some expansion packs for my boyfriend. At first the guy helping me seemed really nice, but then started to be creepy and flirty... After that started going on, I made a specific comment about how my boyfriend would love this game, thinking that this dude would stop flirting... It obviously didn't work, because he left his personal cell # on my recipt w/ his name, and told me to call him if I had any questions? Isn't that against some kind of rules while you're working? So... a week later, I went in to pick up the game. It was the same guy who had helped me before. Lol, he must've been mad I didn't call him or something, because he basically acted like I didn't exist. When he grabbed the game for me, I noticed it was for the ps4. I specifically remembered ordering it for the Xbox One and it even said so on the recipt. Luckily there were still copies left for the Xbox, so it wasn't a huge problem. But he tried to blame what he did, on someone else by saying "oh, whoever helped you last must've mishesrd you." I basically stood there with a "you mean you? Last time I checked when you are running a business you stay open till the hour's that are posted on your door. Apparently this location is exempt from that. I called before me and my friends got here and they said they were open till 9pm. When we got there its was 8:48pm. Their door was locked and we were on the verge of leaving.. this Caucasian man with glasses comes out and say's "I can let you in if you know what you want" shocked I said that it wasn't 9pm and we were going to make it fast. He repeated himself and said if we didn't know what we wanted he "cant" let us in. I work in retail and I know that you definitely can't turn people away no matter how slow it is or close to the hour of your store closing. I will be filling a complaint through corporate. read more

I just stopped in because my ps4 Black Ops 3 version had stopped working. I was within the 30 day exchange guarantee. And Megan had been helping me out and she was going to give me a ps4 without the Black Ops 3 version and she was going to give me $10 because it wasn't a Black Ops 3 version. When I had bought my last ps4 there was a sale going on for $10 and she saw that on the receipt. So she said to me that I owed her $10 because of the deal. And I told her that since she had first owed me money then I owed her that is should be even but she wouldn't budge so I had to pay her $10 for a less machine. A Game Stop is a Game Stop. This location is slightly tucked away by PetCo, so if you are like a lot of shoppers in this area, you generally don't make it past Target in this shopping mall. The store itself needs a deep cleaning, maybe it's the lighting but it just feel dirty. The game selection is typical like any other store. However, the employees here are always very helpful and make sure you greet you when you enter. The last time we went, the employee who helped us had some great tips for some of the games we were checking out, and with the game my boyfriend ended up getting it was right on par with what the employee had said.
