Out with the old, in with the new. Gabe's has officially opened up in the former Old Time Pottery space in Ocoee. I believe this is the 5th location here in Florida. I had never heard of Gabe's until they took over this spot but they have been around since the 60's and started in West Virginia. They have locations throughout Eastern US and acquired Old Time Pottery a couple of years ago. You will notice many items with Old Time Pottery labeling which is a little confusing. The store feels massive inside, even though it is likely the same square footage as OTP. You can view all 4 walls walking in. Overall, it reminded me of a Ross crossed with a Walmart but cheaper. They have a variety of departments at inexpensive prices. Shoes, clothing, indoor and outdoor home decor, kitchen, household organization, rugs, pet supplies, electronics and toys. They also had name brand items like Nike and Ryka at very low prices. It's a bit overwhelming because it is so massive but I appreciate the variety all in one store. Staff could not be found anywhere on the floor so if you have questions, you likely need to go to the checkout area. I didn't buy anything today so not sure how efficient the checkout lanes are but plan to come back when I have more time. read more

Gabe's is a new retail chain that bought Old Time Pottery and recently converted some OTP Florida locations into Gabe's. It is a large retail outlet similar to Marshall's, Ross or Beall's Home Centric. They have great prices and carry closeouts from many other retail chains. The Orlando area location is Ocoee which is at the corner of West Colonial and Maguire road. Just a few blocks off the SR 50 exit on the FL Turnpike. I noticed brands from Kohl's, Target, Loft, Ann Taylor, Lucky's, Bebe, Lands End, Lane Bryant, Banana Republic, Gap and many others carried by Ross and Marshall's. The brand names on tags are sometimes blacked out or the brand name may be cut out of the tag. I did see Adidas, Reebok and Avis but I did not see designer brands. They have many departments in this store. Clothing, luggage, purses, shoes, accessories and some personal care. Bed and bath, home decor, patio, kitchen, rugs and food items. They have clearance signs in all departments. They have a good rewards program called 'unbelievable Rewards.' Gabe's is discontinuing their text program in Sept 2025 however customers can get alerts and deals through the Gabe's app. I would recommend signing up for rewards beforehand or at the register checkout. You get 25 points for signing up and every $50 in points generates a $5 coupon. Coupons expire in 30 days. Coupons can be used towards clearance merchandise. The service was friendly both on the sales floor and at checkout. I purchased Vera Wang, Croft and Barrow, Loft, Bandolino, Land and Sea, A New Day (Target), Banana Republic and Hanes multipacks. 6 tops, two pants and two intimates for $40. I earned a $5 coupon on my first shopping trip. One thing about me is I love a good bargain spot! I used to love going into Old Time Pottery and just shopping around. Let me tell you, I have NOT been able to shut up about Gabe's! I signed up for their reward system and already secured my first $5 off and I can already I'm going to be here pretty often. Similar to a TJ/Ross/DD's/Home Goods, this store has everything you need and much of what you don't need to! Their clearance section is vast with a lot of everything. I got two shirts the other day for $3 each brand new with tags. Even their non clearance items are amazingly priced. Things are good quality with a slew of brand names like Ann Taylor, Nike, and more. All for less than $12-$20! When I went to check out, the customer service didn't give off "bargain mart" rather more like target service. Smiling faces and friendly hands eager to help. I have bought several things for myself and other members of my family. The prices are amazing and I have found some really unique items. I saw Gabe's randomly while in the shopping center and was intrigued because last time I remembered, it was Old Time Pottery. Turns out it's like a Ross, Burlington, and TJMaxx all in one. The store is huge and very organized when I went. I wasn't looking for anything in particular but left with some really good deals on workout clothes. The prices were very fair and a lot of the clothes were inexpensive. Come with patience when in the clothing sections are items are arranged by size and not necessarily style or type. There was a lot of variety and something for everyone. I will definitely go back. Unlike the other discount stores, Gabe's offers a reward program and my purchase already allowed me to use rewards next time I visit. read more

Let me start by saying that not every place is for everyone, I get that. Old Time Pottery, which Gabe's bought out and converted to their brand was a great place filled with mostly housewares, indoor and outdoor decor and holiday decorations. It was ideal and we loved it. Yesterday we went into Gabe's for the first and most likely last time and it was overwhelming disappointing. What was once a store that provided plenty of things for our home is now one that is 75%(?) clothing. And we're not talking quality there either. We walked the store looking and hoping to find a reason to be optimistic but came away empty. I don't understand the logic of a place like this less than a mile away from a Walmart Supercenter unless the quality of the merchandise is below even Walmart. I purchased a sandal for my daughter, and the strap broke immediately when she tried it on -- it was never worn and still brand new. I went back hoping to exchange it for the same pair, but the manager said it wasn't their responsibility and refused to assist. Very disappointing experience and poor customer service. read more
