Sweet Chilli Chicken Jerk Chicken

Bleu Room Restaurant & Lounge in Harlem might just have the BEST Happy Hour I've seen since 2016, no exaggeration. The prices? Insane. The quality? Even better. I went in for the vibes and left planning my next visit. The honey chipotle wings and oxtail rasta pasta? Top-tier! The catfish tacos and fritters? Definitely worth a bite Hookah flowing, plenty of TVs to catch the game, and music that sets the mood just right. To continue the vibe they also have downstairs lounge with a DJ adds the perfect touch for a night out with friends Follow @butteronaroll_ on IG & TikTok for more recommendations

Jerk chicken with jerk sauce; rice and peas with oxtail gravy; cabbage and plantain. Grapefruit Ting.

Jerk chicken doesn't miss ... !!! ... neither does the customer service. Went there today (Valentine's Day) and they surprised me with a single rose. What a kind gesture of customer appreciation. This lot was unoccupied for quite some time, but was recently taken over by The Bleu Room which has been a great addition to the neighborhood. Looking forward to the opening of their lounge area this summer.

They now have brunch on Sundays and i visited for their first brunch . The customer service is perfect . Every employee i had to speak with was so very kind and i am super big on feeling welcomed at restaurants especially being that i usually dine alone . They were very accommodating because i did switch a few things around on the menu . Everything i ate was 10/10 . Perfect amount of flavor and temperature. The setting is nice and calm and the dj plays the perfect tunes . The blue lighting is fun being that it's called The Bleu Room . I recommend giving brunch a try and i plan on giving them a try on any day .

Oxtail

I have been coming here since they first opened in 2023. I loved it at first because of the flavor & portion size to price ratio. But lately (as in the past year) portion has become utterly different. This image is a LARGE oxtail. I get this every time like a fool. When you order LARGE anything, especially oxtail , you will get rice & bones. Very Disappointed will NOT be back.

Henny punch

The food was great, the vibes were immaculate, the bartender mixes the best drinks! Service was great, the appetizers came out shortly after the drinks and then our main. Definitely would recommend if you're in the area and the owner is just the most hospitable person you'll meet !

Medium Oxtail with Rice & Peas and steamed vegetables. Added plantains.

This place has changed so much over the last four years--and while a lot can change in that time,…read moreit was still disappointing to see. I stopped by on a weekday around 3:00-4:00 p.m., right as happy hour was starting. According to their website, happy hour runs from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The main reason I came was for their frozen rosé, which I remembered being one of the best. It's definitely more of a sweet, refreshing drink than a strong one, but it still gives you a nice buzz. I was even willing to pay full price for it. I literally paid for an Uber just because I was craving that frozen drink. The first thing I noticed was that, despite it being broad daylight, there was a security guard at the door checking IDs and searching bags. That's their policy, and that's fine, but what really stood out was the condition of the entrance. The front door was cracked and held together with duct tape. It seemed odd to be so focused on security while basic maintenance appeared to be neglected. When I walked in, I was only the second customer in the entire bar besides the bartender. Unfortunately, I found out the frozen drink machines have been broken for months, so there were no frozen drinks available at all. The bartender mentioned that she has repeatedly told management the machines need to be repaired, but nothing has been done. Since that was the only reason I came, and nothing else on the menu really caught my interest, I decided not to stay. This place has changed dramatically since the COVID era. The atmosphere feels completely different. One of the things I used to enjoy was their hookah happy hour, which was around $25 with refills for about $10-$15, and they had a great selection of flavors. From what I've heard, they no longer offer hookah, and it sounds like they may not have had the proper license back then, which is concerning if true. Another thing I miss is the outdoor seating area they had during COVID. The indoor space is pretty small, but the outdoor setup made the bar feel much larger and created a much better atmosphere. It's disappointing that they didn't keep it because I think it really added to the experience and probably helped attract more customers. Sorry I didn't take any photos, but honestly, there wasn't much worth photographing. The interior hasn't really changed, so the existing photos online are still an accurate representation of what it looks like still.

DJ played a blend of hip hop and dembow - great selection. 5 stars for the atmosphere alone - I love the decor. Came back for another game with my friend and she was my server again. Great service once again, the wings and truffle fries were good, drinks were phenomenal. City Coffee & Bar will definitely be my go to place for hookah & drinks in the area. All but one round of drinks were at the happy hour price and each drink was now $20. It's odd because the food happy hour orders didn't go up but the drinks did? Either way, we didn't agree with the bill and after some discussion with the bartender, it was lowered but they tacked on an automatic gratuity (I guess as a way to compensate) but it was only two of us, so that should have never happened, especially since gratuity is optional. This experience honestly ruined the vibe and our willingness to come back again. It's really a shame because we looked forward to Monday happy hour because getting good drinks at that price is rare in the city and is a nice gem when it happens. I understand the desire to cash in on events like this, but your originality and integrity is what keeps customers and return customers. I'm sorry but I don't think I'll be back, even though it's a nice establishment. This experience was just too sour.

However, this past Saturday night on 4/20/2024 my friends and I visited the Harlem location and we experienced the worst bar service ever. We ordered three drinks and the bartender made them and there was a mystery fourth drink. When questioned about it, he stated "oh that's a drink somebody left behind." Ok no problem, but I'm not paying for this guys drink (an unknown individual standing next to me where the drink was in front of). I grabbed the drink and placed it to my right. The unidentified male questions this, and I tell him; it's not yours so it shouldn't matter. The bartender yells at me and says my bill is $74 (while trying to grab the fourth mysterious drink, he knocked over one of my ordered drinks). I repeated, I'm not paying for his drink. The bartender says, "you're not." Ok, so why is the bill $74? He just looks at me. So I ask, how much for one (because they were all the same with the exception of that mysterious drink)? Bartender says, $17. Now I'm pissed. $17x3 (anywhere is) $51! Where's the other $23 coming from? I asked for a manager! He stated he is the manager! REALLY! Your attitude, unprofessionalism, and inaccurate math is unacceptable and unbelievable. He claims he was attempting to explain. NEVER did he attempt any kind of explanation or correction. Instead, he kept repeating $74 each time he interacted with me. During all this time, it's literally closing time because the lights come on. After lying about trying to calm me down and explain, I called him a lair. Since you want to clearly over charge me and my friends for three basic drinks and then lie about it all and claim to be the "bar manager"; you really handled this situation like someone who lacks basic customer service skills and no management experience at all. Since the lights where all on now and the DJ was thanking us all from coming out, I told the 'Bartending Manager'; he can keep those drinks and that I will be posting about this experience because I don't like liars and he is a LAIR. That whole crazy ordeal did not need to play out like that. Ps... was gonna over charge us, serve us the drinks, then kick us out immediately afterwards. WOW. This place is a great spot to hangout at with friends or to meet good folks. However, be aware of everything and everyone around you ...especially when interacting with the bar staff. Pay close attention to what you are paying for and ask for a detailed receipt. Even if you're paying in cash, ask for a detailed receipt to ensure you were properly billed and rather or not a tip was automatically charged; so you don't over tip for basic services. Thank you for taking the time to read my review. I sincerely hope the owners of this establishment takes this review serious; as I was disappointed with the service received that evening. However, it will not affect my ability to revisit this establishment. Understandably, I will be more cautious and ask for upfront drink prices before placing an order and request a receipt for all orders at the bar. I will not seek any assistance from the staff member that attempted to extort us.

I would describe it as one of those IYKYK places with a speakeasy feel. The decor was immaculate. A wooden bar gave it a bit of a polished rustic feel with mirrors and pictures on the wall. There was a high ball rectangular wood topped table in the middle of the bar area as well as a couple of banquettes against the walls. The wall lights were works of art. The place was simply an eclectic montage of comfortable and welcoming decor with hints of art deco inspiration throughout. Kudos to the interior designer!!!!! Please see my pictures as I tried to capture the ambiance visually. My friend and I were on our way home from visiting another neighborhood establishment when we stumbled upon it and decided to check it out. When we walked in we were immediately transported to a world of low lighting sepia tones and sheik embellishments. Our experience started off very grand. Greeted by a hostess we decided to sit at the bar for a quick drink. We saw diners enjoying themselves. The place had a low level of audio giving it more of an intimate aura. Our bartender remained professional but was a bit withdrawn. I ordered a sparkling water and my friend had a prosecco. We also decided on a quick nosh consisting of fish fritters and jerk mushrooms. Honestly, the fritters were disappointing as all I could taste was fried breading. The presentation was nice but the taste failed. The jerk mushrooms were completely delightful and the highlight of our dining experience. My compliments to the chef for the mushrooms as I will try to recreate them at home. Food and beverage pricing were on par with Manhattan establishments. The staff were very nice. We went kind of late and stayed until the establishment closed. Never once did they make us feel rushed to leave. We chatted with the hostess and another server before leaving and got a little history of the place. I must say the bathroom was amazing!!! A single unisex room with handicapped bar installed. Please refer to the pictures. It was beautifully decorated and the cleanest bathroom in Harlem!!! Even the floors were very art driven. It was a pleasure to use such a well kept and decorated facility. I was extremely impressed with this Harlem establishment. Definitely worthy of a date night and as a travel destination dinner. Totally give it a 5 out of 5 and most definitely will patronize it again in the future.
