Place us dirty ans sticky. I thought give it a try for a second time but it was bad idea . I asked for to go certain dishes on a plate, girl just used a long and deep plastic container and smashed my food in there and wrapped with plastic. The onions salsa was on a clear plastic bag. My order looked like a left over for my dog. She said that is how they serve and charged me $15. Very rude and show little knowledge on customer service and maners. read more

On this strip, there is another restaurant. It gets tons of great reviews. It has a hoppin' bar scene and everyone loves to go there for margaritas and arepas. You know the spot. This place is better. There are any number of places that you can get "authentic mexican food" in Norwalk and they're all more or less the same. It's "authentic" but it's also a little bland, predictable and, let's be honest it takes a little bit of a leap of faith to eat out of some of those kitchens. Galicia is different, though, they don't follow that formula. I sometimes think that Galicia doesn't really know just how good they are. The food that they're turning out of that kitchen truly makes it one of those secret, under the radar places that, by rights, should have a ridiculous crowd of people "in the know" sitting in and outside on a Friday or Saturday night. Their burritos, alone, are worth a detour. They are stuffed vegetables, whatever meat you want, avocados and all kinds of deliciousness. One of the things that impresses me most about Galicia is that they run out of things. If you get there after a certain hour, your selections might be limited by what they still have left. I LOVE this because it means that they make everything fresh. If you want a tamal, you better get in there before they've sold the last of their batch because there's only so many made each day. If you want some of that delicious carnitas that the magician lady in the back whips up, you better get at it because there a bottom to that batch. You won't ever see them try to sneak by any questionable ingredients on you, either. No wilty looking lettuce, no "last of the chorizo" crunchy scraps. The service is always great and they'll entertain your broken Spanish but don't feel like you need it. If you don't speak any Spanish whatsoever, there's usually (95% of the time) someone there who speaks English. You'll be fine. If you're looking for ambience, though, you better look elsewhere. The place is clean but no frills. There's nothing wrong with it but also, it's not fancy. Purely utilitarian. That said, that's not why I didn't 5 star it. I didn't 5 star it because I don't 5 star anything (well, OK, maybe Le Farm.) The only, only, only complaint that I have is that they should use styrofoam to-go containers because the metal ones pick up that metallic zing in the rice and beans and their rice and beans are delicious. You know how you fancy yourself a "foodie" who appreciates little places that knock the cover off the ball and which nobody else knows about? Do yourself a favor and discover this place. Note that this is the place on Main Street. There's another Galicia over on East Ave which is unrelated to this place (and nowhere near in the same league.) This is no doubt the best Latin food in Norwalk and beyond that, it's one of the best restaurants of any style in Norwalk and that's inclusive or the handful in this neighborhood that everyone fawns over. read more

Best. Burrito. Ever. I've only gotten takeout from Galicia. Ordering over the phone won't be easy if you don't speak Spanish, so just go in and point at what you want on the menu. All I ever get is the chicken burrito. It's stuffed silly with everything you could want--you gotta fork & knife this one. Oh and it's smothered with queso blanco on top. This will last you at least two days with a big helping of rice and beans on the side. read more

Omg!! The food was so good and the lady so friendly and informative. I had chicken flautas with rice and black refried beans, I don't even like beans and these were good! My husband had torta hawaiiana and he says we can drive there just for that (1 hr 30 min drive). This is a must if you're in the area. read more

Amazingly delicious Peruvian restaurant. While it shares a street with places such as Valencia, this is authentic. This is my second time here, and what they have on the far end of the counter is my go to (I don't speak Spanish, I just know it's steak oh well). It's a small place tucked away next to a liquor store. I plan on continuing to return as it's affordable fantastic South American food. read more

Galicia is NO deli (they really need to change their name). It is however a great local dive with excellent Mexican AND Peruvian food and a wonderful, friendly staff. It's without question some of the best Mexican food we've had... Norwalk or elsewhere. Authentic Mexico City style, amazing flavor and everything is totally fresh, made to order and well worth the wait. Jose (misspelled) is hip and full of ideas and recipes and just makes the experience... great! Highly recommended and we'll be back to try more and different options for certain! As others have mentioned, have passed this place probably hundreds of times. Wife and I decided to give it a try and were super pleased! Clean and comfy tables and seating. Extensive mexican and peruvian menu. When we were seated, complimentary home made chips and guacamole were brought out to us, a meal in it self. I opted for the steak, chicken, beef and sausage tacos. Wife had the grilled chicken platter (huge portions) that came with delicious pieces of seasoned chicken, chunky guac, rice and beans, salad and corn tortillas . My tacos were each generously stuffed in two tasty corn tortillas and topped with onions and cilantro. For drinks we had really tasty horchatas (rice milk drink). We were really pleased and satisfied with our dinner. And service was excellent! read more

I had to order using my Google Translate app because no one there at the time spoke English. Then when I got my food it had sour cream on it despite me asking (on the app) that I didn't want any sour cream. Next I was charged more for the food than stated on the menu. Their excuse was that they just haven't updated the menu with the new prices yet. Finally the food was not even good. The burrito was falling apart before I even touched it. There was hardly any meat in there. Mostly vegetables and sour cream. Avoid this place. There are plenty of other options on the same road. read more

I hardly post reviews on yelp, but felt this little place deserved a review. I had a pleasant experience in this smaller sit-down restaurant. There's a number of tables (maybe 6) as well as couple on their outside patio. With recommendations, I initially tried their hearty meat soup along with steak taco. They both were tasty, and ended up ordering an equally tasty pastor taco (spicy pork basically). I think I prefer the steak tacos! They have tacos and burritors along side other dishes you can select from. I'm not sure if the readily made dishes are available all day or just for lunch. Great hospitality and friendly staff. Okay, so I don't post very often on Yelp, and I don't live in Norwalk anymore, and I'm not associated with Galicias Deli in anyway. I live in northern California now and while in the Sacramento Valley it is hard to find great, I mean really great mexican food(there's plenty of very good), I found a great burrito place/taq with the best chips ever in Rutherford called La Luna Market which I will leave a review for shortly. That being said, I am surprised that Galicias Deli has not received another review since I posted one a long time ago. The nachos at Galicias are still the best, though I finally found better chips in Norcal. That being said, with the three great sauces , especially the smoky chipotle one, I still crave this place. So, I highly recommend a try. It isn't San Diego Mexican but it would certainly do well in the Sacramento Valley. Give it a try in Norwalk. Yeah, there's Ole Mole with great chilaquiles and black bean soup in Stamford, but this place is great and much more affordable. If I move back East, I'll certainly stop by on a trip to Boston or CT. read more

I walked by, drove by, this place for the last two years and never stopped in until recently, and now I regret that I didn't discover it sooner. The steak nachos are simply awesome, especially if you get the guac with them. The steak burrito is pretty good too. Have seen this place for years and finally tried it based on the reviews. It's a little storefront with super-fresh looking produce in the refrigerator case. Everything seemed to be made to order, including the guacamole and the chips, and it was all delicious. The green salsa and the guacamole were excellent. We had tacos, burritos, and the seafood soup and everything was fresh and tasty. The server was really friendly. We will definitely be going back! read more
