Very hip place in TJ. This review is for the drinks, service, and overall experience. As you can see from the pictures and as others have mentioned, the decor is fantastic. From the paintings and furniture through the other details (even the restrooms) we had a fantastic night cap here. The servers and bartenders took excellent care of us. The drinks menu has great variety and creative combinations. We opted to let the bartenders exercise their craft and each requested a drink with our liquors of choice. Everything came out excellent. Absolutely phenomenal spot in Tijuana, and easy to get to. This is elevated cuisine, very similar to the high-end Valle de Guadalupe food scene right now. Service was absolutely outstanding, and you'll find the wine list to be quite advanced, both in format and content. Delicious appetizers, great man dishes and just a KOOL vibe that will make you want to come back to this spot. Highly recommended, and be sure to make reservations if you go on a weekend. read more

Came here on a Saturday evening ,good location,valet parking but the customer service is not the greatest all waiters were talking and on their phone . First of all just one of the waiters was friendly not ours ,the menu comes out of a clipboard (not impressive) not a lot of options if you dont eat pork this is not a place for you , asked one of the waiters if he can add cheese to my quesadilla he said just NO which I found it funny but rude ,the drinks were good the food was good I Had the risotto with chicken which I dont think indigenist back in the day did that lol . Definitely if you like upscale,trendy, hipster things go here also waaaaay over priced to be in tijuana you can stay in san diego and have better food,drinks and customer service for the same price total cost for 2 entrees and drinks $120dlls (2 people) . read more

My friend suggested we dine here on a Saturday night in Tijuana. The place has a really cool vibe and great decor. Many of the items on the menu are not what you would expect to find in Tijuana. I was highly impressed with all of our selections. Very unique flavor combinations that were absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend for a fine dining out in Tijuana. We were staying at a new hotel nearby and walked over. Area has new high end high rise residences and shops under construction. read more

Fabulous drinks, beautiful bar and seating, super solicitous staff, gluten free food options, huge wine selection - amazing spot!!

I will keep my "Quatro Estrellas" ratings for 52 Kool on this third visit, despite certain glitches, which I will briefly reference herein without providing a full follow up review. First, there was the lighting---it was blazing brightly enough for a three-ring circus, or a "cocina" or a "factoria". Turn the lights down, por favor! The service by Josue was kind as ever. I have followed him from three prior restaurants, but on this visit, he failed to pour the wine [Bodegas Henri Lurton Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon from the Valle de San Vicente] a few times---he knows that is important to me. I will chalk it up to perhaps his being tired, for on Saturdays, Josue comes on duty at 5:00 p.m. after a full day of schooling. The oenologist from the vineyard, Lourdes Martinez Ojeda, worked for ten years in Bordeaux [Margaux] at the Chateau Brane-Cantenac, so she knows what she is doing at Bodegas Henri Lurton here in Mexico. The restaurant does not serve bread with meals, but Josue sent a staff member out to a nearby store to provide me with bread, which they warmed, and that extraordinary effort [not requested] was most appreciated. The menu is printed on a series of sheets affixed to a clipboard, which is not an attractive presentation at all. When I arrive at 52 Kool, I always look at the specials identified on the blackboard ["pizarron" in Spanish] hanging by the open kitchen, but I was disappointed that "Rack de Codero" [Rack of Lamb] was again one of the specials, which was the same special on my prior visit. The "specials" menu must be market driven, and not be an immobile statement written "in blood". Otherwise, they are not "special"! The restaurant excels in fresh salads, and I enjoyed the special salad of Cheese [Queso de Oveda de Qureterano], with grilled peaches, kale and mixed lettuces, all bathed in a passion-fruit vinaigrette. The Risotto Chilorio was described as Risotto with sausage, but the sausage was really a violently-orange sauce over the rice, topped by an egg, which was acceptable, but not really something I wanted. Josue concocted a nice Carajillo "a la mesa" as always, and also as always, he walked me to the door and outside to the car and valet for a proper exit. read more

Awesome place! Great food, great service, great atmosphere, fair prices.....all the makings of a fantastic restaurant. The design of the restaurant is exceptional, down to every little detail. I sat at the bar while waiting for a friend. The bartender Edgar is very engaging and interesting and makes fantastic drinks. My vegetarian bean and elote sopes had so much flavor, I would definitely order them again. Tijuana has become such an interesting dining destination due to many unique and wonderful restaurants like Kool. I'm very much looking forward to dining here again. read more

Usually I don't leave reviews. But this place clearly needs improvement in their products. I went there with a friend and the environment inspires a fun modern 60s setting. Beautifully designed. Unfortunately the menu leaves much to be desired, we ordered some drinks, the shrimp cebiche and guacamole to start off, we were very disappointed at the portion size as the cebiche had only 3-4 shrimps, and the guacamole was served in a tiny molcajete small enough for about 1 scoop, taste was a disappointment as well, I would've expected that the taste would compensate for the shortcoming, but no. Drinks were ok, I had a mezcal based drink that was just good, my friend a tequila one that tasted like lavender soap or cologne and she couldn't finish it off at all. We left with a big disappointment that we had to go somewhere else to fulfill our hunger and wouldn't return for lunch, dinner or even drinks. P.D. This place is pricey AF. I felt like for what I had (two starters and two drinks) I could have had a full course in any other restaurant of the same category. Total bill was 650MX. Well above average.
