Grand opening sign, Gamer's Guild of Pleasant Hill opened up on the 2nd story of the shopping center, just above Body Bar Pilates.

Just happened by Gamer's Guild during the store's grand opening. They don't have a store sign for the shopping center yet, but they're in and amidst abunch of places like Safeway / DalDal a korean desset spot, and Body Bar pilates. Had to climb a set of stairs to get to thw location. Overall great looking store, they have a ton of fresh inventory and nice looking play tables and chairs with cushioning. I'm excited to see what Gamer's Guild can do to meet Pleasant Hill's gaming needs. They're obviously still stocking some shelves, but they have a ton of stuff, mainly Warhammer and TCG / CCG, but their board games assortment was also pretty solid, much better selection of Marvel/DC themed games than some retailers do. Prices seem fairly comparable to other retailers but vary widely. Not all merchandise had price stickers so can't say too much, given I was just looking. Sounds like they have a store discord, will have to check them out again after they've settled into their space.

Scott's Brix has bins and bins of pieces, colors, and shapes you didn't even know you needed. I loved that you can grab bags of random bricks. It feels like a little treasure hunt every time. The vibe is super local and friendly, and you can tell they really care about the community. Definitely a spot worth supporting. Whether you're building something specific or just feeding your inner kid, this shop is such a fun find!

The person focalizing the sorting/kit building area in back helped two in-person and one phone customer while I was there. She did her level best to find the pieces I needed, told me why odds of finding them were slim and suggested alternatives in the midst of the joyful chaos! I watched her help other folks too, and she was consistently kind and patient! She gave me background on the store's history and it explains a lot! Go in and ask! It'll make you want to go back! Her consideration was echoed by the younger person at the register when I finally bought the few things I'd found. And it even extended to folks like my son who are not Lego-obsessed, with a pleasant waiting area somewhat out of the melee! Admittedly Lego is pricy and Costco would be cheaper but for loose parts, well organized shopping areas , pre-owned and new sets and service beyond compare this is THE PLACE TO BE!!!!

On occasion, they will have their giant inflated Pikachu right out in front of the little shopping center area, so you can't miss it when that happens. What do they sell here? Kind of a little bit of everything really. There's toys, plushies, video games, models, figures, and of course Pokemon cards along with other stuff. Lots of fun stuff for all, and for all ages too as they have quite a bit of retro stuff floating around here. The place does remind me quite a bit of the kind of set-up I would see in Japan and stuff, where display cases are all over, with stuff just sprawled out inside of them for people to look and peruse over. There really aren't too many of these places like this anywhere nowadays. Good nostalgia just from that perspective. Makes it fun. How is the pricing of everything? Actually reasonable for most things I saw here. There were some things that seemed to be fairly overpriced, but it was mainly for the rarer stuff which is understandable, but still pretty far over the market price elsewhere (online and such). But the general stuff sold here were all fair enough for a physical store. The service here, I actually didn't really interact with them much. While I was walking around the store I did hear customers converse with the staff and it seemed friendly enough, so I assume it's fine. They seemed eager to help when people walked up to the counter-adjacent areas, so there's that. Though I didn't walk out with anything the first time I visited the place, finally, I certainly almost wanted to grab something quite a few times as I was making my way through there. Will definitely be back at some point later.

Anyways, the daughter wanted to check this place out to get something for her friend's birthday; unfortunately, they didn't have the items/characters she was looking for. We browsed around, and it seems that a lot of the store is focused on modeling kits - lots of those, Gundam, paints, tools, etc. They have some aisles for plushies and other soft characters / mascots, etc., and some for figurines as well. They also have limited selection of those lottery things where you pay for a ticket, reveal what the ticket has and get that "prize." One of the things that caught our eyes were their mystery / blind boxes. Gambling! My daughter ended up getting a few of those, but sadly some repeats. Bad luck haha. Noticed they had a couple sets of Labubu for sale as well, but similar to a lot of stuff here, they were heavily marked up. For instance, when we went, Have a Seat was $65 a box and Big Energy or something was $85 a box. Wowzers! Crazy how there is such a hype, but they are hard to get, so desperate consumers would pay desperate prices I suppose. There was also a table of mystery bags. There is a hint to which character or anime or contents as well. None of those really caught our eyes, but maybe someday!
