This is a tough review to write because until yesterday, I trusted Gadgetmates--especially Jonas--completely. I've recommended them, defended them, and even did so in-store less than 24 hours before this went sideways. Then it fell apart. I dropped off my laptop at 2:30 p.m. for what I was told was a simple job: remove a RAID controller, copy data, and install a second SSD. I was promised it was "easy," that data transfer was the only real step, and that I'd have it back by 2 p.m. the next day. I was signed up for text updates--none came. At 5:45 p.m. that same day, I called to check in. I was told the transfer was "60-70% done." Two other people heard that call. The next day was a string of delays, missed calls, and vague updates. By 4:30 p.m.--well past the promised deadline--I finally learned the truth: no data had been transferred, no work had been done, and the laptop hadn't even been turned on. (Alienware logs don't lie.) Then came the real problem: Jonas. Instead of owning the failure, he pivoted to condescension and denial--telling me I "don't understand RAID," insisting no one promised a next-day turnaround, claiming my SSD was defective (it isn't), and denying statements multiple people heard firsthand. In short, the story changed, the facts didn't, and I was treated like the problem. Meanwhile, I can't get anyone to tell me my data was safe; I was panicking as any normal person would. I have backups, scattered across several drives and will take days to recover to 90% of what was on the laptop. I got the laptop back around 5 p.m., untouched until 3:30 that afternoon--hours after I was told work was already mostly complete. How do I know this? Because every powerup, every keystroke is logged by the laptop's security system. See shots below: One can see exactly when it was plugged in. Mistakes happen. I can deal with delays and mistakes. We're all human. What I don't tolerate is being misled, talked down to, and effectively called a liar when there's clear evidence otherwise, indicating precisely who did what and when. Curious isn't it, how some business project their own failings onto others, rather than just honestly owning the problem and making it right? That's how I manage my clients, anyway. Explain the failure, offer a solution, make it right, and everybody stays friendly. I'd never consider insulting a client; it cost a lot to gain them, and it's easily 30X more costly to lose one. Tara et all were fantastic. My phone went swimming without me and they brought it back to life. The cost was very modest. They said because if the heavy water damage it could start malfunctioning. It did. I took it back and they offered me 3 comparable phones all reasonably priced if I wanted they good still move all the data over. Verizon wanted to sell me an $800 phone with a new 3 yr deal and after being a customer for 25 yrs this didn't sit well with me so I went with gadgetmates. They transfered everything over to a new phone and even deducted their la or charge from my old phone towards the purchase. I love my new phone, bought a very cool but inexpensive phone cover and Tara threw on a screen protector for me. Love these guys! read more

The staff at GadgetMates are lovely and very helpful. If they don't have to charge you, they don't! For instance, recently I brought in screensavers and they changed my screen saver and camera saver for free and even helped me add a new fingerprint to open up my phone. This is the second time I've been to GadgetMates, and each time i've been amazed at how excellent the customer service is. Customer service is a dying art but it's alive and well at GadgetMates. Don't let the good reviews fool you. They will string you along just to try and rip you off in the end. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. This place is the biggest scam for an electronics shop. TLDR: Originally talked to one of the employees about selling them my 2 older desktops (1 custom built, 1 pre-built), 2 monitors (1 HP S2031, and Lenovo 6521-HG1), 1 Iphone 7, 1 netgear modem, 1 netgear router. They told me that they would only be interested in the desktops. So I let them take a look at them and they said they would get back to me on a price. The employee I talked to called me later that day just before they were going to close and said they would give me $40 for both, which I understand that I was not going to get much for them as they are older, and that they would Zelle me the money. I accepted. However the next day rolled around and it was around lunch time, I still had not received anything. I called them and a different employee answered. I let them know that I was told that I would be sent $40 and was curious when the money would be sent. The employee told me that they would not be sending me anything since the computers did not boot to video. I explained that I was told yesterday that I would be receiving $40 and now you are telling me I am not getting anything at all? What kind of business practice is that? Their owner got on the phone and "apologized" (apology came off very fake) and asked me if their was anything else I maybe had and that he would make an offer on it. I figured I could give them a second chance. I let the owner know I had the 2 monitors and an Iphone 7. He told me to bring them in and he would make an offer. I brought them in and the owner was not there so they had me wait. After sometime went by, the only woman employee there gave the owner a call and I guess he was not coming in now and instead wanted to speak over the phone with me. He told me that since the monitors did not have an HDMI or DisplayPort plugin that he could not really give me anything for them. He offered me $20 if I took the desktops back and left him the monitors. I did a price check on the monitors before going in and the HP S2031 sells for $129 on Amazon as a used monitor and the Lenovo 6521-HG1 sells for varied amounts of prices but the lowest I found was $237.50. I would have taken a quarter or 3rd of the price for each monitor. I understand they are a business and they have to make their money, but to only offer $20 is like spitting in my face and telling me to enjoy it. I decided to just take it all back and leave with such a spit in the face offer like that. Especially after getting strung along. The only positive I had was the one woman employee there was extremely nice and helped me put everything into my car. read more

I'm not 100% that I bought the machine I need-- mostly because I'm a tech twit who was last competent at the 10 goto 10 era shift point -- but I am completely comfortable with the person behind the sale and with the service backing my future experience. As you know if you followed my adventures in errand running today, I was in extreme executive dysfunction and not good at being in public. At the store that almost spiraled into full meltdown. Took my Razer laptop here for a battery replacement. No hassle or issues. They were very professional and charged me way less than the other places that gave me quotes. My daughter was a in a car accident and her phone ended up in a pool of dutch brothers frozen shark attack. Being a teenager who works, she relies on her phone for EVERYTHING. We purchased her a new phone and hoped to be able to transfer the data from her old phone. Since it had been submerged in sugary slushy that proved to be an impossible task. My iPhone 13 Pro died on the last day of a two-week vacation. It sucked losing my phone, but what I was more concerned about the photos I lost. My phone stopped backing up to iCloud about 1 week into the vacation (even though I had it been connected to power and wi-fi every night). I suspected the phone had water damage. I took it to the Apple Store and explained that my main concern was recovering my photos. They did a quick diagnostic and could not get a response from the phone. The Apple Store said that they cannot repair water damage and would need to replace the logic board which would mean I would lose all the data and that it would cost about half the price of a new phone. They referred me to a data recovery business that everyone online says charges exorbitant fees, likely thousands of dollars. I decided to give GadgetMates a try as their website lists water damage and iPhone data recovery among their services. I brought my phone to them late on a Friday afternoon and they said they would diagnose it and get back to me. I expected to hear back Monday with some bad news, but was surprised when they called me back an hour or two later saying the phone just needs a new screen, power port, and proximity flex cable and the cost would be about half of what the Apple Store quoted. Most importantly, the logic board was intact. I swung by their store to enter my pin while they had it hooked up to a new screen so I could confirm the photos were all there. They were able to fix it that same day while I waited in their shop playing some arcade games. I highly recommend GadgetMates for any phone issues and wouldn't hesitate to use them again should the need arise. read more

GadgetMates fixed my iPhone about six weeks ago, which a car had run over. They did it in one day, which was fantastic as I cannot do business without my phone. About a week later, my phone's display started occasionally blacking out for a couple of seconds. It kept doing it and slightly increased in frequency. The display went totally black before I had a chance to take it back to GadgetMates . After GadgetMates fixed my phone originally, they told me to bring it back in if I had any trouble with it, which I did the next day. They said they would look at the phone and call me later that day. Four hours later, I received a text saying my phone was fixed and to come pick it up. I was a little concerned as I didn't have a guarantee or warranty in writing, just the verbal word of an employee.
