We had the pleasure of dining last night at Wet Stone Wine Bar, a relatively new restaurant in Solana Beach. The restaurant offers a few outdoor tables (especially enjoyable this time of year) and indoor seating for approximately 20 guests. It features an international wine list and a thoughtfully curated selection of small plates and main courses, all designed for sharing. Our server, Justin, provided several excellent wine recommendations that complemented our meal nicely. To start, we shared the Smoked Hamachi Crudo and the Local Apple Salad. The Hamachi was beautifully prepared and among the best I've had in the U.S. For our mains, we shared the Branzino, Lamb Rack, and Heirloom Carrots. Each dish was creative and perfectly executed. Came here a second time and found out they started a happy hour! I enjoyed some delicious shishito peppers and rosé with a friend and everything was delightful! Of course the wine was delicious! This is an intimate wine bar with surprisingly great food! We sat outdoors to enjoy the secluded outdoor dining area. The server went above and beyond to allow us to taste wines before we committed to a glass. I wasn't expecting large portions but I was thoroughly satisfied after the meal. I recently heard about a new wine bar in Solana Beach and had to try it with my wife and daughter. We have enjoyed great wine bars around the world, but good ones are hard to find, especially ones with great wine, excellent food, and a relaxing atmosphere. What we discovered in our own backyard was one of the top wine bars we've encountered in a long long time. The small, well-decorated dining room was quiet and relaxing with the appropriate background music. We could all carry on a converation. The wines seemed carefully curated and were all delicious, each a top representation of their varietal. We ordered 5 different glasses, 3 whites and 2 reds, over the course of our dinner and we loved them all. The food was also terrific. We had a variey of appetizers that included shishuto peppers, mushrooms, a chacuterie platter and more. Portions were good size. We skipped the entrees as we were too full. Lastly, service was excellent and professional. Costs for our wine and dinner came to about $200 for 3. So it's not a low cost experience because the wines varied from $14 to mid twenties for a 5 oz pour. We probably over ordered the appetizers a bit. Nevertheless the quality of the food and wine made this a memorable experience. Solana Beach is lucky to be the home of such a great new wine bar. Can't wait to return. read more

From the moment I realized they moved into the neighborhood I knew it would be love! And it was not just love at first sip, but I got to savor the layers as they deepened with the gorgeous intentionality and charm involved in every aspect of this new perfectly cozy place. The service was so genuine and charming, the whole crew actually cared about ensuring a solid experience from the conversation, to the welcome to the pour to the tastings to everything. Bravo! The food. My goodness. I've never gone to a wine bar for the food. That's changed now. Holy hell. Try everything you can it's made with such love! It's things I've eaten before but that are new to me again. Also, I've always hated olives. Not here. They converted me to their olives. All that to say, one sipping and I'm sold. delicious and the overall vibe is great. The food, however, was a bit hit or miss. The scallop crudo was the biggest miss for us. It tasted overly fishy and felt like it needed acidity to balance it out. It came across as raw scallops with olive oil and salt, and unfortunately the whole table struggled to enjoy it. I would skip that dish. On the positive side, the pork belly was really good, and the pimiento cheese was solid, just not particularly memorable. I would absolutely come back for the wine and atmosphere. One small note, upgrading the outdoor furniture from plastic chairs and tables would really elevate the overall experience. read more

This place is my new obsession. The wine list is totally different than anything in the area. The food is amazing as well. I have not had a dish I didn't love. If you are looking for a light snack, I recommend the pimento cheese. They have a rotating house red and white that has introduced me to new varietals that I love. What a great neighborhood spot. What started out as a handful of guests chatting over glasses of wine, soon became full of people enjoying a very well chosen wine program and outstanding and creative small plates. We were truly blown away by everything we ate at Wetstone. It's one of the best meals we've had in a while. The menu is carefully curated full of local delicacies which made for a memorable dinner. We started off with a glass of the house red and white, both from small vineyards. We had the pork belly, lamb carpaccio, apple salad, pimento cheese dip and bread pudding for dessert. The pork belly was cooked perfectly via sous vide. I was worried the lamb carpaccio would be gamey, but it was not at all and was very unique and full of flavor. The apple salad was so well balanced and the juiciest Lucy Glow apples in it. The pimento cheese dip was so tasty. The best part was our dessert of the bread pudding. I normally don't care for bread pudding, but we saw it come out of the kitchen multiple times and it looked so yummy so we went for it. It wasn't soggy at all and had a wonderfully caramelized crust with decadent caramel and ice cream. The location itself is cute and cozy, and the service was helpful and kind.
