The cover / product was unused and in new condition. I would imagine kids open gifts fairly often and realize something is amiss like a speaker cover being the wrong size. Making an even exchange instead of charging a minimal $2.69 would have been frictionless and avoided losing a customer who would continue to spend hundreds of dollars a year. So, while we love the variety of toys and work hard to support local business, it's hard to overlook the lack of customer service.

I found myself looking at games I played as a kid in the 80's and have seen some of the changes since the game orginally came out. From the Gearhead Stunt Garage to the Cooperative Games I have never heard of, but knew of song and/sayings. Apparently these are now a game. Scented pencils are sold here and I think about the crayons that were Scented from when I was in school. The things that trigger memories from your past. The ambience, prices and cleanliness are at an all time high. It is a Saturday today and a lot of kids and parents are in the store. The people in here are well behaved. This place is worth checking out.

We went with a group of three-year olds and they were ecstatic for an opportunity to check out new toys and get some energy out on a dreary day. They had a little something for everyone: ride on toys, baby dolls, sports equiptment, and all of the little blocks/gadgets a child could every want. The costume rack was also a favorite with characters ranging from superheroes, construction workers, to princesses. I love how this spot fills many different needs in the community: a third place for families to convene, eco-friendly way to get rid of all toys, and an affordable place to try out new toys and teach your child about responsibility and sharing. For example, earlier today, I went in and was told a box of Avatar MTG cards was over $210 ($174 on Amazon) so I went to Pair o' Dice and bought it at $180. Victory is super convenient for me but I won't be back. I support my local gaming store but I won't support my local gaming scalper. For shame.

I was told by the manager that teachers receive a 10% discount, but when I asked to apply it, she insisted I present a physical teacher ID. I explained multiple times that I didn't have a physical ID on me, but that I am the owner of a preschool. I offered to show my professional email and even attempted to log into my school's website to verify my identity. Unfortunately, the reception inside the store is very poor my phone calls dropped as soon as I walked in making it difficult to pull anything up online. I asked if she could simply look up my school on the computer behind the counter, and she refused. For a toy and bookstore that promotes educational materials and community engagement, I expected more effort and support toward educators and school owners especially those who have direct access to hundreds of families and students. Instead, I was met with rigid policy enforcement and no willingness to problem-solve. It's disappointing to see a business that markets itself around education and community be so unwilling to work collaboratively with local educators over a modest 10% discount. Customer service should feel supportive, not transactional and dismissive. I think I should take a peek at when their contract is over.

The place is pretty busy now, but the employees are doing what they can to keep things organized and assist guests to the store. The employees may not smile, but they should be approachable. I don't see much of Kuromi in this store this time. The Hello Kitty merchandise does spring up from time to time. I have started taking a liking to the Kuromi collection, but haven't bought anything yet. It's just a matter of time. There is one big thing you should know.
