I have read some of the past reviews and I can say that these negative reviews are from years ago. I emailed them about 2 specie palm trees and they immediately emailed me back the next day, and have the best pricing in central Florida. When I arrived staff was very helpful and they had a huge selection of plants and trees. The gentleman even offered to let me pick my palms out and helped me load them into my truck which I appreciated. The ladies in the office were super nice and fun to talk to!! I visited my brother in Orlando, Florida, recently. He had hired Royal Landscape Nursery of Gotha, Florida, to construct a retaining wall for him in August 2018. The wall began to come apart only a few months later. My brother found the steel pins, designed to interconnect the blocks making up the wall, when he dug a hole to construct a flagpole near by; the pins had been simply buried in the ground, rather than used to reinforce in the wall. The result of gross carelessness, and lack of any conscientious response to my brother's communications, can be seen in the photo. Numerous attempts by my brother to resolve the matter have been completely futile, so my brother is currently suing this business. read more

They were servicing our apartment complex, Ashford at Altamonte Springs, where they fell a tree in the middle of a full parking lot. They totaled my boyfriends car and still have not paid a dime. We have had to pay out of pocket and this is unacceptable. PS. They still cut down trees in full parking lots! Apparently they really don't care how many cars they ruin. read more

They installed pavers in our driveway and edged it with concrete that cracked and broke apart within 9 months. The owner came and looked at it, blamed it on the lawn mower guy but said he'd have it replaced. Waited 2 months nothing. Called the office. The person said she'd have the owner get back to us. This place was very unusual. There are no associates to help you outside at all. You have to go into the little trailer and ask for help. So I did and asked for plants that like a lot of water as I was planting by a downspout and the area is very wet. Well, the lady was very nice but flips her screen around and starts searching on Google. I could have done that at home. Disappointing. The WORST part about this place is that there are NO PRICES MARKED. You have to get a price list from inside the trailer and carry it around with you. Well I don't know the names of all these plants. I would have been better off rolling the dice at Lowes and hoping for a good associate. Save your time and go somewhere else. Sorry. I love helping the small business owner, but not when they are just confusing and not helpful to the customer. February, 2017: Thought I would give this place another try. I called asking if they had specific trees I was looking for. The lady did not know if they had the tree or what type it was. Ok. Fine. I asked if they had several flats of ivy. She did not know if they had ivy. Ok. I'm sorry, but how are you a landscape retailer and not know if you even have ivy. She said she would have someone call me back, they were all on break. It was an awful experience working with them...simply terrible and aggravating. I could not believe all the bad reviews online, but now I do. First, manager drives Hummer with plates "SOD MNY", so that tells you their best interest. Steve promises to do everything, but they are more interested in doing the job fast than fulfilling promises. Steve was never on-site and was ticked off to come over to check on things, that is if you could get a hold of him. They never return calls and have an excuse for everything. Some details: - they promised I could change plans up to last minute, but that was bogus. - after a number of calls, they never told me when they were starting the job...just showed up one day. I was caught by surprise. - couldn't order my first paver of choice. I got another on Steve's promise to blend pavers, but that never happened. He had excuses. Steve also complained to me that he couldn't get a hold of me about ordering new pavers, and that set the job back. He never tried to call; I just wasn't home the 5 minutes he was on site. - planted zoysia without ever killing old grass. Steve said their cutter would take care of everything. I have zoysia full of weeds now; I was naive to believe that. - They had the nerve to put a lien on my house. Sure, it's legal in Florida, but to me, it's a sign of "We'll do a crappy job and leave. If you don't want to pay us, see you in court." I could go on. I usually take bad reviews with a grain of salt, but believe them all for Royal. read more

Brutal experience. I purchased several pallets of St. Augustine sod from Royal's outlet in Gotha, paid another $80 in delivery charges to drive it 3.2 miles to my house, and personally installed it the same day in an area that had been completely cleared and prepped. Within three weeks, invasive Bermuda grass (which will eventually kill the St. Augustine) appeared throughout the resodded area. My lawn maintenance company noticed it after three weeks and immediately suggested that Royal should remove and replace it. Within the next few days, destructive sod moths appeared, only in the area with the new sod. In other areas from the same delivery, we've seen crabgrass, more Bermuda, and a noticeable lack of uniform growth despite continual watering. When contacted, exactly 32 days after the purchase, Royal said there was no warranty on the sod. They blamed the sod wholesaler. They blamed Mother Nature. They blamed me. They blamed my yard guy. I've lived in Florida for 18 years and dealt with unscrupulous roofers, sketchy contractors and devious auto repair shops, but this was BY FAR the worst retail experience of my life. The response was insulting and I STRONGLY recommend looking elsewhere for any gardening needs. You'll not only be wasting time and money, but your own sweat equity. I'm facing the very real possibility of having to strip it, somehow dispose of the corrupted sod, and starting all over again. When somebody says in derogatory fashion, "I would not hire those clowns to mow my lawn," I know what they mean, quite literally. Prepare to be disappointed, frustrated and furious. Please don't buy anything from them. We bought a tree that was labeled a tangelo tree took two years to have fruit and it is pink grapefruit. My husband can't eat grapefruit , we would of never bought a &70 plus dollar tree we couldn't use. Have asked to them to switch it out no response two times. Not a good business practice. read more

I moved to Florida 4 years ago and I've been looking for a Landscape Nursery ever since. I loved visiting Royal Nursery. All the staff I met were extremely kind and helpful. Their prices were amazing on many sizes of plants and trees. German went out of his way to help me by driving me around on their golf cart to look at trees and then when I found a beautiful 15 gallon Weeping Bottlebrush he wrapped the container up in plastic and carefully set it in my SUV to bring home. Bought a half pallet of zoysia grass. When taking pieces off the pallet they all crumbled apart except one piece. This was a waste of spending $102.35. Buyers beware they have a business model that is indicated on the receipt "all products sold as is". Which they enforce. Don't do business with this company. Royal Landscaping just completed a landscape project for me including widening and putting pavers on my sidewalk, as well as landscaping and installing schubs and plants on the front of my home. I can not tell you how delighted I am with the finished product and wish to commend the installers as they were the most hardworking group I have ever watched. They were friendly and hardly ever took a break unless I gave them a snack or drink. They were very accommodating to making small changes as I watched them install the plants. Thanks also to Brandon who designed the project and made helpful suggestions to me as we worked on the final design and choice of plants. I would rate this company as the worst customer service that I have ever received. After completion of our pool project, we purchased four pallets of St. Augustine grass from Royal Landscape Nursery mid-April. Our landscaper along with a few neighbors recommended this company to us but it was a costly mistake. After waiting five weeks for the replacement grass to marry in to our existing yard, it did not. We properly watered and cared for the new grass and our landscaper concluded that we received a bad batch of grass. Instead of sending a representative to look at my yard, I was asked to send photos of my yard. Upon review, I was told via email and phone that nothing could be done. I was reminded that "all sales are final" and one of the owners said there was no way to determine if we properly cared for our new grass. Now we have to pay for expensive treatment of this bad grass and if that fails, then we have to replace it. I'm very disappointed in their lack of concern for my grass issue and I'm more disappointed that we waisted our money buying bad sod from Royal Landscape Nursery in Gotha, Fl. At the very least, they should have come out to review my grass and treat it since it was purchased from their nursery. But I received nothing but excuses and insinuations that we did not properly care for our grass. However, all of the shrubs that we purchased from another nursery have been growing beautifully with no issues. read more

If timeliness and honesty is not important to you than Royal Landscape Nursery is the company for you. What was suppose to be a 4 to 6 week lead time ended up being a 12 week lead time with a host of excuses, if you could even get a straight answer out of anyone. On top of the extremely long wait time and lack of communication, they didn't order the correct size pavers. We were in need of both thick and thin pavers and they only ordered thick. They installed the thick pavers and it did end up working, but the patio is higher than we expected and we had to purchase more dirt and mulch than we originally planned to offset the height versus the rest of our yard. The patio is beautiful, although there are high and low points so when it rains there are areas that puddle. Also note, make sure you measure the patio before they finish. We kept looking at the patio and thought it looked small. When my husband went out to measure it it was indeed short on both the length and the width. When he addressed this with the installers they contacted the main office and they sent a gentleman out with a measuring wheel. Now for the measuring wheel to be accurate you must go as straight as possible. He was weaving all over and even went over the edge. He said they were within tolerances and my husband said no and brought out a tape measure and measured it with him there. The gentleman said that when you order a 400 square foot patio you actually only get approximately 375 square feet of finished product and the rest is considered waste (cut, damaged pavers, etc). My husband told him we were not informed of that and that we ordered to have installed a 400 square foot patio and that is what we are expecting. They finally agreed and installed the remaining pavers. And let me tell you, they order way more than needed because had they not given us the size patio we ordered we would have had even more pavers leftover than we do. Oh and the moment they finished the installation they were calling us to receive payment. Funny how they are not considerate with the customers when planning, installing, etc but the moment they are done expect prompt payment. We are pleased with the final product, however, it was after a lot of aggravation, arguing, and work on our end. read more
