I met coworkers here a week and a half ago for bookclub. It was my first time there. I had the taco salad. It was really delicious. The service was good. It was a bit too dark in there for my liking. They don't do separate checks so one coworker paid and everyone Venmo'd her. I was disappointed that they don't do that. I only had water. A coworker wanted a refill for her soda. They don't have refills for that so she said she'd pass on that. If I find myself here again, I'm sure I'd love to try more of their menu. I have heard that their wings are really good. read more

Stopped here because this place fell on the list of places to get good buffalo wings. Arrived right after they opened, was easy to get parking around the area, probably a bit different in the evening. Wings were a "3" rating, nothing amazing, but would have been considered legendary in my hometown. Service was absolutely fine, no concerns. Prices were admittedly a bit higher than the other popular spots around town, perhaps due to the ambience? My friends were not impressed because most everything was between $20-30 for a lunch when all accounted for....in 2025, at essentially a bar-type establishment. For that reason alone I'd have a difficult time getting pals to join me on a return trip. Interior was dark and wooden, perhaps historical, but the smell of the establishment screamed kind of "dive bar" if that means anything to you. read more

We were in Buffalo visiting friends, who brought us to Gabriel's Gate for lunch. This is one of their favorite places to eat downtown, and I see why. First, the atmosphere is wonderfully nostalgia/artsy/funky. Beautiful antique carved wood, lots of interesting things hanging, stained glass, etc. The restaurant is in a restored brownstone, tucked in on a quieter street for downtown. We were a party of 6 and this was zero problem for them. We were seated promptly, drinks brought and menus offered. This is upscale bar food, and they do it right. Of course, the famous dish would be Buffalo Style Wings. I know, I'm a weirdo, I don't like wings though. the NMA and their BFFS got big ole pile of wings, which I think vanished in thin air because they were put down on the table and then whoosh! Gone! Three twentysomethings with rings of buffalo style sauce around their mouths gave me a clue, along with curious piles of bones. It's either some ancient ritual or they really liked the wings. I got a hamburger which was both delicious and huge. SCFG got the chicken sandwich as a 'healthy' option. I didn't have the heart to tell her that chicken coated in cheese and bacon isn't really "healthy". Nah. Let her enjoy. Service was efficient but unobtrusive. It's a pub/tavern/bar so look for there to be some noise. We enjoyed our meal there and would ask to go back next time we're visiting them. read more

We got here just as they opened at 11:30AM on a Sunday and we were promptly seated. The bar is an entire vibe. It's a dive and I mean that in the best way possible. It's an old house that they turned into a restaurant. Very cool. We ordered the Poutine, Beef on Weck, onion rings, and wings - Medium and Cajun. The wings were great. Are they the best in Buffalo? Personally, I don't think so, but they are very good. Their medium flavor definetly brings a nice level of heat. The Cajun comes as a dry rub. I liked them, but they weren't my favorite. The chicken was crispy and moist on the inside. Overall, a very good wing and if you told me these are your favorite I wouldn't think that is a crazy statement to make. The Beef on Weck was a huge miss. The roast beef wasn't fresh. I didn't like the color of it and it was a little tough with some bites. This was a major let down. The Poutine and Onion Rings were terrific. I loved the thick gravy on the poutine - I was actually still craving it on the way home. Excellent poutine and it's up there with all the poutine I ate in Montreal. I also loved the onion rings - perfectly battered, thick, just awesome. Overall, a very good experience, but I think the next time I'm in Buffalo I'll check out some of the other big name places. read more

Finally got around to trying one of Allentown's finest! Gabriel's Gate looks cute and cozy inside and out. It is not really wheelchair/handicap accessible as the main entrance is a bunch of steps. Inside the seating is close and cozy. With a bunch of cool different sculptures, and taxidermy with a cozy historic lodge kind of feel. The menu is a bit on the more pricey side (with my budget anyway lol) but seems fair for the Allentowne district area. Our server was on top of it and took care of us constantly the whole time. We ordered a bunch of wings [medium cajun (yummy), hot (yummy but a little hotter than I thought it would be), Sriracha (was hotter than I expected), BBQ], poutine, and chili fries. And got a bunch of drinks (no free refills). Food, service, atmosphere everything was amazing. Wings are definitely amazing. I hope they have more accessible restaurant entrances soon. But overall a decent place to go and have a good time. read more

What a gem in Buffalo! Coming from out of state on business and being a huge wing eater, all the locals told me not to miss this place. The vibe walking in is great as you enter and look down the entry you see a seating area as well as a full bar. The place was buzzing and I saw the wings flying by every few minutes. My food concierge immediate asked me for my drink order and I asked for whatever Heff they had on draft. Within a few minutes, I had an ice cold glass and a delicious brewsky. I started out with the French Onion Soup which was fantastic. Full of thick provolone cheese, a delicious not overly salted soup, tons of onions and obligatory bread on the botton. This was damn good FOS! Along with my soup I ordered the garlic bread which made that dipping in the soup last a long time extending my anticipation for what was coming next..... HOT WINGS! I did the hot hot wings because there is only one traditional wing I put to the test and that is the standard HOT wing or outside of Buffalo "buffalo wings". Don't ask for Buffalo wings because in Buffalo it's just wings. That's like asking for Buffalo Buffalo wings and waiving a ROOKIE TOURIST flag while ordering! The wings are double fried, crispy and full of that buffalo hot sauce tangy vinegar based sauce which I think is Franks Hot with butter but not sure. It was so tasty I was sticking my fingers like an Only Fans model but without getting paid! They have a full menu with tons of choices and the other food coming by looked great. I'll be back to try their other food on the next trip! If you are in Buffalo, DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE! I hadn't been to Gabriel's for quite a long time and was craving a fish fry. Sitting at the quickly filling bar, I was warmly greeted and then served a properly poured Guinness. My fish fry arrived in a timely manner, regardless of that it was now extremely busy. The fish was huge and fried to a perfect golden crispy brown. Inside it was moist, flaky and flavorful. The accompanying fries and the slaw were wonderful as well. I can avow that Gabriel's indeed has the best fish fry in Allentown. The list of best of grows! The best wings, french onion soup and fish fry. read more

I had heard this place had amazing wings, and have been wanting to try it for a long time. I really only came for the wings, and was surprised to see that they don't have many options for them. We arrived around 5:30pm on a Tuesday and were sat right away, but the food took about 30 mins to arrive after we had ordered, even though the restaurant was not very busy. The restaurant itself is an old house that was converted. It's cool how they have tried to preserve it, but the chairs were honestly pretty uncomfortable. The wings are listed on the menu as Buffalo, and you had to pay extra if you wanted a different sauce. However, there were only around 3 other sauce options. We ended up picking BBQ. We also opted to pay $1 more for all flats. They were pretty good! I just wish there were more sauce options. We also got a cheesesteak and French fries. The fries were pretty yummy, cheesesteak was just okay. Overall, happy I tried this place. Large menu that probably has something for everybody. But I wouldn't say it's among the best wings in Buffalo. read more

On my flight to buffalo i mentioned to a passenger I wanted to try buffalo wings, and he very enthusiastically said that I absolutely had to go to Gabriel's Gate. Turn out it was only a 15 min walk from hotel so I went for it. I had the French onion soup and the buffalo wings at the "suicide" level heat. French onion soup: Really good, overflowing with cheese. I was happy I ordered this Wings: I was nervous that the suicide wings weren't going to be good, because typically to get a lot of heat you have to sacrifice taste but I was wrong. Without any exaggeration these were the best wings I ever had. It was making my nose run (which my spice tolerance is super high so that's saying something) but not so hot it felt like a novelty item. And the taste was great. The wings were large. 10/10. I mean it, best wings I ever had. Thank you random passenger on my flight. read more

Best wings in Buffalo hands down!!! Family and I had dinner there this week. We had wings, French onion soup and fettuccine Alfredo. All were fantastic! The portions were HUGE. When in Buffalo, eat Buffalo wings. We were going to try the usual suspects, Anchor Bar or Duffs, but a local recommended this place. Worth the trip. First, I started with a French Onion Soup. Although the broth was a bit salty, the thick cheese was absolutely delicious and the bread and broth had a rich garlic flavor that enhanced everything. Absolutely delicious and decently priced at $7.95 for a crock. The wings were meaty and well prepared. With each bite, first you get the nice, crisp skin and then the moistness of the chicken meat. We got the 10 piece ($17.95), which was a bit high on the price point, but not terrible. We asked for "original" wings and the Staff suggested "medium" spice. We learned that "original" means Frank's Red Hot Original (I don't know if that's the product they use, but it tasted like Franks.), which was reportedly the original secret ingredient in the first Buffalo wings. There were a few carrot and celery pieces that came with the wings and an uninspired blue cheese dressing. The dressing was pretty weak. My partner had a Philly steak sub. Large, soft roll stuffed with shredded brisket in a tomato sauce with grilled onion. My partner said it was hard to pick up once the tomato sauce got absorbed by the bread, but very tasty. The sub came with a nice serving of potato chips. Warning on soft drinks. The place is a bar, and they charge for refills. They didn't tell me that, but it was on the bill. $2 each for a small glass of diet soda. The restaurant is in a building constructed in 1848. Some of the original brick is exposed and it's an interesting building to look at. The place was crowded on a Friday afternoon at 1:00 pm, both the bar area and restaurant were packed. Worth a visit. And they only gave each of us one napkin. With wings and the sloppy sandwich, be prepared for a bit of a mess. read more

Good atmosphere and packed with people. However, it is pricy and they are stingy. Food quality is alright, but not great. I ordered a burger, and the bun was straight out of the fridge and still very cold. The burger was somewhat insipid, though it was cooked well. Be prepared for a surprise: the eight ounce sodas, filled to the top with ice, do not include refills! You will order two or three refills and then find out that your soda cost you $8! read more

This was our next stop on our journey for Buffalo wings while in Buffalo. This place did not disappoint. This charming building was originally built in 1864. It has its own character as it sits on a block with brick row homes. We were here for wings and beer, mainly. Here's what we ordered: - French Onion Soup: onion soup topped with provolone and broiled to perfection. - Buffalo Chicken Wings - Labatt Blue No complaints here. Really good food and the service was great. The ambiance was cozy. We were told that they have live music on certain days. Would love to come see that when I'm back in town! Recommend! read more

If I'm having wings, chances are Gabriel's Gate is a top contender. I'm not sure how they do it, but their wings are consistently done right. The quality is almost on par to Bar Bill's. Each bite bursts with flavor and leaves you wanting more. Drums, flats, it doesn't matter - you won't be disappointed. They also have a full bar with some local brews! What you might be disappointed in, however, is the hit or miss service. Some servers appear to completely forget about your order (as a server, it happens, but I've experienced this often enough to include in this review). It's not a dealbreaker, but certainly something that needs to be addressed. read more

This place was the bomb to the point we went here twice! Was in Buffalo with a couple friends, and one of my friends who's local here recommend Gabriel's Gate for wings. In fact he joined us for some wings as even he hadn't been there for a while! The first time we went on a Saturday ~2.5 hours before a Sabres game and it was busy. We had to wait 30 mins for a table, but we were eventually seated. My party of 4 shared two double Buffalo medium wings, which amounted to 40 wings for the 4 of us. The wings were huge and saucy! Definitely lived up to the hype, and as my friends (who have been to Buffalo before) said, "Better than Anchor Bar!". The second time was on a Sunday after a Sabres game. Similar order of Buffalo medium wings, but my friend also recommended their french onion soup...and they had enough left to serve our table! And yes it was gucci! It's been a while since I've had a legit french onion soup, but they nailed it with the immense amount of cheese and flavourful onions in it. Service was excellent both times. This place has gotta be up there for best wings, if not already declared as such. Highly recommended for the wings connoisseur. read more

Coming from the food TV world, I knew all about the Anchor and Duff's rivalry. I didn't want any of that knowing very well the locals would steer me in the right direction to the best wings besides this infamous tale. I was looking for big and crispy and that's where I was led. Gabriel's Gate was everything I needed in a bar. Rustic with deer heads and other animals hanging on the wall, specifically surrounding the bar. I love animals but for some reason this never bothered me. Chatting with some of the locals while deciding what to get as I sat at the bar was super fun. And in addition to my order of wings, I was told Gabriel's is also known for their French onion soup. Are you KIDDING ME?! Obviously, I got a small one as French onion soup is my jam! Cheesy and tasty; this soup was amazing. The broth was super flavorful. Then came the wings., big, crispy, yet juicy. Mild sausage had a decent amount of heat. I will return back there whenever I get back to Buffalo for sure. Finally a shout out the bartenders who made me feel super at home. I'll bee line here to this location next time I head up for sure. read more

It's Monday night and we were a little hesitant on getting our buffalo wings fix from this place. But we're so glad we finally did come here. Oatmeal cookie draft beer was pretty good, wings are awesome they're fresh and well coated with the sauce. Onion rings were not oily, they were fried with the right crispness. In a town known for its wings, where it is far too easy for a classic place to lose its soul, Gabriel's Gate shines as a portal to the past and a monument to the form. There is nothing new or novel happening with the wings. I suppose you can try some other flavor sauces, but I stuck with a regular size order, hot and crispy. And that's what I got. 10 wings. 6 flats. 4 drums. Didn't ask for extra flats, but I certainly appreciated the distribution. Flats, as everyone knows, are the better wing segment. Plus it came with both carrot and celery sticks. None of those lazy baby carrots that I've seen elsewhere. Also there was a little pot of chunky, sour cream forward, blue cheese dressing. I feel like I shouldn't even have to mention those little things, but as the price of wings creeps up, many shops have started leaving out the accompaniments and charging for them individually. Times are hard these days for wing lovers. So yeah, they are hella expensive for deep fried flaps of skin and bone with a little meat attached, and tossed with hot sauce. However when wings are good, they are not only worth the price, but also the fat and caloric hit to the metabolism. A fellow next to me at the bar got a double order. 20 wings. Don't do it. For starters, nobody needs 20 wings. But more importantly, there is no way to get through that many without the last ones being cooler and less delicious. Heck, by the time I got through five, mine had cooled substantially. When hot, these were just about perfect. Crisp skin. Tender meat that pulled cleanly off the bone. Well applied sauce with a good kick that left my lips tingling, but wasn't overwhelming. Thanks to the Yelp community for steering me toward "Hot" vs "Medium" as I would typically order at other Buffalo institutions. Did I mention just how freaking charming this place is? The building and staff are simply gems! They are keeping it real, and I appreciate that more than I can say. More than anything, I am looking forward to getting back here with a wing eating partner, so I don't have to take down 10 wings all by my lonesome. Then I might be able to try some other things on the menu too... you know, like fries. Nothing fancy. Just great bar food that has held the standard while others have slipped. It's a rarity, and in my book, worthy of five stars. read more

We waited about 30-45 minutes for a table and were told anything from the fryer would be an additional 45 minutes from when we placed our order. We decided to wait and see what the hype was about. I don't eat meat very often, so I opted to just get a side salad & fries and make the fries "dirty" (buffalo sauce & bleu cheese crumbles on top, and then dipping in bleu cheese dressing & ranch dressing). IT WAS DELICIOUS. My friend ordered wings and said they were really good too. We were sat in the front of the restaurant right next to the fireplace, and the ambiance was so sweet! Was recommended Gabriel's Gate at the Buffalo Bills tailgate for the best Buffalo wings in town. We stopped by after the game and we didn't wait too long for a table. We ordered a single Buffalo wings and poutine. The food took almost an hour to come out. We also noticed other people asking about their orders. I'm not sure if this is the norm or if it was because it was game day. However, I don't think it should have taken so long for sides. Also, the waitress was a little forgetful of items asked. The food itself was standard. It wasn't anything amazing or something you're missing out on. The poutine is a good amount, but it kind of just tastes like nothing. The chicken wings were good, but damn expensive. Overall, I think this place is loved by locals, but when it comes to the food itself you're not missing out on anything. read more

After driving 30 minutes to an event nearby that was cancelled, me and my roommate walked around to find a bite to eat. The first place we went into was playing music so loud I thought I was somewhere on Chippewa on a Friday night at 1 AM (it was actually 2:15pm on a Sunday!) ... so we kept it moving and ended up here. First impressions were a bit awkward. Service wasn't rude or anything just a bit off. Especially the host. Hard to explain. He was really working hard going up and down the stairs with things though so kudos to him otherwise. The atmosphere inside wasn't really something you want to see during the day is the best way for me to put it. The floors were dirty and some flies were buzzing around. I didn't know there was outdoor seating but had I known I would have loved to sit out there because when I peaked outside it was much much nicer! So that's my tip ... sit outside (weather permitting). The menu was ok but then we were informed there was a whole section we couldn't order from. Honestly the food was the saving grace here. I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much from the atmosphere and the fact I just ordered a club sandwhich and fries but it was good and a VERY hearty serving! My fries were piled high, cooked just right, and not salty or greasy. My sandwich was a good 3 inches thick (3 slices of bread used). Plenty of meat. It was very good! And they had sourdough bread. Although the ambience didn't do it for me, i would say if you're in the neighborhood for food or even drinks (there's a bar here as well) the food will not let you down. read more

They had a lot of mounted taxidermy animals around and they did dress them up for Halloween. Our waitress was good. We ordered French onion soup and some wings. This place is located on a quieter side street but still pretty close to the downtown area. It's in a pretty old stone building. Walking in, there's a big bar area, but further in are dining tables to the back and side. There are animal heads on the walls, which they explained as coming from a museum or university and they felt that it's better to display them for education than to throw them in trash. They do have a nice selection of beer, on tap and in bottles. I ordered, needless to say, some wings. They came swimming in sauce. The wings are quite juicy. Overall, food is nice, but the service was not very welcoming. I asked them for the wifi code and was told rather rudely they don't have one for guest. read more

Not worth $15, especially since the chips are literally like Ruffles on the side. The rest of my party had the "beef on Weck" or the cottage street and they both liked it.
