The price and the food quality simply do not match. I ordered a chicken and shrimp pasta. There were cold pieces of chicken in the middle like it had been heated in a microwave. There was an obnoxious amount of sauce. The pasta was over cooked. The only redeeming part of the meal was my ginger beer. Most of the ppl at my table were unhappy with the food sent it back. What further pissed me off is that we was charged $27 for just plain Alfredo and $12 for a piece of fish, since when is plain Alfredo is $27?. I come here often I want to give the place 5 stars because the food is so delicious and the drinks are usually on point. However the workers never seem to smile and look miserable. Our waitress was upset that she got seated another table (my table) on a busy night. We received that energy from her the entire night. Me and my best friend didn't say anything to her and we continued to enjoy our food, drinks and good music. Not until the time it was for us to pay our tab was when she finally cracked a smile :) "thank you ladies " lol. We know what that means (leave me a nice tip please). I even witnessed a party of 4 walk out because the waitress had such a nasty attitude. I have worked in restaurants for many years and it really sucks as an employee to have sour people work with you if you have a job with pulled tip. I've been to this restaurant almost 10 times in the past three months and while I do enjoy the food, the customer service experience leaves a lot to be desired. Let's start with the fact that one particular way that walks around with his mask underneath his nose instead of over it and constantly have to be reminded to pull it up. While the food is good the wait time for someone to take your order and to deliver the food to the table is horrendous. Also I ordered a Pepsi and waited 20 minutes for it to be brought to my table even though my table was right across from the bar. Not to mention that three times that I've been here in the past month every time I go to the bathroom heavily soiled hand towels are overflowing in the wastebasket and it doesn't look like anyone has cleaned the bathroom since they opened in the early part of the day. The visit before my last one I had ordered some calamari and the way to disappeared and I didn't see him for almost 30 minutes; when he reappeared he explained to me that he was also on the lower level working as the bartender because about four staff members all went on lunch at the same time. What?!? Who is doing the lunch schedules for these individuals?!? I do notice that this restaurant has their faithful and loyal clientele to come on the regular and perhaps they have the mindset that those are the only ones that they need to serve and maybe they aren't concerned about new clientele; and with that being said, I think it's time for me to take my business elsewhere even though I do enjoy the food. read more

G-Bar is connected to the side of Giovanni's and is a regular after work happy hours spot for people who work nearby. The space is small, with just a couple little tables, a lot of bar seating, but not enough mingle room. The drinks range from $5-7 during happy hour which is a relatively good price. However, the margaritas are hit or miss. Not everyone there makes it the same and sometimes it tasted like they just threw ingredients together and called it a margarita. The sangria also isn't good, tastes cheap, so maybe stick to beer. I have had some wings which come from the restaurant and those are delicious! The pizza is also pretty good, especially the margarita. The calamari was chewy and not crispy enough for my liking but could've just been that day. A friend who lives around the corner brought me here and it was so good I had to come back before leaving NYC. I had the baked ziti with the bruschetta both were delicious. I also enjoyed the sangria & a mojito. Some folks have complained about the service - I thought the service was GREAT! Wish they could get no stars. Growing up I loved this place. Used to go weekly and even knew some of the servers. I relocated and years later came back due to a death in the family. After grieving and going to grab food I made the only suggestion I was confident to be a great time. When we walked in a group of 5 no one greeted us and servers and runners stood at the end of the bar texting and staring at us. When I asked if we seat ourselves the girl said sit there or there pointing to 2 tables in an empty restaurant. We sat down and menus were put in a pile on the table and she left. Entrees go for almost $50 each which was fine is the service was up to par. From the beginning the server took awhile to take our drink order and when asked what bottled beverages she had she listed a few while rolling her eyes. When we asked for Pepsi she said all bottle beverages were at the pizza shop and we weren't allowed to have them. The two restaurants are connected and same owner so already I was annoyed. The girl continue rolling her eyes at us while she gave us bread and water. I left to go around the corner to purchase a bottled drink from the other side of the restaurant. When I came back I noticed my mom ordered coffee and was confused because she asked for cream and sugar but the waitress just stood in eyesight at the bar texting. I approached and asked if we did something to her to make her give us attitude and she kept giving me dirty looks and said if I was mad about the bottled beverages she has to follow the rules. I explained it was the whole interection. She then asked if I had a problem and I told her excuse me?? She repeated herself and I said u about to have a problem. I went to the table and told my family we were leaving. As we walked out a fat, African American older woman folding napkins started yelling at us callin us nasty and saying she's not the adddress she will do something. So I said no wonder your restaurant is empty, it's filled with trash and laughed at them. The girl kept yelling at us and calling us nasty bitches. How classy and professional of an establishment. No manager in sight, no other workers stepping in to diffuse the situation and just being so horrible on an already bad day we were having. For example, the filling for the lobster ravioli tasted like it was frozen then thawed a few times prior to cooking them. The crabcakes were a mixture of imitation and real crab meat, with no seasoning/ flavor and a lot of breading on the outside. Wanted get a meal and relax before going home, well I was in for a rude awakening. 1) The server had an attitude like she didn't really care what her tip would be. 2) The area where I sat had a serious bug problem. Gnats flying on me and my food I spent the entire meal swatting. 3) The meal was not worth the price. 4) The ambiance was horrible, the lights kept flickering and were so dimmed you could barely read the menu. 5) Service was barely okay, server never checked to see how the meal was. I will never step foot in this restaurant again. I will also make sure no one I know steps foot in this restaurant. Retrain your server and call an exterminator and electrician. So i have been to this establishment plenty of times so i really feel like i can give an overall review of this place. I like that the location is close to my job and home so when i do go there there is a easy commute and easy for people who are traveling from different places. I have come for Lunch, Brunch, drinks and Dinner. (BTW i never had their pizza) Lunch/Dinner the food is absolutely amazing i came with about 10 coworkers and we all ordered entrees and for 10 people ordering the food came pretty quick and everyone's food was hot i got the chicken parm. and it was really good. The serving sizes are big so i had plenty of food for the next day. everyone was satisfied with their food as well. I came a few times for dinner with friends and family. and no one has ever had a complaint about their food the Giovanni seafood is great too. during lunch hours its not crowded. Dinner hours get crowed but i have never made a reservation and i usually get seated. Drinks- Happy Hour from 3 to 6 Friday its really crowded nice atmosphere i will be back for that. Brunch went to brunch here about 4 times The last time i was here for brunch the waitress spilled about three to four mimosa's ALL OVER ME!!!!!! i did not bump her. Classy, a real find. This is like a fancy mid-town bar, you can order any kind of cocktail and they know how to make it. The food is also good. (Get the coconut shrimp!) They stay open till midnight, but on weekdays a little later since people who work at the court house often stop by here. The picture below is a display of him engaging with a group of "regulars" who were so disruptive that other patrons left. Then the guys continued to be boisterous and try to speak with my group in a sexual manner. Despite our lack of interest and engagement the manager did nothing to stop this. Even after asking for help he said it looked like you like it, this made the men in the group comfortable enough to berate us. So today while at work I ordered lunch from here and realized I have never reviewed this place and a few others that I frequent often........and this spot deserves a review due to the fact it is mixed..... So you have two side here.....Giovanni's and GBar.........however same establishment and managment.....this is the go to pizza spot in this area .....and overall the pizza is ok......I order online for delivery very often and the lunch menu prices are incorrect.....based off the online prices........I have yet to receive any kind of lunch price.... I actually find when I order delivery the portion is smaller and the tab is more.....but still the same quality of food......when I get delivery it is only pasta or salad.... Now this is the to go to happy hour for people who work in this area.....the happy hour is not that long and the drink deals are simply ok.....now I use to go here often and usually with a large group and we stay way pass the 7 happy hour......on some days the service is great......and they leave my tab running and I pay at the end of my evening.....then there are other times they make me pay before being served......the last time I went for happy hour it was for a coworker farewell .......we had food and appetizers.......mind you this was a night they kept giving us the tab to pay even thought we were not leaving and still ordering.....and each time we had left a tip......so I went to the bar to order a round of shots for my group.....and once again I was asked to pay......and I did......before my drinks were served.....the manager came over to me and said....hey.....why did you do this.....you did not leave a tip.......mind you I had already paid 2 checks and left tips......I had already give over $20 in tips.....and my friends had paid off tabs sent to the table as well.....before my drinks were served I had to give a tip......so needles to say I have not been back to the G Bar.....and I now order lunch from the Giovanni's side every blue moon when others do from my job. The food is mediocre at best and it's damned pricey for what it is. The salads are from containers and jars; crab cakes are not fresh, it comes from a can. the sauces are greasy. The staff service comes and goes. yesterday i was there with a friend (because he likes the place; it is next to his job. he just eats pizza and drinks shelf wine there). The waiter brings food to me that isn't mine. i tell him to take it away and it isn't my order. He gets an attitude and walks away leaving the food in front of me. Came on Father's Day to the Sunday Brunch. The place was COMPLETE mess !!! The rude head waiter told my father the tables by the brunch buffet were full and we needed to wait 45mins to be seated. Eventually we just got up and went to the buffet and continued to sit at the table by the pizza shop section . The food was Okay, not spectacular at all . My company had held our Christmas Party at this location so was able to try out their food. Though the drinks here are awesome, the food I thought was ok. I had the steak which was a bit overcooked which made it dry. I like my steak Medium so that you can taste the tenderness of the meat. My husband had the Veal which he enjoyed, but has definitely had better. Overall it was a great location to hold a company party and we all had a blast. Though a bit small, the place provide good accommodation and a nice ambiance. Worth checking out if your looking to host an event. read more

This place is pretty chill. The food is good and their drinks are strong. The bartender can be a little ditzy at times and that's what stopped me from giving it 5 stars but all in all I definitely recommend it. The mango madness martini and the Caribbean paradise frozen drinks are extremely strong (and for me this is a good thing). The chicken fingers are great, the bruschetta is my favorite appetizer there, the tortellini in a chicken broth soup is pretty decent and their fries are addictive! Why G-Bar wont get my fifth star (and why they are lucky they got my fourth): The place is beautiful. Lets be real. This establishment is like an oasis in a desert. As soon as you roll up, you are impressed with its appearance. The inside is even better looking: Restaurant, Lounge, and Bar area - all sharp! Next, the menu is quite extensive. Their liquor range is a little limited in the tequila department, but they do well overall in the rest. The menu is honestly a huge one to maintain. Moving on to service/waitstaff (here's where things got tricky): I'll start with the pros --- attentive busboys (I'm not so finicky about how often they come around to offer water as other people are), waiter that know his menu really well and offered all options possible, attractive hostess who handled her job nicely, and everyone looking rather uniform in dress. On the con side --- I came here to watch a friend perform some live music with her crew. I was dressed pretty sharp because I was expecting to party in Manhattan later. I was in the mood for dessert and a tea, because it was late. Guess what the waiter told me? You have to order food to sit here. "Huh?" You are ordering dessert, that does not count as food. "... but my food and tea together cost more than some of the food items on the menu." This is a business this is how they do it here. (Mind you, the place was NOT full and there were plenty of tables left AND I was sitting in a two seater) "(again)... but my items together cost more than some food items here." After some back and forth, he said, "Ill see what I can do (which should have been his first response, instead of arguing with me --- had my friend not been performing, I'd have left.)" He goes to speak with the manager and they let it go and let me sit. DUH! FUCKING DUH! I wasnt being a dick, nor was I trying to bust balls. I was trying to spend money. Funny enough, after that lil' ol' $13 bill, when my other guests arrived, we spent another $96 AND they stayed behind to drink even more after we cleared up that second bill. Speaking of the bill... I ask the waiter to let me pay my items separate. The other two were on a date and I wanted to make sure homie paid his share. Waiter wouldnt do it. Said it's "already on the bill" MFer I know POS systems and it's easy to adjust (is what I thought, but of course I smiled and said NO PROBLEM.) So, we get the bill and I when a waitress comes over to take payment, I tell her we want $32 on my card and the rest will come out of the other dudes cash. It took them going back and forth with us THREE TIMES for them to get it correct. HOWEVER, in their defense, the dude that was at my table DID try to underpay what his bill was. Exactly why I wanted to separate to begin with. I probably wouldnt have caught that unless the staff fucked up (PS: he still got the girl in the end, so moral of story is act really nice, but hardly speak and underpay to the embarrassment of your date and youll still get lucky.) Anyway, I would still recommend the place for people to eat at. Just understand that you might deal with a few frustrations before you get to the nitty gritty which is that the place is overall a very good establishment. read more

Went on a Saturday for brunch. The restaurant set up is a bit strange. G-Bar is a part of the Giovanni's which is on the corner but a separate restaurant. Not really sure but they are all connected inside. The brunch itself is a buffet with lots of options and a person there solely to make omelettes. Brunch is $28.95 per person and it includes 2 drinks free of charge. If you want to keep the party going, any brunch drinks (mimosa, bellini, champagne, bloody mary) is $2. Not bad at all. The food selection is good with a surprising amount of seafood. You can definitely find your happy place brunching here! read more
