I just recently moved back to Long Island and am beginning rediscover the local eats and just how tasty the South Shore is. I was with my in laws and husband when they asked "where should we go?" I had the perfect idea: Galleria! I have family who live in Merrick and come to Galleria literally every other week, and I've been several times to vouch that this food is absolutely delicious! I love that there is a separate take out eatery and a small, yet quaint dining room. Service staff are very friendly and the prices are perfect. We walked in, sat immediately, and were presented with PASTA SPECIAL menus. I mean, jackpot! All pasta specials come with salad and garlic sticks, which is not something I'm used to when in Brooklyn a good plate of pasta is $20. I ordered the fettuccini with pesto, my husband got something off the regular menu(a chicken with pecans and reddish sauce). My mom in law got farfalle with chicken and my grandma got fusilli with eggplant. We all thoroughly loved our dishes, and we can't wait to order pizza and more next time! Galleria has a fire chicken caesar slice, you got to try it. I most recently had the Umami wings with siracha hot honey, garlic, onion, and toasted red chilis. Thet make a marinara slice here which is awesome, and is probably my favorite item. Sauce is sweet, with chunks of tomato and just the right amount of onion and garlic. Sicilian Alla vodka slice is also a hit. You can't go wrong with anything here. Staff is fast and friendly and you can order pizza in a hurry or if you'd like, they have additional seating with waiter/waitress service that I have not yet tried, but I'm looking forward to it. The food is great and usually the workers are amazing but I just recently went to eat at the place and was met with nothing but awkwardness and left being uncomfortable. Two of the employees one was like blonde and had a buzz cut and the other had black curly hair. Basically they were talking to one of their friends that came in and whenever a rush had ended they would group up chit chat and then stare right at me. Omg! Winnah winnah, chicken dinner...or should I say chicken parmigiana dinner! My husband and I just got home from the Galleria in North Merrick, and I've got to say, it was fabulous! I was a little concerned because I heard the restaurant had been passed down to the owner's son, and very often that can be the kiss of death, but not in this case! The place looks so new and warm, with comfy chairs, a banquet for large parties, and the food is magnificent. We started off with the baked clams, which have to be the best I ever had...shell licking amazing with a buttery herb blend. For Seconde, we shared a tri-color salad that wasn't on the menu, since new menus were being printed, but was always my favorite...no problem making it, they are eager to please, and it was just as delicious as I remembered it, the tartness of the endive, arugula and radicchio cut by the savory sweetness of the dressing. For our main course, I had the eggplant parmigiana. I love eggplant but many times restaurants make it soggy, or there are tough bitter pieces of the vegetable, weighted down with sauce. The Galleria's was perfect! Crisp slices of eggplant, mounted in just the right amount of sauce and melted mozzarella. My husband had the veal Marsala, and kept showing me how tender the veal was by cutting it with his fork. The sauce was sooo good, and the strips of garlic bread were perfect for sopping it up. Then, the piece d'resistance! Mama's tiramisu! As full as we were, it floated onto our forks, so light and refreshing. Still made by Mama, who served it to us for years! Ciro Pernice, the new owner and son of Gaetano, the previous owner of 37 years, stopped at our table after greeting a family with 3 young children, leaving the children giggling and the parents smiling, to ask how everything was. We congratulated him as well as offered our condolences on the passing of his dad. We told him that we loved the new look of the restaurant and he explained that he wanted to bring it into modern times, but keep the quality of the food that was such a hit for so many generations. It was time for an update to my review ... You know those restaurants you crave from your hometown and rush to as soon as you come back to visit? Galleria is that place for me. The food -- both pizza and dinner -- are always fantastic and in generous portions. My favorites include the buffalo chicken pizza, chicken francese and rigatoni ala vodka. But everything is incredibly good. And oh those breadsticks that come with your dinner order. Yum. The staff, including the management, are incredibly friendly and helpful. The owner and his son and boss always greet me with a welcome home, every time I come back -- even if it has been several months. Galleria is a local treasure and should be enjoyed by all. read more

The inside of the restaurant is completely redone and very warm and inviting as you enter. The aroma of fresh sauce fills the room and the selection of different slices that are available to you is amazing. The owner Ciro likes to come up with new creations and they are all very tasty. Meal selections from the kitchen are also very good and haven't had a bad meal yet. If you are in the area it is recommended that you stop by and taste the food and you won't regret it. I was on my way with a friend to see a Christmas Light display, when we decided to stop and get something to eat before arriving at our destination. We decided on Galleria and OMG we were in for a treat. Their food is amazing and very tasty. The atmosphere was quite cozy and warm. Staff very friendly and welcoming. I have some strong opinions about this place. Although the food and service is very good, I found that the hand dryer in the bathroom is very weak. Also my waitress wouldn't serve wine to a 17 year old. Thumbs down. They don't have spaghetti tacos and refused to sing to me on my birthday. Great specialty slices. They have about ten Roman style rectangular specialty pies with four slices each. I had the spinach and mushroom slice. It come out $4 and change. The slice was ready quick and I thought it was very flavorful. Definitely a good spot due a quick specialty slice. read more

In comparison to other pizza places on Long Island, this is definitely up there as being one of the best! If I could give this place a 4.5, I would. The only complaint I actually have is the mere fact that there is limited to no parking around this location. What really stands out for me about the pizza is that the marinara sauce is a little bit sweeter then usual pizzas whichI love and sometimes even crave. Also, the crust is not too doughy or how I would describe as not as "dusty." The cheese is not too salty, a bit oily but it doesnt really fall off of the slice as easily as some other places do. highly recommend! read more

Visit Date: March 1, 2014 I've actually eaten here quite a few times before my review. I used to live literally 2 or 3 houses away from this pizza place so when I had extra money because I was poor at the time I would sometimes eat here. I never reviewed them though because my visits weren't recent. I came here with my best friend (who's like my sister) and her nephew. We sat in the dining room but they have no waitress service until 4 PM, so we basically gave our orders to the person at the counter and that person bought our orders out to our table. I ordered the eggplant parm, my friend had a salad and shared the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken with her nephew. We were also given bread, and I ordered a cappuccino, so did her 11 year old nephew (apparently he drinks coffee all the time). The cappuccino did the trick, not the best I've had but still pretty good. It was also served in a pretty big coffee cup which I'm definitely a fan of. I will take a large serving of good coffee anytime! The bread was good, again not bad, freshly made, decent bread. The eggplant parm was interesting. The eggplant was cooked nicely, it tasted great, there was enough cheese and plenty of sauce. I prefer my eggplant parm with extra sauce and extra cheese. The sauce had a unique taste to it, I can't really describe it except to say it was good and different from any other sauce I've tasted. My friend liked the fettuccine alfredo she said it was very creamy. The service was good even though there was no waitress, it was still nice that they did manage to bring our food to our table anyway. Everyone we dealt with was friendly. It looks like there is a fair amount of seating here to deal with busy crowds, and it seemed like the place got a good amount of business in both take out and dining in. So far I've been pretty impressed with many of the Italian restuarants I've tried in Merrick including Galleria! read more

Went here for a Sunday dinner with Jen S. and her parents. I've had food from there before, but I have never been before. We were seated and handed menus. I ordered grilled chicken with tomatoes and broccoli rabe covered mozzarella drizzled with balsamic. It was delicious. The chicken was juicy. The broccoli was cooked right. It came with a salad. I would definitely recommend it. The staff was professional. The place was clean. It was typical of a Long Island pizzeria that serves entrees. This place went downhill. It used to be a great spot for a slice but this guy cares more about making gimmick specialty slices then he does about providing quality pizza. The quality of a regular pie has shrunk drastically. Literally, the large pie is now the size of a glorified personal pizza. The food and the service at the Galleria is amazing! I used to live in Merrick and returned one day to get pizza and forgot how amazing the food was. After 22 years in Merrick and countless dinners at Galleria, we have never been more disappointed than we were tonight. I ordered the chicken francaise and my wife had the chicken piccata, Both dishes not only looked the same, but they also tasted the same, like DINER FOOD. The wait staff was also very disappointing. After our meal came, no one stopped by to ask how the food was. To add insult to injury, a member of the wait staff passed our table three times before taking my credit card, but he was able to chat with the table behind us. The food here is very good. My friends all love the plain cheese pizza here. I ate in the dining room once, and I've gotten take out other times. Recently, I ordered a small-sized (6 slice) chicken parmigiana pizza, and my friend got the Galleria Special. We both enjoyed our food. My girlfriend and I come here frequently for a bite to eat. We always dine-in and order the Gnocci entrée. You can tell that they make it fresh-to-order by the way the cheese is melted and the sauce is drizzled on top of the Gnocci pasta. It is very delicious. Plus, the service is great. They also give you fresh bread with olive oil before your meal comes. They even have a TV to watch the baseball or football game as you eat. The pizza is surprisingly good, and the take-out service extremely fast, "that's is? number 23, 20 minutes" was the typical ending of a conversation with these guys. Nunzio (I have no idea how to spell this name) is the older guy who works on the weekends has been there forever, and is a very nice and accommodating man. There is a strong family presence working the place, which is nice to see. They recently expanded to have a larger seating area. They have a decent menu, but have never had anything other that pizza.
