    Special Spa Pedicure in progress...

A monthly Manicure & Pedicure is a treat for myself. I've been looking for a new Nail Salon and happened upon this establishment while headed to Publix. I had no appointment and was able to be seen in less than 5mins. The price was pretty good $25 for the Pedicure and $15 for the Manicure. I don't ask for much at the salon but "Shiny Buff" which a process where they sand and buff nails to glass shine. I'm not a polish type of guy but "Shiny Buff" is closest I'll get. Would've gave 5 stars but they didn't shine me up the way I like but so far pretty good for my first time.

    Very disappointing every time.

Every time I come here they rush and do a terrible job (see pic) and over charge. Don't come here. I've given them a few chances so I'll be going somewhere else where my nails qualify for a fill in. None of my nails done here are worthy of a fill in.

I discovered that I had broken a nail on the way home from work. I called my regular nail tech but it was her off day and everyone else in the shop was busy. I had plans later in the evening that I did not want to miss and I was not about to attend with a missing nail. Ladies I know you understand where I'm coming from lol. I pulled into a shopping center to park. I used my Yelp app to locate the closest nail salon since I was pressed for time. Lo and behold this salon was right in the shopping center 1 minute away. I glanced over the reviews and cringed. Then I thought hey I'm only having one nail repaired surely there should be no problem with that. Le' Sigh.. Upon entering I wasn't immediately greeted, just stared at for a minute while everyone was working. Finally a lady working right beside the front desk peered up and asked how she could help me. I stated I just needed the one nail fixed and she replied ok. After I realized I was still standing waiting for more words to come out of her mouth but nothing was happening, I decided to find a seat. At this point I felt very awkward. First impressions mean a lot. The front desk was blocking my entire view of the back of the shop. When I got up to choose my polish I made sure to do a scan of the room. The décor was outdated. Chipped and half painted furniture. The waiting chairs were uncomfortable but the salon chair was comfy and the huge spa chairs appeared to be comfy. The nail polish selection was very small. After 5 minutes of looking for the right pink to match my other pink nails, I gave up and just chose one. I was ready to get the hell out of there. I assume the nail techs saw the many faces I couldn't help but make while I was looking at the polishes because they started laughing and when I looked up they were looking directly at me lol. After about a 15 minute wait an elderly lady came to get me. I thought she was escorting me to someone else but she escorted me to her station. I wondered if this was the dear elderly woman I had read about in another review. I dropped my head and said a quick prayer. To wrap up my review, the repaired nail came out much larger than my other nails and the shape was warped. My daughter referred to it as looking "like a tooth" lol. Not only that but in addition to over drilling on my nail bed to where I was in pain, she also drilled over my skin around the nail quite a few times that it drew a little blood and I cringed in pain and pulled away. The pink did not match up well at all but that was my choosing. I could not wait until it was over. I soaked my finger in alcohol once I got home. The next day I woke up with my finger still in pain so much that I had to take a Tylenol. I immediately scheduled an apt with my regular nail tech that day to have the nail removed. I should have read over the reviews thoroughly first. Lesson learned.

My nails were perfect as usual. They were able to perfectly duplicate the design picture I bought in.

It was empty besides two other people getting their nails done but I said sure. Two women walked in at 5pm and they told both of them they couldn't do them because they're closed. They closed in an hour and one lady just needed one nail fix. I thought that was a bit disappointing to say you're closed when you weren't. Lily did a great job on my feet and took her time. They're still holding up. However, the girl that did my manicure did a mediocre job at French gel tips. I told her I wanted short, square nails but longer than my nails. She didn't put any fake nail on me at all she just painted on my own nails. I don't know if she didn't paint over the entire nail or seal it properly but there were what appeared to be bubbles under the polish. It's been a week and the gel had chipped and broke off my nail. If I'm gonna lay $100 for my nails this polish needs to stay on a maximum of 2 weeks and they chipped three days later. It's clean inside and really nice. There's so many spaces to sit and get your nails done and so many spots for pedicure. They offer different tiers for the pedicure.

--- Draft…read moreReview/Complaint: On 8/22/25, I received a basic manicure with clear polish from Kay at Castle Nails. After leaving, I noticed that old product had been left on my nails. I immediately returned to the salon and explained the issue to the front desk assistant. He spoke with Kay (who was with another client) in their language instead of addressing me directly. Eventually, another employee told me that Kay said my nail beds were "too thin" to remove the product and that she would file it off "next time." Kay never explained this to me while performing the service, which would have been the professional thing to do. Instead, I paid $50 for a basic mani/pedi and was left with nails that were not properly done. I also want to note that while the pedicure I received from another employee was excellent, this is not the first time I've experienced rudeness or unprofessional behavior from Kay. I've noticed she treats other clients warmly, but not me. For that reason, I will not be returning to Castle Nails, nor will the people I referred. Clients deserve respect, professionalism, and transparency. Unfortunately, that was not my experience with Kay

Elan is located inside of a quiet shopping plaza in Duluth. Although there's parking for everyone, you may have to walk down a sidewalk or two to get to your preferred biz, but you'll make it. My first impression was 5-stars because it's truly a beautiful salon! Bright with natural lighting and fabulously decorated, it definitely passed the visual vibe checks. I was welcomed in by two young ladies at the front counter who quickly set me up at a pedicure station. There are three parts to the salon and I was in the middle section and it was so quiet, even with other customers in the area. I hate that I didn't get my nail tech's name, but she was so great. I went with the 3rd tier pedicure which including a hot towel, scrub, etc. etc. No corners were cut, I was so relaxed! I opted for a pretty bubblegumish pink for my toes and she really made my feet look fabulous and renewed. After my pedicure package, gel removal and tip, I walked out paying under $100 and in this economy and with the level of service and class, I took that as a deal. Such a fantastic experience, I'm so glad that I chose Elan and will think of them when I'm back in the area!

She is thorough, meticulous with her work and just an overall beautiful and kind woman. The salon is very clean, bright and relaxing and the services are comparable to other salons in the area and the prices are affordable ($50 for the basic gel pedicure with add in options ie rose petals and coconut milk in the water etc if desired for an upgrade). My pedicure always lasts 4-6 weeks and in really busy times it will even last 8 weeks. I highly recommend this place!
