Ricardo's a great place for eating good comfort food any time of day. It's super clean, including restrooms that are cleaner and fresher than most in the U.S. I've only had breakfast there a couple of times and was very satisfied with the quality, quantity, and preparation of each dish. I like that when you order coffee, they bring a big hot pot of it. One oddity is the plate of pickled carrots and sauces, one hot green and one super hot orange, that they bring as a breakfast appetizer. Service is excellent as well. Keep in mind that when they bring the basket of sweet breakfast goodies to your table, you get charged for those that you eat. It seems a bit unsanitary that they, presumably, put the ones you don't eat back into the pool to serve to other customers. read more

I've only had desserts here but they serve fresh hot tortilla chips, carrots and salsa when you come in. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. They open the door for you and greet you every time. Great service! As soon as we walked up the pathway towards the restaurant the host opened the door to greet us and sat us down promptly. The food was delicious. I had the 3 tacos plate and a freshly squeezed Orange juice. My sister and mother had chilaquiles which they raved about. Lastly My father had their white menudo. My mom and I came here Years ago...unsure how I could forget about doing a review. It's been YEARS since I've been here so it reminded me to do this review. We came before some dental work, because you know you got to get it in with the food when you are in TJ before you go back home. My mom ordered red menudo and I ordered white menudo. She ordered a coffee and I ordered a lemonade. Lemonade was a little too sweet. The staff is extremely nice, helpful, respectful and sweet. It was in the middle of the week, so we didn't wait for a seat, especially since we were in a hurry. Both menudos were very good, and the green salsa was spicy but very flavorful. The only negatives for me was the extremely sweet lemonade and the server took the sweet bread when my mom wasnt really done with it. You know us Latinos..there will be NO taking of the pan dulce (mexican sweet bread) from our table...if we didnt finish it we will be taking that home ....don't you dare take that from us! Lol. I usually order their breakfast dishes, which come full of flavor. They brought out chips and salsa as an appetizer. The chips were alright, and the salsa was spicy! Good thing, because I like my salsa to be nuclear hot. The main dish came out about 5 minutes later, and it was delicious. They sure know their cooking here. The decor here is pretty nice. One of the things that I like about this restaurant is they are open 24 hours, they accept credit cards, service and food is good 90 % of the times, they have valid parking, coffee is refill, and prices are very reasonable.! What a great place with yumm-o tortas and sopes. My husband and I were finishing off our day trip to Tijuana, so we decided to stop here because we knew that it would be easy to catch a taxi from here back to the border. Once we sat, the waiter came and took our order. With my limited Spanish, we ordered the asada torta and sopes de pollo. Luckily, the waiter spoke English. The meals came out hot and very appealing. Picture worthy plates. The food was delicious!! Not overly seasoned at all. The price of the meals with 2 cokes was $12 and some change (195 pesos). So worth it!! Stay away, save your money and go somewhere else!!! The restaurant is clean and looks very nice. We had a party of four and were looking forward to steak. We order our drink and one of the options was fresh lemonade, what we got was minute made lemonade. Then the server forgot our jalapenos and when we asked for it at the end, their excuse was they only had carrots! Yet every other table was served jalapenos with chips. We order carne ranchera, which was just meat with can tomato sauce. We ordered chicken fajitas, which had a bit of chicken and cheap white cheese. You could taste the chemicals in the cheap cheese. We also ordered two other steak plates, which had no flavor whatsoever!!! Our check was $60 US dollars. I dont mind paying that amount but for good food, not for crap that came out of a can. Please do yourself a favor and drive a little further for a better place, or stop at a taco stand. read more

I dined in with my mom and her husband and my moms husband ordered a chicken salad they brought a pasta looking salad and I told the server to replace it for something else which he did. But he still charged us for the salad after I told him that why would we pay for something that we didn't like. the sever didn't even tell him how the salad came. A good server is going to ask how you want your chicken grilled or shredded what kind of dressing and also how the salad comes. that's very unprofessional that they do not ask how customers want there plates or what it comes with. This used to be the place to go for late night food. It was top quality. It was good service. Now it is dirty. Disgusting tables that haven't been cleaned. Half the place was closed off and that was the only side with clean tables. Waited 10 minutes and the waiter never came by. Maybe they were short staffed. I talked to the manager and he was very nonchalant. He said, just pick a table that is clean. Well sir, the area with clean tables is roped off. We left. Too bad, I've eaten here dozens of times.
