This location fell off in the last couple months. I think it's under new management and it's clear that it's not an upgrade. I run a home for special needs individuals and the previous manager Jay would give my guys the red carpet service. (Discounts, extras, gift bags, etc.). The dissatisfaction started a month ago with the Pokemon release that had been preordered by one of my charges. We received no call to pick up the order. Later when I returned to inquire about it, I was told that they had been sold. The girl there told me that I was called and a message was left. (I don't have any voicemails.) Later I spoke to Freya who identified themselves as the new manager. I was told that sometimes the calls don't get made but it was my responsibility to know when the 'big releases' are coming out. We cancelled the preorder and got something else. This last week, we went in and the store was disgusting. Tears of the kingdom came out and guess was had a lawn chair sitting outside until 11 for the midnight release. I sat outside for two hours because I pre ordered the game on the GameStop app. I went in trying to receive it and they said it's going to be shipped and as dumbfounded as I was . I'll take the fall for making that mistake and pre ordering it through the app. What gets me is that I still pre ordered the game so I would still receive the plaque exclusive that game stop gives out, but guess what the employee at the counter essentially told me to fuck off and kept trying to rush me out . Saying if I did not pre order from them I would not be getting any items. I then said can I purchase the collectors box if anyone canceled there items and he also said no it was a pre order only deal. MIND YOU the two guys in front of me purchases the collectors box right in front of me and told me they had extras when they walked out. The clerk was being a jerk and making up lies in front of me and just kept trying to get me out of the store . It's sucks because I've seen that employee before and I brought up to my girlfriend when I got home which one kicked me out and she even knew how much of a ass he was we don't even know his name just the way he acts. I get it I will get my copy delivered, but I still want my exclusive content at the very least and I don't appreciate the employee rushing me out and not hearing what I have to say . Spent weeks calling customer service every two days and being told that I would receive a return label by email within 48 hours only to never receive it. When I finally was able to reach someone who could actually help they told me OOPS, too bad, your item is outside the return window. I'd like to think this was someone at the call center just not doing their job, but unfortunately it seems like this might be an intentional ploy to "run out the clock" and not have to provide a working product to their customers. There are too many options online that are cheaper and better. Shop with gamestop at your own risk. So yeah I play video games, its not something I'm proud of and its a complete waste of time that I could be spending at the bar but whatever. So when you walk in the store you are immediately greeted with an auto tune sounding message reminding you that the entire store is under surveillance. It makes me feel uncomfortable and is very indicative of the experience you have at this store. Most of the employees I have interacted with here suffer from a social awkwardness that makes it almost impossible to interact with them enough to actually buy anything. This store is also always crazy busy, like line out the door busy. I hate this store. I hate everything about it but I go here once every couple of weeks so.. There aren't a whole lot of video game stores to choose from so I'm forced into a relationship with these guys. It was actually kinda funny because then why even answer in the first place. Shopping for video games is a great pleasure of mine and let me say: if you're headed to GameStop instead of an independent/retro game store, this is the location to go to. Why? GameStop employee Kyle, who is as big a nerd as I, and also proud of his nerdiness, I suspect. When I was overcome by the urge to buy a refurbished XBox 360 Pro at 8:30 PM, Kyle called every store in the area to find me one I could pick up that night. Kyle was there not only to explain the difference between Halo 3 and Halo 3 ODST to me, but also to offer his seasoned opinion about which was a better buy and why. Kyle was there to get me the best deal on my trade-ins, explaining exactly what discounts I would receive by using my store card and how I could maximize them by coming in during their 50% extra trade-in credit event. Kyle listened sympathetically as I bemoaned the fact that Heavy Rain is a PS3 exclusive title. I bet Kyle is the kind of guy who would love to have a lively debate with me about the best first-person shooter of all time (answer: Goldeneye 007) or the best RPG of all time (answer: Final Fantasy VII). Again it was paid in full. We go at 9 to the doors to pick up my game. To be turn away by an employee because we don't have the freakin sticker!!!!! A FUCKING STICKER!!!!! Are you kidding?!?!? Not to mention there was NO CUSTOMERS THERE WAITING OUTSIDE OR WAITING INSIDE.... The employee let in another guy to check in he could pick it up using his debt card!!!! Dear gamestop, I want you to know that I will not be stepping a foot in a gamestop or giving you another penny of mine, ever again. My problems begin with your lack of stock and inability to maintain inventory. I have tried shopping for games and systems with gamestop for years and have been turned away on several occasions. Today was the last straw. I preordered Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Wii U on January 2nd. Obviously I was pretty excited to purchase and play this game, as I (with cash) preordered from gamestop on 500 E Ben White Blvd Austin, TX 78704, two months before it was released. Imagine how upset and disappointed I was to find out that my copy was sold already. I have to ask how that is fair? I went two months before the masses after purchased for you to hold so that I can guarantee myself a copy. I was made aware of a policy, as I was told that my copy was sold, that a store will hold a product (which doesn't specify a product you've bought already) for 48 hours. To cover all bases, an email should be sent or a phone call should be made, that you will lose your "CASH-PAID PREORDER" (not to be confused with a call ahead "hold"), if you do not pick up soon. I wanted to camp outside of gamestop and wait for the store to open however I have a demanding job. Furthermore, I am in the Navy reserves and I had to fulfill my monthly obligation to our country. I wasn't able to pick up my game until 430pm today. Just as a side note, let's say there was a firm understanding of the 48 hour "hold" policy; when I arrived today, I was told that they sold out Saturday night. That is less than 48 hours. Today, 03-03-2017, went to this location about 6:39 tonight searching for a wii game with my son. He's 11 and didn't know what game he wanted so we browsed for a bit. While talking with him a sales clerk stocking heard our indecisiveness and came to help. She said she played a lot of Wii games and offered about 10 or so games varying on what my son said he wanted. I.E. single player/ multi player...etc... very nice and helpful. I went to check out and the gentlemen was also very informative and helpful. Love this store. I come here for all my gaming needs. I've been to the smaller one at south park but is like walking into a closet. Not here. This place is well lit, has very knowledgeable staff, and i always just want to hang out and talk games all day. I've come here a couple of times on release days, like Mw3 and Skyrim, seems as though the manager doesn't get much sleep. I understand that there's an SoP ( standard operating procedure) for release days but why do i the fully paid pre order have to wait an hour just to pick up my copy. Standing behind Fifty people that may or may not actually buy the game. With two lines open, you can have prepaid and non. That way the people who only need to spend sixty seconds in the store aren't waiting all day. And it will encourage others to pay in advance by starting this new trend. So when there's no prepaid left in line common sense states you'd help the next non P in line. I know i know what a Superb idea. Any who the store is clean, safe, and conveniently located. Sorry GameStop but I'd give negative stars for this location if I could. The men in my house have been doing the gaming thing for a long time so I'm at GameStop every Christmas. I've never been to this location and was very impressed with their efficiency with last minute shoppers, they had someone at the line asking what you were getting them they'd go get it and give it to the cashier. I was in & out in no time. The problem? My husband is Xbox. He has the 360 & the One. He asked for two newly released games but didn't specify which console and I don't have a clue and didn't think of that til I was there. So I asked the girl. She said they were for the One. Then I asked about the Elite controller. She said they're hard to get ahold of. Ok so both games for the One and she went to go get them. Austin traffic, two days before Christmas. This is one of the better GameStop locations in the Austin area although that still doesn't say much. Most of the employees are super nice and always willing to take the extra time to help you out. But of course as with all GameStop locations there are always a few bad ones too but I've rarely dealt with an overly condescending employee. Its Gamestop! What more do you need to know about it. They have ventured out more into the electronic world when it comes to buying and selling cellphones and tablets. This is one of my favorite locations for the people. Everyone in there knows there stuff! I am an RPG fan and usually that is what I stick to. For me, its not just about Final Fantasy...I love the horrible ones, the slow ones, random, and weird ones. I've always had the best help. If they do not have something, they have always gone far and beyond to find what I need. The only bad thing is the location. You're better off going before or after the lunch rush. Exciting or getting into the general area is a hassle. It doesn't help that there is a Starbucks, bank, Chick fil A but it is, what it is. Of course during the holidays it can be crazy so always prepare yourself for the battle. Other than that, great people and selection. read more

I'm a nerd at heart. My brother and I started off with Atari, graduated to Nintendo, upgraded to Super Nintendo and a few Christmases ago, I asked for an Xbox 360 with Kinect. I've played a series of games from Call of Duty to Monopoly to dance games for Kinect. We recently wanted a couple new games to prevent us from going out so much on the weekends, so we decided to hit up Game Stop. The guys here really know there stuff! We like playing games like Mario Brothers, but that is unfortunately not something that comes for the Xbox since the Xbox is Microsoft and the Wii (Mario Brothers) is Nintendo. We asked the guy if there were any games he could recommend any 2 player games that were "like" Mario & Luigi. He quickly responded with 2 or 3 games of which we ended up getting a Lego game but Harry Potter themed. And let me tell you folks....IT.IS.AWESOME. Is it made for 10 year-olds? Yep. Do I absolutely love it? Absolutely! We also picked up Jeopardy, but I can only handle getting my #%* handed to me by my significant other so many times before I give up and resort to drinking wine while trying to answer the questions. It's unfair though because in the video game version, at the least the one we got, it gives you multiple choice answers so if you don't know the answer and ring in, you can choose from 3 different answers. Kinda bogus, but still fun. We made a rule that you had to yell the answer before you buzzed in to make it fair. It's still not fun for me since my boyfriend is a brainiac and well, he's just super smart. Jeopardy smart. So I'd tell all my nerd friends if you are looking for games and want reputable advice on what to buy or have someone actually give a damn about what you're in there for, go here. Very bad customer service. I am reminded of how corp dont care about people anymore only money. I went in and they sales person was not helpful, and told me to get an Xbox instead of a PS3. I was insulted, as i have both, but Halo is only on the Xbox. Do not really understand why the rep not know that. Here is the kicker. My final total was to be $54.13. They ran my card for $541.30. The manager smiled, and said do not worry it will be back in your account in a couple of days. I purchased a used Playstation 3 back in October. I get home and everything is fine, minus the power button. The system managed to turn on but would not comply when I attempted to shut it off. The system was used and thus understandably not perfect, however for them to sell a system that doesn't power off, shows the lack of attention to detail on the employees part when examining and testing trade-in systems.
