But the night I tried to change it, the battery seemed to miraculously catch a second wind, which felt like the ultimate blessing because I had a super important document to file the next day!
Changing the battery seemed more complex than I'd expected, and my battery started recharging as usual, so I assumed I no longer needed a new one and accepted the blessing because I had so many documents to complete and writing to do.
On Friday, August 21, 2026, 14 months after my laptop battery miraculously caught a second wind, I noticed my laptop wouldn't close fully and realized the battery had swollen! I had another important document to file in a few days, and I couldn't risk my battery exploding and damaging my laptop, so I called Eastern Laptop, spoke to the owner, Abi, and hurried over immediately!
Eastern Laptop Repair sits in an upscale, massive high-rise building, and Abi came down to meet me and guide me to his office. He had a pleasant vibe and seemed highly knowledgeable and personable. He gave me a couple of battery options, and I chose the least expensive option at 117.41 and paid via PayPal. He texted me a receipt. On my way out, Abi showed me a door located in the back parking lot where I could park to avoid the lengthy walk to his office. The rear door stands extremely close to Abi's office.
Abi said he would have the battery replaced by Monday, and true to his word, he called me Monday morning to let me know he had replaced it. When I returned on Monday, I parked in the rear parking lot and rounded the left corner to his office.
When I sat in his office chair, he showed me my fully closed laptop, and I felt elated because I had a ticking time bomb sitting on my desk and didn't even know it. If the battery exploded and damaged my laptop, it would have been disastrous because I had an important document to complete and file in the coming days.
Abi said he would email me a $ 100.00 coupon I could use toward future services, and I don't think he sent it. But he can send it now that I wrote a review. I meant to write a review much sooner, but I have so many responsibilities and another important document to complete by the end of the month.
The moral of my experience is to replace your laptop battery as soon as it tells you to. My laptop is over a decade old, and I amazingly made it this far without replacing it. But the battery had to transform into a ticking time bomb to do that!
I have a minor suggestion for Abi: please don't put any advertising stickers on laptops, because he put one on the top and bottom of mine. The top sticker came off easily, but the bottom sticker didn't come off completely. I'll get it off eventually. But my laptop is old, so when I upgrade, I want a clean laptop with no sticker residue.
I highly recommend Eastern Laptop and will return for future laptop needs or repairs. Excellent service from top to bottom, and I appreciate Abi's professionalism, expertise, and kindness.
