My review refers to Whiehall, PA location on MacArthur Road. Mostly irganized but with the way folks rummage through the merclike a bull in a China shop. I saw kid using the center pillow display as a playground, playing tag, running through without parental guidance. It's what you get when you shop in a store selling NOS, new old stock, leftovers, buyouts and jumbled merchandise that you have to rummage through for the lower prices. It's not for everybody! I found some GREAT buys. Only negative notice was the men's assortment of cologne boxes were 50% ripped open and tested. But it's par for the area. Lots of young dudes. I was at this location and had a return, no queries, tags attached, receipt was presented and smooth transaction. Associate was helpful. My favorite associate there is Chris, he has a jovial laugh, great attitude and he is always willing to assist in any way. Great personality! read more

I'm probably being generous giving this place 2 stars. When they first opened it was ummm clean and uncluttered. Store looks a mess ...not the kind of shopping experience most people appreciate. Won't be going back. Sadly the now closed Roses was even better. read more

Lots of interesting things at Gabe's! A friend of mine has been there several times and I've been interested in going. I wasn't disappointed! The store is discount with some designer names, Bebe, Bearpaw boots, Tipsy Elves (ugly Christmas sweaters as seen on Shark Tank) & Paris Hilton, Real tree & Under Armor to name a few. Gabe's has a vast assortment of clothing for everyone in the family but much more. Housewares, Seasonal decor, shoes, gift items, fragrance, electronics, toys, gourmet items, candles and on and on! The store was neat and orderly. The restrooms were clean. The help was pleasant too. Gabe's is located in the Coventry Mall area, although you cannot access the mall from this store. - so sad the mall is, empty parking lot, not many shoppers. read more

There was glass on the ground and a worker was leaving another pile of trash in another isle as i was taking these photos. It was hard to walk and was quite honestly unsafe. If a child or someone ran through they easily could've fallen and gotten hurt. It was disgusting and the mess was clearly just neglect from the employees or one employee in general read more

As Coventry mall slowly withers away, new stores are moving in to fill the empty void. One such store is Gabe's! I came here yesterday (on its opening weekend!) and was pleasantly surprised. I can best describe it as a Ross/Tj Maxx type store with an unexpected twist of some grocery/pet/household items. The store is clean, well organized, and very diverse (almost to the point where you look at something and say who would wear that?). For those who wear plus sizes, you're in luck! My grandmother and sister were excited at the variety they found in plus sizes, including reasonably priced swimwear! The store is currently where Sears once was and there was tons to look at! Clothes for women, juniors, men, boys, accessories, books, shoes, housewares, and yes even some grocery type items (household cleaners, body wash, pet treats, etc). The prices were pretty good, so I'll probably come back again! (We ended up there about 1/2 an hour before they closed). read more

Been shopping at Gabriel Brother's in WV since 1995 (college days). Now they split and it's called Gabe's I was beyond excited to have it near my home in Pottstown, PA which is still a 20 minute drive from Reading. After today I have decided to call it splits. Company policy can really ruin a Shopper's experience and sometimes these "policies" don't mean much except to be burdensome to the shopper and laborious to the employees. I had a $8 return which I drove 20 minutes to do though technically it would be an exchange for another item plus possibly more shopping. I browsed the store with my arm full of shorts and blouses only to find a CLOSED Dressing room. May I add that this was the same scene 30 days ago when I visited and had to dump a pile of vacation clothes on a nearby shelf because I couldn't try them on. Any way I got inline with my exchange, the one single cashier working rang the receipt and immediately called for a "manager" now backing up the line as we waited. I asked her if there was a problem and she said the items that I'm returning was OVER 30 days. I said no they weren't she said yes they technically are because I purchased them on 5/15 at 4:15pm and now it was 6/15 at 6:30 pm so they were 2hrs and 15 minutes past the 30 day mark. "OH MY GOSH" it blows my mind that anyone can buy a $500 bag at Macy's and return it 60 days past "due" and not be questioned but this cheap five and dime store has a ridiculous policy like this. Thirty days is thirty days I have no problem with that but now we are counting minutes and seconds. All this while ur stupid fitting room is closed and I have to drive 40 minutes RT just to figure out if something fits or not. Miss "manager" shows up with her head scarf on as if we woke her up and her eye lashes looking like she had two feather boas glued to her eye lids. Why? did we also throw out the dress code? The store was disheveled, empty shelves and just looked unkept. I have to say that was surprising as I have never seen this store looking like that before. I made a decision that I have to come up from these type of store and at least migrate to Kohl's, Macy's or online shopping. The driving, waiting in line with one cashier, disorganized store, no dressing room and archaic policies just turned me off. Rummaging at Gabes on a weekend used to be fun but after today not so much! read more

Oh my god this is the bottom of all stores gross floors dirty. It's almost like a bad Walmart.

I love coming here for the great deals. My daughter only likes a certain pants brand that they sell here for cheap. I always find deals and they have a great clearance section. When I'm by myself I take plenty of time to scan the racks and get the best deals possible. The downfall of this place is the staff and clientele. I am always creeped out by their staff or even customers who come in here. I keep my kids close. Every time I come here I have a very uncomfortable encounter with a staffs person or customer. I guess it's the risk you take for the great deals. Also the staff and customers all smoke right outside the doors so you're hit with cigarette smoke as you're walking in and it travels into the store. My hope is that management would work with their staff to enforce certain rules. Overall, I recommend this store for their deals, just be prepared for some interesting characters. read more

I wanted to make a return of a few items I had purchased 31 days ago. I am busy and Gabe's is not close to me. I figured I would at least get a store credit for what I paid since I had my receipt. I was told by the manager that I would get the sale price which turned out to be between 10-50% of what I paid in a store credit. His reason was that it was over 30 days. Really? Who ever is the manager of that store needs to get fired it is a hot mess stuff all over the floor sizes mixed corporate needs to get there and fix that place before it turns into Walmart or a thrift store. If the manager decides to read this from my management experience the first 30 feet of your store should always be pleasing to the eye and your feature department which is your juniors and women's should be nice and neat and sized. read more

Completely obnoxious to make a long drive to come to a store only to find that they decided to lock the doors 25 minutes before the advertised closing time. Ridiculous. If you say you are open until 10pm then stay open until 10pm otherwise you are falsely advertising hours of operation which is something the Better Business Bureau would probably like to hear about. This was my 4th trip to this cheap store and will be my last. read more

This used to be my favorite store. It was clean. It had quality merchandise. I never had a problem making a return. I was so excited to be going today to do some Christmas shopping. I had a return to make. It was 2 pair of men's jeans that cost $9.99 a pair. The girl said since it was over 30 days she could only give me 50 cents a pair! I said I've had that happen where you get whatever the sales price is IF you don't have a receipt. Not only did I have a receipt, I did try to return them. It was a couple months ago. I stood I line for about 45 minutes socially distanced with my mask on. When I got to the counter I was told they weren't accepting returns at that time. If it were just the return (which does frustrate me) I would have still went back because of the quality of the merchandise. It's the polar opposite now. Last Christmas I left with 3 full carts. Today I spent $25 on wrapping paper and boxes. What a bummer! What went so wrong? I'll never go there again. read more

I go to the one in Montgomeryville but that's not a selection on here. I'm sure they're all just as good, though. A great selection for men's clothing and outdoor/car stuff. I got 6 men's shirts among a few kids toys and spent less than $60! read more

I stopped in last week with no expectations but was incredibly impressed with this new Gabe's location. Great variety of clothes for all style preferences and a wide range of sizes. I was looking for business casual work clothes but there are plenty more formal/casual for all purposes. Many items are from no-name brands, but the prices are so good that it's absolutely worth trying something new. There are some "trendier" brand names such as American Eagle. It's a bit of a jungle since there are so many items, however all the racks are very well organized and uncluttered. The fitting rooms were so clean and there were many stalls. I left with two dresses and a pair of American Eagle pants for only $32. Workers were friendly too. I wish I'd come earlier than an hour before closing since there were so many things I wanted to try. I'll absolutely be returning soon. read more

We looked online and noticed that Gabe's took Apple Pay, then when we went to check out the lady told us that they didn't have it set up. Like the door and the counter both had stickers that they accepted Apple Pay and here they didn't. Very Disappointed read more

Gabe's is great for Nike clothes for my boys. It's pretty messy and unorganized but, I go for the prices. I do wish they had more of a selection and that the staff were more friendly. As far as accessories and toys, they seem to have quite a selection read more
