I had a extremely awful encounter with the manager. My friend came into to return his controller, we had multiple set backs out of control. But when we came in with everything we needed including my government id, the working manager at 4:30 December 14th didn't allow us to return it. My friend and I went into this GameStop to return a controller. The first issue started when the employee told us we needed an ID, without specifying what type. Since we are minors, we went back to the car and brought in our school IDs. When we returned, the employee then changed his tone and said it had to be a government-issued ID, which was never clarified initially. To resolve the situation, my older brother came inside and provided his government ID. The employee scanned it, made unnecessary and disrespectful remarks about my friend's card, and told us to "get it together." After scanning my brother's ID and seeing that it went through successfully, he gave us a strange look and asked, "Are any of y'all boys 18?" We said no, and explained that we were unaware you had to be 18 to return an item that was legally purchased. Instead of helping us, he continued to be dismissive. We then asked another adult customer in the store if they could assist us with the return. At that point, the employee--who identified himself as the manager (large afro, nose ring, African American)--said, "I can't let you do that. I'm the manager." We checked GameStop's return policy, and nowhere does it state that you must be 18 to return an item. The entire interaction was unprofessional, inconsistent, and disrespectful. To confirm this was not a company-wide rule, we went to the GameStop on Causeway next to T-Mobile and Village Inn immediately afterward. They returned the item with zero issues. We were in and out quickly, no attitude, no confusion, no made-up rules. This all happened on December 14 around 4:30 PM.
