Haven't written a review about this place for awhile even though I'm here almost everyday and just wanted to remind people this place has good food and very good service. It is a nice clean dinner atmosphere. You always get a warm welcome so if you haven't been here yet get your butterflies in here, especially if you're a local it's time to support a small local business during the off season. Had a good couple of Tuesday lunches at Sammy J's this month! A wonderful waitress, Aaliayan!!! She even remembered what I wanted to drink, iced tea but 1/2 sweet, 1/2 unsweetened! This time I had soup and sandwich, chicken salad with lettuce and tomato with a cup of chicken noodle soup! I'll be back!!! read more

We received referral from our fav bakery in Stuart this morning for Sammy's versus another diner. Glad we accepted the recommendation ... Old school diner with older clientele and several employees all hustling. I tried the Hangover bowl which were many breakfast options in a bowl. Levels of hash browns, gravy, and all the breakfast meats. Seasoned well and pretty large portion for 12.99. 1/2 went home and teen devoured. Wife got the chix fried steak which was covered in white gravy. Came with eggs, toast, and grits or potatoes. Big enough to also portion 1/2 to take home. Gone at dinner the same night. Employees were available, place was clean, and breakfast was fast but warm and fresh. read more

I love Sammy J's. It's a great old fashioned breakfast spot. I'm sure all their food is good but I always have breakfast there. I always eat outside and talk to other patrons. Very friendly place. I bring my corgi and they bring out water for him. Their cook knows how to cook eggs and omelets. Great food at a reasonable price. My favorite is the Greek omelet. Comes w potatoes & toast. This place is always busy and we know why - it's the best spot for breakfast around our little area! We love coming here on the weekends, you seat yourself at any clean table - service is quick and everyone works together to ensure the customers are happy! Food is always great - nothing fancy but I don't want a fancy breakfast on the weekends. Seat yourself, it is rather annoying that you need to do this as people are standing around at dirty tables waiting for someone to clean it. Then hoping a waitress sees you to order food. We went and it was really busy, expected more from the experience but was basically mediocre. We went once, that was enough to say we tried it, I wouldn't go back, just so unorganized. The food portions were on the skimpy side as well. There are a lot of really good diners locally, this is not my first choice. read more

We had a late breakfast today @ Sammy J's using a new Stuart resident coupon that was mailed to us. This diner did not disappoint from the excellent filling breakfast to the friendly service from our Server - Jordan. My Husband enjoyed the coffee and had the two pancakes breakfast with eggs and Taylor pork roll. The pancakes we very large in size and tasted like a hint of vanilla was in the batter. The side of Taylor pork roll was a treat, as I am originally from New Jersey and I have not been to a Florida restaurant previously that offered pork roll as a breakfast meat side. The portion was very generous. I had the meat omelette with cheese, which was very loaded with sausage, bacon, ham and Swiss that was also was very delicious. Hash browns and toast were served with my meal and they were very good and crispy and not greasy. We would not have seen this diner from the road, as it is located on the end of the plaza and hidden behind Duncan Donuts. We will definitely be returning here for another delicious breakfast and enjoy the food and service. The portions are big and the prices are good for what is served. read more

The shopping center is run down and dirty yet Sammy J's continues to sparkle nonetheless. This is a breakfast/lunch diner with a repeat clientelle from the neighboring communities. Most of the time, the food is really good but during season...the food comes out very slow and cold. Everyone seems to adjust acordingly and I didn't see any frustration on the the happy faces of customers nor did the constant influx of people seem to faze the waitstaff. Our order of pancakes and a basic egg plate took forever to get to us and positively took a backseat to the grilled cranberry orange muffin even tho it arrived late and with one side missing a huge piece (the waitress was willing to replace it but we opted to keep it) it turned out to be pretty good. The breakfasts on the other hand were cold and the pancakes were thick and tough. Why doesn't anyone serve a decent portion of butter with pancakes? Uuurrrghhhh. All said, we probably are going to take a break from this place until maybe summer. Afterall, there's so many items on the menu we haven't yet tried. Until next time... read more

Very cramped, tables too close to each other. Bad service, asked for cutlery 2x, finally got up and got myself a straw to stir coffee. Items forgotten from order, had to request again, had to get my own ketchup, hot sauce from another table, could not get servers help, so I helped myself yet again. Hair on plate. Been there so many different times but the past few times had a horrible experience. First our server doesn't even greet us. Takes our older. Our omelettes had uncooked egg in it. Our server didn't check in for us to explain what happened. Our hash brown were raw. The girl looked miserable to be there. Don't recommend. read more

Nice, mom and pop spot for breakfast and lunch! Was feeling quite lazy one weekend morning and decided to order out. Being so close by and haven't tried it yet, decided to go with Sammy J's. I got the chipped beef, which I crave often probably from being from a northern state like NJ lol. It wasn't bad, just very salty like they say on the menu. Atleast they give you a heads up, I just wasn't expecting it to be that salty. However, I wasn't wasting it and still ate it. Again, not bad.. What a great old school breakfast spot. Sammys has what you need and does it with class. Was on a recent trip to Hobe Sound with family and would go to the dunkin in the same lot next to Publix every morning. Been wondering what the deal is with Sammy J's so decided to skip dunkins long drive threw line and try this place instead. Ordered ahead a few Bacon Egg and Cheeses - the standard measurement tool for takeout breakfast. ~$5 each all in which isn't cheap but not insane. Also got a hot coffee, black. I don't need that sugar and milk is for babies. Do you think Sammy is a person or they are referring to breakfast Sandwich? I think the latter as they were hot, cheesy, and bacon bacon bacon! If I don't get food poisoning Than the food was good. I'm sure the health department hasn't been here in a while. The amount of flies everywhere turned my stomach. The bus boy wipes the tables with a dirty rag and throws food on the floor. This place could be very cute and quaint with a lot of cleaning and a little effort. Absolutely perfect diner. The atmosphere, the greeting of the regulars, THE FOOD!!!! Makes you feel comfortable and right at home. Who doesn't want that with their breakfast? We both had the #7, a side of scrapple, and a half order of BG. Eggs were cooked to perfection. Scrapple was crisp. Hash was delicious. Add cheese and onions to your hash browns. Overall perfect and exactly what we were craving. Service was prompt, polite, and absolutely dynamite. Couldn't sing enough praises. read more

I ordered breakfast through DoorDash. They screwed my order on many, many levels. The english muffin could be used as a hammer, as shown to the girl on the phone who heard me banging on my table. The eggs were not sunny side up and the 'steak' was thinner and togher than my work boot leather . I called and was hung up 2 tmes until I got a supervisor. They never apologized, but treated me like an a-hole, a pain in their a**. Hard to describe if I've ever had a worse customer service contact. Even Comcast... It just stinks that I spent good money and had to trash three quarters of my meal and the person on the phone treated me like like like an (fill in the blank) I will never go there or ever order from them again and will tell everyone I know the poor food and worse customer service I got from this neighborhood restaurant right around the corner, even if they upgrade their kitchen and customer service staff. My order as well as my treatment by 2 employees has shown me their true colors. I'm more annoyed at the girl on the phone who hung up on me twice until a supervisor answered, and she was snarky too! Overall, I wish there was a less than zero rating here. NEVER AGAIN, for many reasons...Sammy J's is a poor place to deal with, food and staff!!!!! read more

Absolutely love their food! I've never been in the restaurant but I order delivery from them every Saturday. Saturday is my only day to sleep in and then my kids and I order breakfast. We had been spot hopping until we found Sammy Js. Their menu is amazing! It has everything and they don't skrimp on the portions! My daughter loves their cinnamon roll pancakes and my son is all about the chocolate chip pancakes. I try a little off everything and all the Food always comes out amazing! Wonderful job! Food tasted great. Before covid it must've been a great breakfast spot but I didn't feel comfortable eating here today. There are no social distancing guidelines, waitresses and waiters masks are on and off, they do not enforce wearing a mask for customers upon entry when passing others tables. This diner looks far worse than the experience. Don't judge the place by it's appearance and you won't be disappointed. I had the Junkyard Eggs (they literally put everything they've got in scrambled eggs). The eggs were well cooked, not runny, not rubbery. The veggies had just enough crunch to be satisfying and reassured me they were fresh, not rotten like certain other local places. I even enjoyed the sausage, and I typically hate breakfast sausage. The hash browns had some good flavor though slightly overdone, but nothing a little ketchup didn't solve. Docked a star for the OJ. This might be me being nitpicky, but if I'm paying $2 per glass I'd like for it to not taste like the generic watered down jugs on clearance from Publix... Though honestly I have yet to eat breakfast anywhere in South Florida that serves proper orange juice. The waitress was friendly and attentive. I was sufficiently served without being pestered. This is no small feat when seated at the counter vs a table so kudos to the waitress, I suspect she's a long time pro at this gig. I went in at 0630 on a Sunday and was in and out in probably less than 30 minutes total. I did notice as I was leaving that the place was starting to fill up so I'd recommend trying to time your visit appropriately. read more
