Let me start with the positives because they do outweigh the experience. - the store is very close by and is larger than the GameStop in the mall - the associates we have interacted with were really funny and held up an enjoyable conversation with us (especially a hilarious girl with tattoos near her eyes, she was awesome and the associate today). So, we incurred a mistake today on the behalf of an associate (I think his name was Zack; he was still nice despite the error). The wrong game was provided to us in the case. We thought it was an honest mistake and easy fix so we returned to the store. Once arrived, we discovered that they actually didn't have the game we purchased. We were told if we chose a refund, we would lose the $6 credit we used to purchase the game despite the prior associate's mistake. The associate, Alex, seemed new and kept looking over to a lady beside him for guidance. She wasn't helpful and was very snippy with us that there was nothing they could do. Once the credit is used, it is lost and that even customer service and corporate wouldn't help.We later found out the lady was the manager. We waited out making a decision so we could call customer service first. My husband has been a manager for years with various companies and didn't believe her claims and was appalled by her deplorable conduct to us and others in the store and on the phone (see previous review that also cited this manager; I was listening to her approach to the call while watching game commercials). We were both pretty annoyed yet calm and quiet despite the inconvenience but she did not deserve such decency. She actually started badmouthing the situation with the associate who was helping us (you could tell even he was uncomfortable with her, he did nothing wrong). We stayed quiet. It made me really uncomfortable and probably made my husband more determined to prove her wrong (which he did). My husband told me later that he almost snapped back at her which I found shocking since he's always level-headed. Like I said, she definitely would have deserved it. Regardless, we successfully resolved the issue with customer service very swiftly. Customer service refunded the totality of credits used. We then got our refund and when my husband received the receipt, he asked for a pen and then asked Alex for the manager's name which kind of took all of us aback. My husband wrote Jazz on the receipt. He has already called customer service and escalated the manager's conduct to corporate management. Over 50% of the reviews in the past year have been negative. Change is needed. We look forward to the follow-up and hope she receives the appropriate consequence for her unprofessionalism. read more

This is a nice implementation of a Gamestop. The store was well stocked, and there were plenty of sales people on the floor around 6:30 PM. It appeared organized and clean. There were some sale sections clearly marked and no obvious empty shelves. The store seemed to be larger than the one in Valrico which I previously reviewed. The parking lot is sometimes a bit of a challenge, and since Gamestop is adjacent to Starbucks that end of the lot can especially be a problem. This particular strip mall contains several other shops. read more

When I need a new game but don't want to wait TWO WHOLE DAYS for Amazon. This place is like every other GS ever. Super-corporate script-reciters for every stage of every interaction. "Do you have any games, systems, tablets, or iPhones to trade in today?" "Do You have a PowerUp Rewards (tm) card?" "You have been pre-approved for..." "Would you like to purchase a one-year warranty..." I want to buy a video game. It should not take me 20 minutes when I'm (for once) the only person in line. Never call ahead either, it's a waste of time for everyone involved. Their website will tell you their inventory, just go there and save the already overworked GS employee and yourself the hassle. Constantly understaffed. Usually filled with nerds wanting to show you their pokemon - and that's not a euphemism, they really want you to see their Charizard. Purchased a used Xbox One S. The controller would not stayed synced to the system. I took it back and the manager would not allow me to trade it for a controller to match my system. So after buying rechargeable batteries and packs prior I now have backs, a charging dock and console that do not match my controller. read more

If someone could open a store to compete with Gamestop they could make some big money. The employees are very helpful, but there is just way too many customers. Long lines and not being able to get help when needed equals frustrating. I only go a few times a year with my nephew when he visits and thank goodness that's the only time. This is where I see the problem, it's only a few times once a year... and no changes, it's always the same...busy, no help one long line. I do want to point out, Young lady that helped us was awesome. I think they are just spread too thin. read more

If there was a negative rating i would give that. Let me start by saying I have been a loyal and dedicated shopper of GameStop for decades. I will never shop at there store again (any of the not just this one in Brandon) I earned $25 in their reward certificates. I bought a game and after seeing bad reviews about it I wanted to exchange it for something else. The bottom line is I will lose the rewards that i spent hundreds of dollars earning. I called the corporate office (customer service) using that lightly. To be hung up on after waiting 30 minutes. My next step is to report them to the BBB. I'm glad they've changed their policies, but you can't ever get in and get out. When I was a bit heavier into gaming, GameStop was the bane of my existence. They'd offer pennies for your old titles, knowing full well they could toss it in a $5 bin and make a killing. While the buyback prices can still be low at times, they've come up a lot from what I remember. Case and point, traded in last year's NHL game and received $9. May not seem like a big deal, but they used to give you $2 or less for old sports titles. I think this is a GameStop problem and not specific to this location...but it takes sooooo looooong to do anything in here. Even a modest line will cost you 15 minutes as you have to recount the color of your first shoelaces to use your account. read more

The service at this Gamestop is great. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about current releases and old-school classics alike. The staff is willing to help you search for the perfect game. The store is clean and well stocked. They have a large selection of used games, if you don't want the high cost of buying a new release. The store also has several gaming stations to try out the latest releases. The gaming stations have always been working, which doesn't happen at some stores. The store will also purchase your used games. They have a discount program if you buy alot of games. It's not hard to pull off a game store, but this location makes the experience pleasant. read more

First off, I'm upset at ALL GameStops because I bought Lego Indiana Jones for the PS3 and got half way through and the game froze. I brought my receipt and the game to GameStop and the stereotypical nerd who "helped" me said that because it's been longer than 30 days, there was nothing he could do. And to rub salt into the would of my wallet, he goes, "Well, you could sell it back to us for $16.00 and then buy a new one for $49.99" F. U. Seriously! Always a huge line here. Always. I'm talking a 10-20 minute wait every time. Whoever owns this place needs to quit being such a cheapskate and put at least one more person on the clock. This isn't a new thing either. It's been like this consistently for several years. I've personally walked out and gone elsewhere at least 5 times. And don't plan on asking any questions or getting any personal assistance...oh no. You'll immediately feel like the jerk that's holding up the line. And that feeling will come from not only the staff subtly trying to rush you, but also from the line of fidgety customers behind you. For that reason I give it one star. During my last visit to this GameStop, the store has grown to double the size, buying out whatever space was next to it. The selection was still pretty standard, no GameStop really seems to be superior over another. They all have the same newly released titles and most old used games look like garbage. Looking at prior reviews this probably won't help much. Crazy long wait to just pick up a game I already paid for. And then get the 12 questions around memberships, preorders, insurance and DLC. I'm in retail myself, and this experience makes me want to buy online. Gotta be a way to speed this process up guys or people will just click and save the hassle read more

These guys are a joke. Called in to trade in PS4, spoke to some "kid" who I asked everything I needed to do in order to bring in, cables needed, and updates. Once o got there, the "assistant manager" said I needed an update that was just release 2 days prior, in order to trade. Asked if we can update the PS4 there or anything we can do since I loved 30 minutes away and since I did call and spoke to one of his employees. Assistant manger very rude and did not want to do anything to help out a customer, other than shake his shoulders. Other "kids" or employees were very cold and felt like I should have bowed down to them. I will never deal with this place again. I have been going to this game stop, for years now. The staff has always been courteous, and given me all the information and help I needed. They have gone out of their way to help me. I think the younger generation of customers today have become exceedingly impatient. I'm in my 40s and I am surprised how courteous the game stop employees are, when they do not get paid very much at all. Every time I've been in, there are two employees, three at most, running around frantically trying to help 10 to 20 customers in the store. This last Christmas I was shopping for PS4 and they had the cheapest price of anyone by $50. $250 for a brand-new PS4 with uncharted four, everyplace else was $300. They have a large selection of games, their rewards membership is worth it, I always comparison-shop over the phone before I go traveling, and I have always found myself ending up at this game stop. I was really surprised by all the negative reviews I read, when I have always had a good experience and been a satisfied customer with this store and it's employees. read more

I've been shopping/trading at gamestop for years. I was looking to pick up my pre-ordered Nintendo Switch Neon Yellow Joy-Con that I paid for about a month ago. I know it was released for sale but I received no message like I usually do. The kid at the counter said "Oops we don't have it, but what I can do is give you a full refund!" Absolutely awful. The employee completely lied to my face about having new copy of a game, saying they didn't have it even though I knew they did because I had checked on their website before I left and it said their location had it in stock, but instead kept bugging me to purchase a pre-owned copy of the game, which I did not want. Also the process of being in the store was much longer than it needed to be with the employee constantly annoying me with reminders of pre ordering a new game and telling me I should get a pro member ship multiple times even though I kept repeating I wasn't interested. read more
