    Casa Magoni - Wine taste!

Casa Magoni is something else entirely. By the time we got here we'd already done Monte Xanic,…read moreBruma, and Vena Cava, so I thought I knew what wine tasting in the Valle looked like. I did not. The grounds are stunning. You're on an active working orchard with views in every direction, and dropped right in the middle of it is the most enormous oak tree I have ever seen. That tree, you guys. It's MASSIVE. Ancient. The whole property is built around it, and drinking wine in its shade was straight up surreal. There were dogs wandering around. Families on picnic blankets. A live band playing under the tree. People dancing on their own. It's magical. The wine was freaking delicious. The charcuterie was good. The service was good. Nothing stood out either way on the service, but with everything else going on, I genuinely didn't pay attention. This isn't a quiet, learn-about-your-tannins kind of tasting. It's a hangout, and it's the kind of afternoon you'll be talking about long after you go home. A must on any Valle trip. Pro tip: come hungry, come ready to hang out, and come ready to feel like you're in a fairy tale, because that tree. Just sayin'!

We bought 1 white, and 2 reds to bring back to CA with us. We can't wait to share this with our families! Unfortunately we went through the San Ysidro border crossing back to Southern CA and found out that the max limit is 1 liter of alcohol (about 1 to 2 standard bottles) ever 31 days. We bought bottles of wine from 2 other wineries as well. Fortunately, US Customs and Border Protection let us go with a warning and did not confiscate our wines!

Perched on a cliff above the Pacific with nothing but open ocean in front of you, this is honestly one of the most iconic spots in all of Valle and I will die on that hill (pun very much intended). Getting there is part of the experience. You park at the bottom, hop on a shuttle, and ride up a winding dirt road to the bar. The drivers are so fun and honestly the whole shuttle vibe is its own thing. People are dancing, singing, already in a great mood before they even arrive. Instant friends every time. Once you're up top, the drinks are flowing and the sunset views are absolutely unreal. I haven't done a full meal here but the chips alone deserve their own Yelp page. Homemade, crunchy, covered in cheese. I could have just eaten those and been completely happy. Oh and one more thing, and I'm being completely serious: please go to the bathroom. Even if you don't need to. Especially if you don't need to. The views from the restroom might be better than some restaurants I've paid full price to eat at. Bar Bura is one of those places I'll keep coming back to no matter how many times I've been. If you haven't gone yet, fix that immediately.

Good food and we love the friendly staff. I would definitely recommend it to my friends & family.read more

Everything started great, they even had my favorite beer Schmidtwick's. The food was delish and presented well. Our server was attentive and kind. The place was neat and clean, great for a mtg... The general manager came over and chitchatted with our table. I was the one who called the meeting, I chose the place via Yelp reviews. However, when the GM found out it was all three of our first time he proceeded to hand out his card. The guy that met me there was handed one, then my son who lives in Irvine was handed one. However, when I reached my hand out, he hesitated. I told him we don't live together (speaking of my son who was sitting next to me) and he started to hand it to me, but then pulled it back. He informed me it's in case we come back... funny, our topic of conversation that day was how hard it was for women growing up in my era and working their way up the ladder... how times have changed. Upon leaving, my guest laughed and said his wife would've gone ballistic at how the only woman at the table was treated. The GM appeared to look like we were the same age. I was quite insulted by his behavior. I hope something can be learned for my honest review. I did get a card, but I don't think I'll be back.
