This review is from 2018 - I am sure a lot has changed:) I used Gab-it-out last summer to organize garage before going back to work after summer break. They did a wonderful job of going through things, putting things in places and offering suggestions on different ways to store things. I am a teacher with many materials to go through, by the end of the second day the frustration and annoyance from whole team was very evident. What started as an organized book by category sorting ended with a general box of books thrown together in to non-specific categories. However, after they left when I continued the process myself using areas they had organized I was shocked to discover that they had not wiped off or cleaned the shelves or containers before putting organized materials back on shelves (garage 5 plus years of dirt/grim). They did a wonderful job of organizing but I am continued to be reminded every time I go to find something how absolutely filthy everything was after they left last summer. Knowing that I have to go back to remove and than redo all the work I had already paid for. This has made enjoying the organized space that was left filthy makes the end result much harder to enjoy, I have not yet had the time or energy to remove everything again and clean. When and if I do I will again be reminded of the disappointment felt, the money and time I spent to use their services. read more

I highly recommend the Gab It Out organizers. Owner Linda and a colleague Laura were enthusiastic, attentive, and really listened well. They worked quickly and efficiently. It helped so much that Linda offered an initial free on-site consultation to learn more about me and my situation and evaluate my problem areas in person. On our later appointment date and on their own initiative, they brought with them a plastic organizer and 3-tier metal storage shelving which worked perfectly for my needs. They helped my family pack up our lives and move from a 4 bedroom condo in Chicago to a 5 bedroom home in the suburbs. I've often read reviews that said things like, "I've never posted a review before, but I had to now because this thing is awesome!" or "This is my first review ever because this place is the best!!" And I always thought - that... is... hilarious... Under no circumstance could I ever imagine having an experience so unbelievably spectacular; it would actually inspire me to sit down, take the time, and tell the world about it. NEVER. Well never say never, my friends, because today is that day! I had a HUGE task ahead of me... With a very limited budget, I needed a strong team to swoop in and help a family of 5 move into a large 5BR/3 story home. I needed them to unpack every box... Put away every dish, sock and picture frame... And then disappear as if the family had lived the house for months. And - HERE'S THE KICKER - they had less than 2 days to do it. I called and interviewed FIFTEEN different organizational companies in the Chicago area. A couple of them were a complete waste of time, but most of them were very good! Strong references, excellent experience, very trustworthy. Call after call, interview after interview, I found myself overwhelmed with choices - how was I going to know WHICH company was THE BEST one? Then I reached Company #12. GAB IT OUT. From the moment I spoke to Linda, I was ready to put a ring on it. Her enthusiasm and excitement for her job were contagious! Her team has been together forever and they all love what they do. Linda told me she and her team are FUN, FAST, AND FANTASTIC -- so I was SOLD! For some silly reason, I still interviewed the remaining 3 companies - but everyone else paled in comparison. GAB IT OUT was the only way to go. As the big day grew closer, I was afraid maybe I had hyped them up too much in my mind? I mean... could ANYONE really be that good? YUP! For an extremely reasonable rate, Linda, her sister and 2 other organizational wizards stormed through the3400 sq. ft. house and: -Unpacked, broke down, and recycled every box -Organized every drawer, cabinet and closet -And arranged every sofa, chair and bookcase in - are you ready for this - SEVEN HOURS. SEVEN FREAKING HOURS! They worked about 4 hours on Day 1, and 3 hours on Day 2. Can you believe that??? Linda was 100% right: They were SUPER Fun. LIGHTNING Fast. AND FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC. I cannot say enough good things! So if you are looking for someone to help you with your stuff - look no further. Hey - I already did all the work for you! I wish I could give 10 stars to the Gab It Out team! We started working together 18 months ago when my husband and I decided we wanted to prepare to downsize. We had a big house with numerous closets/storage areas that we'd been in for 25 years and we knew we needed help. Even though we didn't know where we would eventually move to, Linda suggested we start then and tackle each area of the house working from the basement up. We followed her advice and it was not overwhelming at all. They have such an effective process for paring down, purging, decluttering, it was actually fun and rewarding! The ladies are super-efficient, super-fun and non-judging. They roll up their sleeves and get down to business. They get rid of your stuff for you, and let me tell you, that is a godsend. We could not believe how much they could accomplish in so little time. Ultimately, we did find a condo to move to, half the square footage of our home, and when we did we were prepared. Our home was basically staged because of all the work we had done. As we were finishing purging, they suggested they just start packing the items we used less frequently. Voila! We didn't have to hire movers to do that and these ladies were WAY faster than any movers I've ever worked with. They also unpacked after our move and organized the new place at the same time. Over the course of several years, our garage became a storage facility. We have not parked our cars in our garage in more than three years. My wife and I promised each other that we'd "work on the garage" every weekend, and years passed. We finally waved the red flag and decided to bring in the pros. These folks are amazing! They provide a "colonoscopy" for cluttered spaces! :-) I retired a few years ago and wanted to transform two spaces in our home. I had a very cluttered "office" space that had become a catch-all and I had a basement area that had become the repository of too many tools that were no longer needed etc. I wanted to turn the office into a hobby space and the basement into an organized woodshop. In two very reasonably-priced days Linda, Meredith and Laura helped me get the "clutter-monkey" off my back. They use a triage method. We pulled everything out into three sortings: keep; donate; & recycle/trash. They take care of getting the 'donate' and 'recycle/trash' to the proper places and then make sure that the 'keep' items each have a new permanent home in the new space. "Everything has a place" is their mantra. By sticking to that principle you fend off re-cluttering. (No more not finding what I need which leads to buying it again and then having two things I can't find!) They are fun to work with and very efficient. They keep you involved and help you through the triage. It's a great process that leaves you feeling relieved and ready to use your old space in new and creative ways. They came in and guided me through a thorough clean out and reorg. They also did a side closet while they were here. They are unstoppable organizers. Wonderful! These lovely ladies saved me and made it stress free. The job was so overwhelming for me that it would have taken weeks if not months, but these gals came in and organized my ENTIRE house after a move in 3 days. A year later & I still know where everything is. In fact, I think I'm going to have them come back for a fall cleaning!
