What a great find. after a 2 hour wait for 2 on Fathers Day we wandered down the street to the find the Galaxy Cafe in Stuart. Waited about 5 minutes in a full house. Ms. Sheila greeted us right away and took our drink order. She gave us wonderful service. This is the closest diner near our home and my husband and I always enjoy eating here because of the customer service. It's like eating at home but you don't need to prepare, slave over a hot stove and clean-up. Place gets full fast because I think everyone else in our area share the same notion as we do. Nothing here is fresh made. We paid $4.50 for a side of what turned out to be canned corned beef hash; the sausage patties are frozen; my poached eggs were runny; the onions in my boyfriend's omelet were raw; my grits were lumpy and had no flavor; and it's not cheap. It doesn't happen often that a diner rates are review so low that it even surprises me. I like diners, they feel a very important role in the food chain. However I believe, that if Galaxy diner were to disappear, the world would be a better place. The order was quite simple. It was only two sandwiches and a bowl of chili. It took 45 minutes. The grilled cheese was extremely dark and too hot to eat. The club sandwich equated to a piece of bread, a half inch of Turkey, another slice of bread, a single piece of bacon covered by wilted lettuce and a very mushy tomato. It looked more like a turkey BLT than a club. The service was horrible. Sheila, our waitress, seem to have a really bad attitude when I inquired as to how long our food was going to take. Her response was it will be out in a minute. It took 6 more minutes which got me to the 45 minutes I waited. Couple those two sandwiches with a bowl of chili and two sweet teas and you have a $30 check at this diner. It takes a special kind of bravado to charge that much money for this kind of food. My wife and I decided to try this diner again notwithstanding the recent negative review(s) it received. We both ordered the prime rib. Our dinners were served at the temperature each of us requested. The meat was tender and flavorful. We asked for well baked (soft) potatoes, and that is how they came. Service was good, though If you are looking for perfection, you won't find it here. This isn't the Ritz, and if you are looking for that level of service, you need to go to the Ritz. But, if you are looking for good reasonably priced food and reasonably good service, this diner will definitely satisfy your needs. read more

While on vacation, we visited this spot after being told it had change owners and was under new management. We had liked the place years ago and decided to give the new owners a fair chance. The food, I had the chicken parm sandwich, was just run of the mill, almost on the verge of dog-food quality. However, it was the service that leads to me giving them a single star (again, wish I could give a zero). The server, an older lady, seemed as if something in her life had completely stripped her of any ability to produce even the slightest of smiles. She was just plain rude! We were never checked on to see how our food was (no big deal, it happens); I waited until I was finished with my food for a refil of drink (that too can happen- no big deal); but when a waitress literally THROWS the check into your table with no acknowledgement of your existence while some of us were still eating, with such discontent that you feel as tho your presence is a bother, I draw the line. This waitress single handedly earned this place a zero in my book; rude, rude, and offensively RUDE! F you too lady! I'll NEVER Be back. I just hope the owners figure out she is a cancer to the front end of their establishment and give her the boot; either that, or they will watch their business fall into the depths of failure. Take note, go elsewhere; nothing here worth $15 a plate. Dog food is cheaper at Walmart. read more

Decided to stop here on our way to a high school football game in Port St. Lucie. We loved it, the food was good and plenty of it, served in plenty of time for us to get to the game, atmosphere is friendly. I'm giving it a four because it's what a good diner is supposed to be. When we all say "where do you want to go"? it's the diner is the answer for informal, good meals. Breakfast is quick, and inexpensive, and if you are from the Del-Mar-Va area (Delaware, Maryland, Virginia) you will be surprised to find they serve scrapple, which I have never seen in Florida. Lunch and Dinner, I try to stick with the specials, and the Greek food is very good. I don't eat deserts, but they look good. The service is great, plenty of parking (it's in a Publix plaza). I went here for a working lunch. Prices are a bit steep. The food around the table was generally regarded as "OK", with breakfast (eggs) and crepes being the highlights. My triple decker sandwich was boring and thin (I figured a triple decker would have a substantial amount of meat inside... I was substantially wrong). The french fries were a step up from Wendy's. On the way out, I noticed the dessert chest with a very tempting cake (probably 8" tall), but by that point, I was over it. Will I return? Not for a sandwich, but maybe for the cake. read more

We were relieved to find this place as an alternative to fast food while driving from airport in Palm Beach up to Vero Beach. We just needed to go past the chains at the exit ramp to the closes shopping center. Galaxy was open late, a cute place with colorful murals and nice people. As New Yorkers, we could relate to the classic Greek diner menu and found the prices typical, so I would suspect Floridians would find them expensive. One of us ordered a mahi-mahi special, one an open-faced roast beef sandwich, and one a spanikopita with Greek salad. We were hungry, and the portions were large and the food pretty tasty. What really blew our minds -- good wines were by the glass. What a treat at a diner! Spotless dining room and except for grime around the doorknobs (yuck!) the bathroom was also very clean. So today my friend was dying for a egg sandwich and she remembered this place never been inside before so she called placed a pick up order for a egg sandwich and a side of ham! Simple enough or so you would think she went in after she was told multiple times that they didn't have ham she looked at the menu and there was sides of ham and ham sandwiches and so on but the part that got us was the young lady's attitude when she was asking about the side of ham and then the sandwich was a bacon egg and cheese again simple enough! Not for the woman taking the order we get our food we get to the car she checks it to find it is wrong so we go back and tell the lady and she has a server help us instead of dealing with it her self so we explained what happened and everything and they did correct the order but they said the woman had an attitude due to the fact that she had to work the front counter and that's her issue so they did not even offer us a discount on the food that was messed up or for the woman's attitude either but that is ok as we will not recommend this place to anyone nor will we be returning anytime soo either!!! read more

We live so close and choose to eat here 2 or 3 times a week. From ribeyes to pasta to breakfast all day, you can't go wrong.
