Added an extended warranty without asking. We only saw it once handed the receipt, so we had to return and re-purchase the game. Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon to purchase a Wii game. There were a bunch of empty, broken down boxes piled in the Wii area of the store. When I tried to slide by (assuming they hadn't cleared the empty boxes yet), I was told I couldn't shop that area of the store; they were doing distribution. Clerk was quite rude as she relayed this information. Wasted an hour of my day. Went home and purchased game on Amazon. Done with GameStop and it's ridiculously poor customer service. read more

Okay store with a normal selection of games, super small and only one to two people working at all times. Went in to get the Pokemon 2024 illustration contest promos and got screamed at by both staff members to buy a pro membership when I already said no 3 times before that. 151 Pokemon cards were more expensive than the retail price. read more

Tis a shame it's in the mall. That can be problematic. Tysons Corner is a suburban, upscale yuppie mall, where parking your car is survival of the fittest. Seriously good luck as non drivers. Yet this is a place to go, and GameStop is on the first floor. Here is a decent one, but my goodness don't go on the weekends. It's full and there's no room to breathe, stretch, although to the employees credit they give their best. They have usually a decent selection of games. Okay maybe not so much on the Switch, but Xbox and PlayStation impeccable. They also seem to get a decent amount of new platforms. This is because of their location, no doubt about it as money is abundant. Go here during the weekdays. You'll save your sanity this way. 12/24/19 The line were the longest I have seen so far at this store. Nevertheless I waited in line to return one of the dumbest Disney games I have seen on the Wii U. Over and over again i hear the ever annoying Mickey Mouse song....no wonder Donald Duck tried to get rid of Mickey Mouse... if you don't know what i am talking about, it was a special show back in the 80's. Anyhow, i see this guy who was pressing his lips together over and over again and it looks ridiculous. I thought about recording him and showing him what he is doing, but thought better of it. The guy called me over and I got in store credit since I can't return an open game. I used the credit to pay for another game and that should have been that. However, I did not get the credit for the three dollars warranty for a year back. Now i have to get intouch with customer service and this is going to be a pain in the butt. Shady store, won't come back. Bought a PS5 game and no mention of any warranty being sold to me from the "friendly" employee, just a comment at the very end of the transaction that I can "scan this if there are any problems" and he gives me this sticker with a bar code on it. After leaving I realize there was an extra $4 charge for the GPG (Game Play Guarantee) that covers a replacemetn disc in case it gets damaged. I did not ask for this, so I go back to get a refund. After confronting him about this, he says, "sorry, they automatically add that" and then later contradicts himself by saying "I did tell you there was a warranty." I get the sense he does this on a regular basis to get whatever bonus corporate gives for fooling customers into paying for something that is pretty useless, given that BluRay discs are pretty hard to damage. Got my refund and lesson learned to avoid this store and probably GameStop in general, probably will be out of business by the end of the year anyway. read more

AVOID THIS LOCATION!! (Go the one in Vienna down the street instead!) The Manager on duty Tuesday 10/24/2017 at approx 7:00PM was rude, dismissive and a LIAR. Gamestop is running a promotion right now and when we went to this location last night the manager on duty was incredibly awful and unprofessional to my husband. This was a summary of the exchange: Husband: Hi I would like to sell my old Playstation and buy the new one as part of your current promotion Manager on duty: That promotion is over. (then he walks away immediately) My husband then pulls up the Gamestop website on his phone which specifically shows that the promotion is still active until 10/26. He walks up to the manager and shows him. Manage on duty: Website's wrong. (THEN HE WALKS AWAY AGAIN!!! WTF?!) There was a woman also working there that was much nicer to my husband and even she was unable to get the manager's attention to honor the promotion. So, we ended up going a couple miles down the street to the Gamestop Vienna location. They honored the promotion and were INCREDIBLY nice and professional. Don't waste your time at this location, they are dishonest and will piss you off. read more

I bought call of duty Cold War for my Xbox series X. When I went to the store the employee misinformed me, and told me that I had to pay 70 dollars to pay cross-gen. I believed him when he said it and made the purchase. When I got home my friends told me that was not the case and that I could have bought the 60 dollar versions. Fast forward: I went back to the store today to get my disk replaced. I informed the manager about the problem, and he called me incompetent. He further insinuated that I was defaming GameStop. This store is for gamers and kids that love collectibles. This is a franchise store but this location is right inside Tyson's 1 mall. My son loves to collect Five nights at Freddy pop. He was looking around the whole store for this last Chica collectible item and he couldn't find it. He went up to the counter and asked the nice gentleman that was working there. He was so attentive and assisting all the customers. He checked inside his computer and found that there was one left inside the store. He went on the hunt and found it! I have always been biased with GameStop and avoid going there because of my past experiences in with the franchise at different locations: they tended to ignore me and focused on my male companion (who barely played video games) when I visited the stores, apparently they don't register that a girl can be more than just casual gamers. Anyhow, went yesterday to get a psx3 controller as a last minute xmas present purchase, we got there and it was jam packed. Granted, it was after xmas so the mall is usually crowded. However, I must say that the store layout can be better placed. Their shelf placement of products is totally OBNOXIOUS. They place all the gamestop brand items within the reach and the original brand names all the way on the top that you will need to ask the clerk to fetch it for you. I'm 5"5' and even wearing heels I couldn't reach the original Sony psx3 controller. (I might if you tap jump twice.....) Then M. went to ask a clerk, he said that he'll come to fetch it for us. After waiting for 10 mins, we went to Sony store on the other level of the mall. That place was empty and M. went in and out in a flash. Summary: don't bother with GameStop unless you explore all the other possible options. read more

Imagine a store, lined with kids, accessories, and wall to wall games. GameStop makes no pretense about it's purpose - when you walk in, you're visually assaulted with a multitude of colors, sounds, and of course, kids. I like the fact that they have a buy back program where they will purchase your used games. You can even buy used games with a "buy two, get one free" clause that let's you maximize your buck and try a bunch of them. The clerks are hit or miss - if you get the young lady with coke bottle glasses, she's great. The guys, not so much. The manager can be a tad pushy and is definitely a consummate sales man - but the other guys seem rather grumpy and not happy with their jobs. Why is this place still around? When I buy a game I want it to be new, not opened and "rented" by a store employee. I don't want to be harassed into preordering the Madden 329874 or into buying a warrantee for a disc based game. A few years ago I decided to get rid of my whole video game collection. I took the collection to GameStop in hopes to get cash to go on a trip to Europe, this was a huge mistake. First they didn't accept more than half the games since they were Playstation and Dreamcast games despite the fact they fetched a decent price on eBay. From what they did accept, a PS3 system and a few games, they only offered $200! There are wayyyy better places to get rid of your games! read more

The staff is very helpful and love to talk about their recommendations. Great place to buy new and used games at reasonable prices. Not a full five stars because they could find a better way to form a line than in the middle of the already-small store. Is it even necessary to review Gamestop? All you really need to know is if the customer service and selection is good, right? Big 360, Wii, PS3 section. Virturally non existant PSP section Tend to carry more kid/ family titles because it's in a family mall. Usually only have enough copies of some titles to cover pre-orders (most Atlus/ RPG titles, M-rated Wii games, PSP games). nearly phased out older generation. VERY helpful customer service. Hands down, best customer service at a game stop I've ever encountered. Seems all too often, gamestop employees are archtypical nerds that always have some kind of snide comment for whatever your buying. NOT SO at this Gamestop. Very very helpful. The store manager also went above and beyond to help me with my Game Informer subscription issues (any other manager would of just forwared me to the 800 number on the back of my edge card). Only complaint is lack of enforcement of keeping kids from ruining the store. by lunchtime, nothing is in alphabetical order and you'll probably give up finding the original box of a used game if you're going that route. read more

Where do I begin? Well, I walked in to this store to return a game that I had bought used for my 6 year old cousin. I was planning on buying another game as well. I didn't expect to get what I had paid for the game that I was returning because it had been a very long time since I originally bought it. I casually mentioned to the sales person that the game had never worked and since I did not have my receipt and since it had also been several months since I had purchased the pre-owned game, I did not expect much back for the trade or the return. Luis, the sales person, ended up making my day and taking care of the situation. He returned the game for the price I originally paid. He also suggested a new game that my cousin might like. But then, they told me that it was only for pro members! That ruined my whole day. Things were normal until I went to the GameStop of Dulles Town Center mall. They had they exact same sale!
