This GameStop is off Rose Ave and Gonzales in the shopping mall of Walmart, Right next to Daniel's Jewelers. Upon entering I really notice how big this store is. It was super clean, highly organized and attention to detail! There are so many games to choose from!! Xboxs, PlayStations, Nintendo switches, ect and top of so many games! This is the gaming world!! Their price points are reasonable for gaming. They also have many funko pops, accessories, shirts and other awesome things too!! So I came in to buy an Apple Itune giftcard along with some questions. Jadon was helped me ring up my purchase. I asked him about all of the Nintendo switches. He so very knowledgeable, kind,sweet,caring, super down to earth, genuine. Jadon really has this very positive upbeat personality about himself. Joshua came in to work When I was talking and had some extra add conversations about the switch too! This GameStop is located in the Wal-Mart parking lot. I usually end up here because my husband wants to find certain types of cards, but I like browsing through their funkos and clearance section. Every time I've been here, the staff have been extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. They will take the time to patiently explain the deals they currently have, what they don't have and have in stock, and suggestions on how you can get your game/cards/items as soon as possible. I've never encountered mediocre service at this store. It's always been above average to exceptional. The prices can be ok to great depending on what promotions they have going on, but luckily a dedicated staff member will help you get what you want or want adjacent at a reasonable price! read more

I bought a Razer Viper wireless mouse in the color pink from this location. It was advertised as brand new fully sealed with all the components. When I bought it home the mouse was dead, wouldn't charge, did not light up, missing the receptor to even be able to use the mouse. Basically what I had bought was an expensive paperweight. This particular store when I called back to inform the store of what they had sold me, I was told there was nothing they could do and now I am stuck with this useless, old, used and abused mouse. This is more a review on Gamestop as a chain. Although I have been to this particular store it found it to be just as pleasing as all the others. I like Gamestop. It is nice to have a store devoted solely to gaming. A big plus to a gaming store is the employees. I have never gone into a gamestop and not found an employee who was un-knowledgeable in the field of video games. Sure there is a chance that the person you talk to has not played the exact game you are talking about, but for the most part they know a lot. I have often called just to ask questions on games, accessories, release dates, ect. It is also nice to have a place with such a large variety of new and used games. You can also trade in games you don't want anymore, but usually for 1/5th the original cost. If you frequent gamestops do not forget to join the club they have, this saves you money on trade-ins, used games, and usually comes with a free year magazine subscription. read more

I have never had worse customer service at a Gamestop. I can forgive idiots asking a poor salesperson if an Xbox plays PS4 games or make waffles. What I speak of inn particular, is service from Kevin. Kids are not people and therefore not entitled to games, promo codes or anything else. ‍ When you avoid him for another cashier, because the least you can do for the poor schmuck is save his dignity. He will then antagonize you in public and threaten you because him BIG MAD and clearly can't handle the rejection. I love GameStop and have never had a bad experience ever until tonight. I usually go to the Ventura or Camarillo stores but was in Oxnard so decided to come here. The two ladies working were super rude to both my children and I. They looked at us and treated us like we were thieves. They kept yawning in everyone's faces and did not seem thrilled to be there. I have shopped at GameStop for over 15 years now and have always been a rewards member. I could be buying the same things on Amazon for cheaper but prefer to go to GameStop because it's something special I do with my boys. I WOULD RATE -0 STAR!! My experience at this Gamestop was horrible. I walked in for a free Pokemon Dragonite Event Card and when I asked the guy at the desk he simply sighed and gave me a rotten look. While he was searching for the card in the desk I tried to start a conversation but he just simply nodded his head at me while looking miserable and silent. What did I do wrong I ask myself?? Then when he got the card he just simply threw it on the counter then I picked it up and happily said thank you very much. He then said not a single thing. Brought my kid here to get an Xbox one. I honestly experienced culture shock here as I know nothing about the games. The words used and ways things were described was so foreign to me, oh the things we learn. The employees were so nice and helpful. They answered all my child's questions and explained differences between games etc. He ended up getting the Xbox one s (I guess the s means slim lol). We signed up for the membership too, spent money to save money....lol. We were told you can buy a game and bring it back and trade it for credit to buy other games. Since my kid is a gamer I figured the membership was worth it and bringing the games back to get other was pretty cool. They have lots of interesting stuff here. Tons of game systems and soooo many games to choose from. They also have some cool Pokémon stuff hehehe. I really don't know much about games so I don't know if the prices are reasonable but they are about the same as other places so I'm going to say they are reasonable. Learn from my mistake, the line starts on the side (opposite side from the door) not in front of the registers. I was asked by an employee to get in line but I didn't know where to go...so the answer is not in front of the registers/counter lol please put a sign up telling us clueless non-gamers where to get in line please hahaha read more

I had been looking for the game battlefield 4 for the PS4. It was priced everywhere else around $30. Called GameStop and asked if they had the game and how much. They had the game for $16!! I dont frequent Gamestops very often unless I am looking for something Limited Edition that only they will carry. Usually the stores I've visited have been very helpful. This review however isnt about those stores. This is about the store in the Rose shopping center in Oxnard. This past christmas 2013 my wife went in there to purchase a PS4 for me as a christmas present. Come christmas day I unwrapped it and noticed that it looked like it had previously been opened. I asked my wife if she opened it she replied no, and that that is how it was sold to her. To top things off I found out she was forced to buy 2 games (labeled NEW, but one was opened and not factory sealed) with it if she wanted the system and then was told she could return the games after the sunday of the week she purchased the console. Upon finding all this out I immediately requested we take it back. I dont want to do business with a company that doesnt respect its customers. As I imagined they gave her a hard time to take it back. They told her it was opened and that she had opened the system and the games. I will say this much I am glad I stayed in the car when this return took place. It was my wifes idea to not have me present. After much grief a manager by the name of CARLOS told her that he would take care of her and that from now on all new games would be sold opened. This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. I will say this much, if I am spending $60 on a game it damn better be sealed. Avoid this location like the plague and if you buy from them make sure you are buying new. I had my own incident with this store when I tried to buy LEGO MARVEL SUPERHEROES for my kids and some girl with crazy hair tried to put a used disc inside a box labeled new. Bad service like this is dangerous for everyone especially the employees. Gamestop as a company needs to train their people to treat paying customers with respect. I understand not everyone deserves it but I dont ever go out of my way to be rude unless I am not being treated fairly same goes for my wife. Ive gone here a couple times and theres always a 50/50 chance that i will get good service. When i whent to go purchase a ps3 the manager was not willing to give me a bag. I was amazed i just spent over $300 and he didnt want to give me a bag? Then i went to a midnight release and they didnt inform anyone that they needed a ticket from them to get in lineand get the game which i had already paid off i had to ask. While i was inline i decided to look at there used games and they got mad at me and shoosed me away. Im not a dog, he couldve just said that they were not selling or allowing people to look at the used games. This is literally the only gamestop that I have issues with and the staff is 100% the problem. The main store manager is fine, I believe her name is Mira, it's the supervisor under her, Erwin, who I've had issues with. He speaks as if he's in a permanent stupor or is unsure of his responses. And for some reason their answer to everything seems to be "the system just had an update so I'm not sure I'd be able to help you out". As for the cashiers/ sales associates there is one who always seems to be working with Erwin, Who's name I can't remember. But she had short black hair and glasses. She gives the impression that she's new due to her lack of knowledge, but she's been there for at least a few months. Transactions with her are brutally slow and akin to Chinese water torture. She always has to ask how to do something, and a relatively simple matter becomes over complicated. I've literally tried to shop here and give them a chance but my last visit is what convinced me to stay away. If you don't mind the drive, the Gamestop in the Pacific View Mall is MUCH better with an amazing staff who actually know what they're talking about. My advice for the Rose location Gamestop is to give their staff a necklace with a plant in it to help replace the oxygen being wasted on their poor excuse for "customer service" read more
