Love coming to Carruth on Wednesdays for their pizza and live music events. There are regular pizza vendors that are on rotation on Wednesdays and Fridays as well. The winery is very family and pet friendly. There is no kitchen so customers are welcome to bring their own food or order at the pop up tents. Bottle of the week if normally only offered during HH which is from 4-6 only from M-Thur and its pretty good deal compared to the rest of the bottle prices on the menu. read more

Super cute indoor and outdoor space for wine. I went with my friends on a Wednesday night and the live music was so good! There was also a pizza vendor which was delicious and quick. You can check the website to see if there will be a food vendor. The wine selection was expansive and quick service. I got a glass for $18. I do wish they had a sweet white wine (moscato or Riesling) or prosecco on the menu. I got the rosé and would get this again if I were back. read more

There is outdoor seating and inside the winery are huge barrels and a very large concrete area that could be set up with chairs or tables for an event. There is no food service, but there are nearby restaurants. Parking is a little tricky, especially over the weekend. read more

Wine was ok but I think on the pricy side and the rest of the items we got it's just like going to Ralph's and getting them there to eat at a park . What a way to end a perfect hike in Solana Beach, sitting outside, sipping our flights of wine and enjoying our prepackaged charcuterie at Carruth Cellars. We were a party of 4 on a Monday. We arrived right at 1:00 PM when they opened. The winery is fairly big, it has indoor and patio seating. The young lady that was manning the counters and the pours was very helpful and very nice. We each ordered the $25 "Let it Flow" wine flights, plus a few prepackaged meats, cheeses, nuts and a baguette. We were able to sit and relax for as long as we wanted. The timing and day was perfect, not busy at all. I would definitely be back when in the area. Atmosphere: a relaxing vibe with both indoor and patio seating. Service: excellent. Carruth is an 'urban winery'. They source their grapes from all over California and make the wine in San Diego. They make a few whites and a large selection of red wines. The wines are also grouped into a number of interesting 'flights'. I visited the Solana Beach location on Cedros Ave. Served from a bar with indoor and outdoor seating section the outdoor section looks inviting for a sunny day, but I love the smell of wine barrels, and we sat indoors. The wines were quite good! Had two reds, a GSM and a pinot noir. read more

This is my go-to place for live music and wine. They have multiple locations so I decided to meet my friend who lives in North County at the Solana Beach location. They don't have a lot of food at the location but there's plenty of restaurants surrounding it, so just be prepared if you're looking for drinks and food here. Every Wednesday they have live music, which creates such an intimate and vibrant ambience. I ordered the let it flow flight and my friend got a glass of one of there new wines, tattoo wine. From service to entertainment to Ambiance this place has a special place in my heart. Just an fyi, there's also plenty of parking around the corner, limited parking right in front. read more

What a nice spot! This place is a lot bigger inside than I expected. It's got good long tables for seating larger groups and high ceilings. The staff is incredibly friendly. They had a great chilled red that was perfect for a particularly warm day. I look forward to coming back here to try more. read more

We have been visiting Carruth a number of times both during regular business hours and also for private events. They are located in the beautiful Cedros District which is just a short walk from the beach. Their wine is great and service is wonderful and efficient. There is no food onsite other than some charcuterie options but they allow you to bring your own food in. Plus they also have the occasional food truck and pizza Wednesday (my favorite!). They also have music on certain nights. Kids and dogs are allowed. read more

Hidden gem! We came in on a Friday evening and had a lovely evening. Carruth is tucked away on Cedros so it's a little hidden. There is street parking nearby. There are tables outside and a nice barrel room feel inside. I definitely recommend the bartender flight! They will put together a flight of 5 tastings based on your preferences. Mine was spot on!!! There is a nice selection of cheese, charcuterie, and a baguette or crackers available. Everything we had was delicious and paired perfectly with the wine! Finally something other than a brewery! Wow - how can I say this... their signature Cab is a 10/10. While I did NOT realize it was SO pricey for a glass when I tasted a sample, I can honestly say "no regrets" for treating myself to this amazing wine! Also plenty of other more average priced wines on their menu that were also great. Bread, cheese, and other nibbles available - though our cheese came vacuumed sealed it did end up sticking together like a giant chunk - not the most glamorous look to try and break it apart with your fingernails. Super chill vibes and lots of large tables for groups! Service was friendly and chill. read more

Okay, so there are four locations now. Solana, C'bad, San Diego (Little Italy), and O'side. We had a membership when we lived in C'bad Village back in 2018. Tonight we stopped into the Solana location and quickly identified the vibe at this particular location is not for us. Little Italy is too far, and so, we've never been. It's a cute urban winery with great service I just didn't love the wine and it was pretty pricey. They have indoor and outdoor seating options and all orders have to include food but they have a good spread of food options that aren't too pricey. I decided to do a tasting since I had never tried the wines before. We got both of the standard tastings ($20 for 5). The first one had white, rose and reds. The second one only had reds. On Thursdays they also have a special reserve tasting ($35 for 5). We also got the potters crackers and fig jam. I usually love reds and unfortunately I didn't love any of the ones here. They all seemed a little too light in flavor and/or a little tart and dry. Also the tasting pours are tiny. I think all five tastings combined barely make a glass. I saw some other tables around me get glasses of wine and they seemed like very good pours so I'd probably do by the glass if I came back. read more

Had and excellent experience here during a late weekday afternoon. The service was great and the wines were fine. We didn't like every wine we tried but there were several we really enjoyed. We ended up purchasing six bottles of wine from here to take home and drank one on premise. The wine maker has a variety of wines which someone should be able to find at least a couple they really like. If we lived closer we would join their wine club but North OC is a bit far to drive from every couple of weeks to get the club experience we would prefer. read more

Caruth at Solana Beach is the way to go. Cody was amazing and the staff was extremely friendly. We enjoyed a variety of wines during our private tasting and the pairings were perfect. It was fun to interact with the staff as they were trying to figure out what chocolate goes best with the red wines. This is well worth your time to visit and was one of the best things we did while visiting La Jolla for my 60th birthday. First and it must be a big draw.... dog friendly to the max!!! I mean everywhere you turn there is a cute dog.... it's so fun when you don't have one at home. On to the wine. Solid if not spectacular. Great place to hand try a bunch of stuff to expand your pallet. We tried Shiraz, Rosè, a Cab blend and settled on a nice easy Merlot. This venue is more of a tavern that serves wine, a little rough around the edges. Kids serving don't know anything about the wine and are drinking it too! One was very buzzed by end of evening. I've been to a lot of classy establishments and this is not one of them. The wine itself is higher in alcohol than typical and tastes like sugar was added (yes this actually happens with some wine). Again, I'm a savvy wine drinker, I recommend skipping this place and going to Soltera or any nice restaurant for good wine and real food (Carruth only has prepacked snacks). read more
